Great Product for the Price . The product works exactly like it should; I did not perceive any slowdown in any of the devices plugged into it. Also, setup with a computer was fast and easy - just plug and go. Overall, very satisfied with the product.
Octopus Extension 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub Adapter Reviews
A little flimsy though but great price! . Considering the prices of other hubs, this is practically a steal. The jacks are slightly...too big though, meaning whatever you plug into each one never actually "clicks." Any device is basically hanging by a thread and will fall off at the slightest tug. It can be easily countered by elevation.

Great price, "okay" product.
Fantastic little gadget . This handy little USB 4-Port adapter was delivered quickly and it works great. I plan to have it around for years to come. Built to satisfy!

Cons Review
P.O.S . Used for less than a week. I disconnect a USB device and the USB plug detached from the product, and is now useless. Very poorly made. You get what you pay for.

Could not get this to work . I ordered two of these from Amazon. I could not get them to work with most USB devices (e.g. my blackberry and my Ipod would not charge or sync through it). I wasted too much time trying to get them to work, and never succeeded.

This review is from : Nexaira NexConnect 3G/4G SOHO Router
SOHO as a broadband router . We live in an area without broadband services and very marginal cell reception ~95db. When I started full time telecommuting, I needed an alternative to sitting in front of the only window where my air card worked. I selected the SOHO because of the 11n range, price, upgradeable firmware, security and support for 3g/4g.

It took less then 30 min to setup and configure the SOHO and my Verizon USB760 aircard. I only had to make one minor change to the defaults, setting the aircard configuration for stay alive. Gone are the problems I had with the aircard going dormant when it was connected directly into my PC. Range is also good, strong signal 40+ feet away through 3 internal walls. I have not tested the 4g features.

I would have given it 5 stars but the little blue status LEDs are way to bright and distracting with the way the flicker. No need for an LED to be visible at 50 yards if you cannot read the labels from more then 10 feet.
Nexaira NexConnect 3G/4G SOHO Router Reviews
Great router! . We bought this router to use with a 4G verizon broadband modem (Pantech UML290). Installation and setup were extremely easy...almost too easy because I kept looking for more things to do! It it important to note that with this particular modem you will need to contact Nexaira customer support and have them email you a firmware update. Nexaira customer support was very helpful and curteous and this step was no problem at all. The router has worked just like it should since installed. If you live in a very rural area like we do and your broadband signal is only "good" not "excellent," this router will also prevent being disconnected from the internet due to signal strength variations. This feature alone makes it more than worth the money we spent. I would highly recommend this router!
Excellent 3G/4G Router . When you need to share your 3G / 4G USB modem with multiple users or a wired modem, this router works great.
Nexaira NexConnect 3G/4G SOHO Router Opinions
Great device for home or small office . This device is really nice, one of the only 4G routers on the market. The GUI is fantastic, and setting up WiFi is just as simple (if not simplier) than the Linksys and Tomato interfaces. I am receiving 20+ Mbps using a Verizon 4G LTE card. Note: if you are using the Verizon LTE 4G data card from Pantech, you'll need to contact support@nexaira.com to receive the firmware update. Copy it to a thumb drive and flash the firware from the main menu, VZW 4G services will not work without it.

These types of speeds elimiate the need for a costly T1, or home DSL and cable circuit. We deploy these devices at business and residential sites and we have had tremendous success. For this price point, you can't go wrong.

One of Nexaira's competitors, San Diego-based Mushroom Networks, offers a similar 4G-compliant device. However, Mushroom's device aggreates the bandwidth of multiple data cards (USB and PCI Express).

Cradlepoint is another manufacturer in this space that makes reliable gear, but at the time I am writing this, they don't have a 4G model available.

In the end, I would definitely recommend this device.
Does the Trick but has issues with some 3G Modems . I bought this for my father's house, as he lives in the country and Satellite was his only option for High Speed Internet. We set him up with Verizon and the Pantec 4G UML290, which was listed on the Nexaira's web site as being compatible with this SOHO router. 4G is not available in his area, so we modified the Pantec to ONLY use the 3G service and ignore 4G.We were running into uptime issues at first, with constant dropped connections. Nexaira's Tech Support was GREAT with this. I spoke to a very nice person who, after trying a bunch of different solutions, finally noted that the modem we chose had slight compatibility issues that they were aware of. The recommendation was to purchase the Verizon Wireless UMW190 Global USB Modem/Mobile Phone as a replacement 3G Modem, as they said it had the best compatibility of Verizon's 3G Modem offerings. We bought the UMW190 and service was just Excellent! We had the modem up and running with no disconnections for nearly a week. Overall we are Very happy with the Nexaira NexConnect SOHO Router, but a note on the Compatibility list for the UML290 on "some connection issues" would have been nice to know prior to purchasing.
Highly functional . I have been able to set up this product very quickly and the GUI allows me to set up many many functions easily. I highly recommend this product.

3-G Router . This router sets up very easy. I have tried other 3G routers, but this is the easiest to set up. It works quite well, but I have found that when I go through the router, my speed drops a little. With just the aircard, I can receive at 1.2 KBS, but through the router it drops to about 850 KBS. I am on a Verizon system with a good signal, so I don't know why the speed drops. I have had no problems with the router other than the reduced speed.
it works . One of the few routers, and the only one I got to work with, the usb pantech 290. It did require a firmware upgrade that went smoothly. So far this device has met all my expectations. I would have given 5 stars, but to get the firmware upgrade you have to email tech support. Email them on a Friday, you won't get your upgrade until the following week, but be patient, it works.

Cons Review
NexAira SOHO problems . Well I suppose there may be a bad one from time to time but I am now on my second one that also appears to have a problem. The first one lasted just past a month and worked as expected until the problems began. The USB cell modem connection kept dropping out so I had to unplug it everyday to reset it at first then I had to reset it almost every hour before it would no longer work at all. I first thought it was my cell carrier but then it would not let me get into the software and the reset did not work. I finally did get into the software and I was able to flash the newest firmware but it still did not work. I contacted the support and they did respond and tried to help but I finally gave up and paid to have it sent back.

I just received the replacement one this week and the USB cell service is once again working however now the WAN support as primary and the cell support as the secondary roll over is not working. I have once again contacted the support staff in CA and I know that they will do their best to help. I have concerns though on the overall quality of this product as it appears that the second one is faulty. I also wonder if I will have to pay for the shipping again to get this one replaced.

I give Amazon high marks as the purchase and selection is fantastic. I also praise the support staff for this product also. The only CON I have at the moment is quality of the product itself. so I only gave it one star.

HD home Network dual tuner for HDTV MAC and PC

This review is from : Elgato HDHomeRun Network Dual Tuner for HDTV for Mac or PC (10023030)
Solid HDHomerun + Solid EyeTV software . This is an excellent product for having two accessed from multiple devices on your network at the same time.

In the box you receive.
- HDHomeRun device w/ power adapter.
- Coax cable
- Ethernet Cable
- Elgato eyeTv 3 CD-ROM
- License card (with 2 license keys)
- Quick Start Manual

Setup is very easy. You unpack the device, hook the power up, hook the source up (coax/antenna/etc), and hook it up to your network. Then install the software on your mac. eyeTv then guides you through locating your device, setting up the software, tuning the channels, etc.

The HDHomeRun on it's own is a great product, and can be bought for cheaper on it's own. However, you won't get the two copies of eyeTv that you need to use on a mac. If you have a Windows Media Center Edition (I think?), XBMC, or a few other pieces of software, you can use this without using eyeTv software, and you would then purchase the cheaper stand alone product.

However if you have a Mac, this package is the way to go. The eyeTv software is excellent. Allows easy recording, encoding (for playing on iPhone/iPad/Apple TV/etc), and works incredibly well. It's a stark contrast to most third party windows clients that don't seem well thought up, and a lot of times are just a pain to deal with.

You can also play live tv (requires Core 2 Duo mac, or the elgato Turbo .264 HD) on your iPad/iPhone, and recorded tv as well. The catch is that you have to have a computer with the eyeTv software running on it to do this. There is XBMC for iPad, which can connect directly to it, however since it is uncompressed, over wifi it means a lot of stuttering.

Using this on my ~2006 iMac worked very well, and worked even better on my wife's ~2010 MacBook Pro. It's nice to be able to open up and use it on either computer without having to move a hardware tv tuner. It's also especially nice on a laptop because you don't have a dongle and antenna hanging off the laptop.

I'd recommend this product over any of the other elgato tuners, unless you need a product that can take in video (composite, etc) which the HDHomeRun cannot do. It records/views super easy, and since there are two tuners you can record one and watch another.

Edit: I failed to mention that this little box has TWO tv tuners in it. On my iMac eyeTV will even record two shows at once. Don't have recording setup on the other computer, so not sure if it can do one in each place, but it should be able to. This is also the updated version of the HDHomeRun hardware, the only differences I could find online were that this box is smaller and better looking, and instead of two antenna/cable connectors, there is just one for both tuners.
Elgato HDHomeRun Network Dual Tuner for HDTV for Mac or PC (10023030) Reviews
Awesomeness!! . Elgato HDHomeRun Network Dual Tuner for HDTV for Mac or PC
Cut off my Comcast cable TV that we only used to record our weekly shows that are available over the ATSC airwaves for free. Put the HDHomeRun on the network, installed EyeTV on our iMac and started recording all of our shows, I have it set to automatically export an h.264 AppleTV formatted copy to my iTunes library when recording is complete, so all we have to do is flip to my library on the AppleTV and bam save $150 a month!
I also installed the EyeTV app on my iPhone and my daughters iPod from the App store and we can watch live tv or the recorded shows from anywhere we have an internet connection (even 3g) utilizing the free "My EyeTV service"!
Elgato HDHomeRun Network Dual Tuner for HDTV for Mac or PC (10023030) Opinions
Best free tv ever! . Using comcast internet, so getting the weird free cable channels. All the basic channels are there, plus some extras, including local radio stations! Very cool
Elgato HDHomerum great product . This is a great product. Set up and running on 2 macs in about 20 minutes. Great picture quality, easy to use.
Goodbye to pay TV . The set up was easy as pie. Very sensitive receiver brought in more channels (with a Winegard SS3000) than I had expected for my rural setting. The software is intuitive and stable, very good picture and sound quality. The guide is easy to use and the iPhone app makes recording a series very easy. Five stars if they had provided more information on using a remote control. For that purpose, there is good support information on the El Gato website. You just have to hunt for it a bit. My set up is a Mac Mini with and HDMI output via a Marantz pre amp to a Sharp projector. I'll never miss DirecTV (and the $80/month fee).
Good product no major flaws . I have a hard time finding any fault with the homerun tuner or the eyetv software. The tuner is as sensitive as any modern tv, but is does tend to run a little warm when the tuners are in use. The eyetv software is elegant and stable. The only drawback so far, you can not record on both tuners in the manual record mode, it is possible if you use the program guide to schedule simultaneous shows.Relying on over the air guide data can be a little wonky at times. The option to convert recordings to ipad, iphone etc is handy and makes very good looking files, but on my july 2011 model mac mini it takes forever and causes the mac's built in fan to spin up to a level I didn't know it was capable of, I'm a little concerned that continued use would lead to my macs early demise?
works as specified . Turns any computer into a TV screen and records shows. Picture quality excellent. it completely works as specified is reliable and good software.
The only weirdness is the TV screen jumps ok and I've no idea why.
Great device - but be sure your Wi-Fi is top notch . I like this device overall. It has worked well for me. Just know that it passes the digital stream *directly* into the network, with no compression. If the network is wireless (i.e. Wi-Fi), it can be easily overwhelmed and produce chops and delays in the resulting video.
Great Solution for DVR on Mac . This Tuner works very well for getting a TV signal to multiple Macs. The software is mostly elegant, and includes an automated workflow to move shows from the EyeTV software to your iTunes library (and by extension the Apple TV). The quality is great as long as the bandwidth holds up. HD content uses about 1.9MB/sec, SD about 600KB/sec. On an 802.11n, with the computer in close proximity to the router, things work great, though obviously it would be better if wired. The companion eyeTV software for iPad & iPhone is also excellent and overall this is a neat way to convert one ClearQAM or OTA signal for digital television to something that can be captured by any computer or i-device on your home network. Believe it or not, the eyeTV iPhone & iPad app will even let you stream your home TV signal to your phone or iPad ANYWHERE (even on 3G). Block and compressed, sure, but it does work!

Cons Review
Limited cable channels available . I am sure this is a fabulous device for people using an antenna or who are happy with limited cable channel availability. For this group, this is a 5-Star device. What was not clear to me when I purchased the HDHomeRun is that the device only receives unencrypted cable channels, which turns out to be a fraction of the available cable channels available on your TV through your cable box. This website will let you see what channels are available for the HDHomeRun in your area [...] The following is taken from the Elgato web site and explains why this device receives a limited selection of channel choices.

HDHomeRun (2011, Dual) has two tuners, and can receive either Digital Antenna (ATSC) or unencrypted DigitalCable (Clear QAM).

Digital cable service typically is made up of a few different types of signals, all on the same cable line:

1) Unscrambled analog cable - "Basic Cable" is what many people are familiar with, offering up to 125 channels of standard definition analog content. Analog services are being phased out.

2) Scrambled analog cable - "Premium Cable" includes channels like HBO, that can't be viewed without a cable box. No EyeTV product can receive premium analog cable directly. Analog services are being phased out.

3) Unencrypted digital cable - "Clear QAM" is similar to basic cable, but in digital form. The channels are not scrambled or blocked, but only a small number of channels are available for viewing. Some channels may be SDTV (standard), and some may be HDTV (high definition). Typically, networks like NBC or FOX will be present, along with public access, shopping, local, PBS, and perhaps some radio channels.

4) Encrypted digital cable - "Digital Cable" is typically encrypted, or encoded so that you need a cable box (or CableCARD) to view it. If you have 500 digital cable channels that you receive with a cable box, then the majority of these channels will be encrypted. A Clear QAM tuner can't receive encrypted digital cable; HDHomeRun (2011, Dual) can't receive the majority of your digital cable channels.

Therefore, HDHomeRun (2011, Dual) only receives a few cable channels, those that are Clear QAM (unencrypted). It cannot use a cable box, and it can't receive most of your channels. The channels it can receive vary city by city, and some channels may be there one day, and gone in a few months. Essentially, your cable company reserves the right to encrypt and decrypt channels at will, but usually you'll see the networks, and some other content.

To find out what Clear QAM channels may be available in your area, please use this website:

[...]

That said, Clear QAM tuners can receive HDTV content, if available. For example, ABC may start airing HDTV content at 8PM nightly. That may be 720p or 1080i, depending on the channel.

Clear QAM also sometimes offers more than one channel on the same frequency. In that case, EyeTV can open up all channels on the same frequency, at the same time (or any combination of channels on that frequency).

If you use digital cable, please be aware of the strengths and limitations of Clear QAM tuners before purchasing HDHomeRun (2011, Dual). You may want to contact your cable company, to find out if any of their channels are in Clear QAM format. You can also search the internet for such information - it's common to find an article or message board post from people in your same city who are already using Clear QAM content. Unfortunately, no master list of Clear QAM service providers is available to Elgato.

If your goal is to receive all of the channels that your Cable Box can get, including HDTV, then please consider EyeTV HD hardware.

With increased data bandwidth, true Plug-n-Play compatability and hot-swappability, USB has become the standard in low-mid speed peripheral communication. With this in mind, we developed the new MiniView KVMP switches with USB peripheral-sharing capability. Use the MiniView with a monitor, USB keyboard, USB mouse and two other USB devices - any USB devices. If you need to use more USB devices, connect a USB hub to increase the number of shared ports. With IOGEARs USB MiniView, peripheral sharing has never been easier.

This review is from : IOGEAR GCS102U - MiniViewTM USB KVMP Kit with Cables for MAC and PC
Great for Mac and PC Sharing . I bought this KVM a few weeks ago after scouring the web for USB KVM boxes. This was one of the few out there that qualified. The reason I needed a USB switch was for my wife's computer, which is an Apple Power Mac G4. The other computer hooked up to it is a clone Pentium 3 system. So far, we have not had any problems with the unit. In general, we tend to put the Apple in sleep mode when we shut in down rather then power it off altogether. When we switch back to the Apple after using the PC for a while, the Apple automatically turns on without having to wake it up. On the PC side, I am running Windows XP, and I normally shut it down in hibernation mode. Switching from the Apple to the PC, all I have to do is hit the power button, and I'm up and running with both the mouse and keyboard completely functional. One side note - I am using the Macintosh USB keyboard that came with the Power Mac, and the USB mouse is a Microsoft Optical. So far, both of these devices have worked great between the two computers. Also, we have an HP DeskJet printer which we share between the two computers, and I plugged the printer into one of the two USB slots that are on the front of the KVM. So far, it's worked great.Other then it being PC and MAC friendly, this is a great system if only for the fact that it comes complete with everything you need to set it up - no need to go out and buy more cables. The only drawback I could see is that you are limited to sharing the KVM between only two computers. But if what you are looking for is a good (and inexpensive) way to share one keyboard, mouse, and monitor with two computers (whether it is a MAC or PC), then this would be a sound solution for you.
IOGEAR GCS102U - MiniViewTM USB KVMP Kit with Cables for MAC and PC Reviews
Iogear 2 Port USB KVM Switch . I do like the Iogear KVM switch as it is an upgrade from the simpler switch I had before. The original only controlled the keyboard, mouse, and monitor. The new one controls those three, plus all USBs I have hooked up to it, from one computer to the other, including the printer.
The only three "setbacks" I have had with this switch is that it has to sit on my desktop because you have to press a button on the switch to change from one computer to the other. I would prefer the hot key (scroll lock) switch on my keyboard like my older model had. Second, the printer will stop printing if you switch computers while the printing job is still happening. I would like to see some type of a continuation set up that would allow the printer to finish the current job. Third, the USB ports are not 2.0 and therefore a little slow to recognize the switch. There is a unit that has all 2.0, but is 2 or 3 times more expesnive than this model. The cost difference is not worth it for a few seconds of lag time on the switch.
IOGEAR GCS102U - MiniViewTM USB KVMP Kit with Cables for MAC and PC Opinions
Works perfectly for enhanced keyboards. . I had another KVM that uses emulation to keep the system believing that there is always a connection, but when I upgraded to an enhanced keyboard, the enhancements wouldn't work. This switch doesn't use emulation, and all of the enhanced features now work well. I use my primary w/s for gaming and my Windows 2003 Server (x64 edition) is the other PC connected to this KVM, and this switch doesn't cause any issues.
KVM Switch IOGEAR . This is a great KVM switch for using two computers with one monitor and one USB keyboard and mouse. I have two and they both work great. One switches between a Mac Leopard and PC Windows XP Pro cpus. The second switches between a Mac OS9 and Mac Tiger OS. I would recommend this to anyone with two cpus. It is a great product and stands out for its ease of use. Simply plug in the cables and your off and running. No software to install. One simple click of the top switch moves you between cpus and an led light identifies which cpu you are on. Rev. Edward G Palmer
IOGear mini KVM switch . I got this to replace a Belkin flip KVM that showed promise but failed after about a week. It was easy to hook up and in a matter of minutes, both of my macs were up and running and with no problems. For the price, it's a great addition seeing as how I use both my G4 and G5 for different applications and most of my drive space on my G4 is for server use. I recommend this to anyone who needs a good but inexpensive KVM switch for their computers. Others seem to have issues with lag time when switching between machines, but I have no problem with that, the switch is almost immediate.
Great product! . Product worked flawlessly right out of the box. No emulation is great because like this I can use my Logitech keyboard and mouse combo. They use only 1 RF switch for both and the last KVM switch I purchased from Netgear didn't work. Only gripe is that it doesn't have an audio port, but it's not really a big deal. Other than that, I highly recommend the product.
A very useful product . . I purchased a new Windows Vista PC, and have 2 older PCs, an old Win98 and a 3year old Windows XP. The Vista is my main unit, but the others work fine with programs and games that work best on the computers they are on. I purchased a computer cart that let me mount both older towers and the monitor and peripherals off my XP. This switch comes with the cables you need along with the cables of your monitor, keyboard and mouse. Everything works and I am able to switch back and forth with only a seconds wait in between, You need two sets of speakers but thats minor. With a wireless network I have the newer PCs online and a dedicated old game box with very little extra hardware.
Perfect . I did a lot of research for solutions to switch between my PC and Mac Mini and this seemed to come highly recommended. I was sharing a monitor and wireless mouse.

Set up couldn't be easier, it comes with necessary cables and does exactly what it's supposed to. One push of a button and it flicks between computers in about a second.

I don't really understand the issue described by "An electronics fan" other than to say that perhaps it relates to either or both PCs being on some form of standby rather than the operation of the device itself. Works perfectly for me.

A great cost effective solution to device sharing.
fabulous . I bought it for work because I need to switch between Mac and PC. One touch switch, hardly any lag time, EASY to use and set up. I LOVE IT!

Cons Review
Just be sure to keep your receipt . Good: comes with all the cables you need to setup a switch for two systems to share a monitor, USB keyboard and USB mouse. Reasonably priced. Small size. Supposedly has hot switch capability.Bad: Recognized desktop, but wouldn't recognize laptop and wouldn't switch between systems. Basically my primary system would work as long as it was the first and only system I used. As soon as I hit the switch it was time to shut down and reboot both systems. I'm a well-above average user and I tried everything I could think of to make it work, read the directions from the start, booted up separately to allow initialization, checked the knowledge base website. After several frustrating hours I returned it.

Zoom 5241 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem 5241-02-00G 54

This review is from : 5241 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem
Nice model works without a problem . I used previosly the modem model 5041 over 5 years already. There were issues with connection at first time, but it was solved when I called to my provider (Comcast by the way). Since then I never had any problems with this equipment. I would keep it till it die of the old age but on Dec 14 2009 Comcast upgraded its network so I had to pick new modem from their approved list of modems for 3 days before of marked day. I checked reviews and picked the ZOOM 5241. I have wireless router (linksys 54G) connected to my 5241.
What did I do for setup.
1. Unplugged old modem from power, coaxial and router,
2. Plugged new modem 5241 to his power adapter, coaxial cable and router (with RJ45 connector),
3. Lunched Internet browser (Firefox or IE),
4. I got Comcast page with instructions automatically (It wouldn't let go for another until setup is done),
5. Followed technician instructions (which not require any special skills),
6. Entered my current account number and Comcast shown me all my data including physical and mac addresses. I did not plug in directly from modem to PC. At first Comcast did not pass linksys. I just ignored it and "run diagnostic" (which is just a button) again. Everything was set up automatically. After too reboots I got perfect connections wire and wireless.
Downloading speed jumped up dramatically.PS. One week later.
Zoom 5241 works now with renewed Comcast network very good. However once I lost connection but because of the my LinkSys 54G wireless router. After I hit reset button on it I got all my connections back. So it was a linksys issue. Right now Zoom + Linksys work flawlessly. And I noticed that downloading speed went up about 10 times faster (Limewire from 15-24 Kbs to 200-500 Kbs - 250 average).
Well 5041 is useless for Comcast IP for today anyway but 5241 works perfect. I picked mine in Fry's Electronics with described above characteristics for $54.
Good luck
2 Year later.
The Zoom modem still works without problems. However, LinkSys wireless transmission became unstable. It's possibly that it happens because of EM interference. I switched 54G to Linksys E1500. It works now so far so good.
Two month later.
The Linksys E1500 router refused to work. I had long conversation with Cisco, following their instruction, and they agreed that it was defective. So, I returned it. Ironically, the old router LinkSys 54G, which I tried again, suddenly started to work without loosing a signal. Anyway, the modem is still on and never failed.
5241 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem Reviews
Fast set-up . Hi Folks,

Just got the Zoom cable modem this afternoon, and what I can tell you is this, the unit was up and running with in 15 mins, how well will it work the jury is still out. This also is the BEST SERVICE on delivery to-date with Amazon. I got the unit in two business days very cool beans. I will keep you all advised on the workings of the unit soonest.
Not too shabby . The cable modem I bought works very well. Only bad thing was it had a sticky residue covering the outside of it otherwise was a great buy.
5241 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem Opinions
If you're thinking about it just get it. . It arrived shortly after ordering. The prongs on the plug were a little bent, but I just got out the pliers and fixed it. Just plug everything in how comcast, or whoever, has theirs set up and you're almost there. The next time you try to log on to the internet, it will walk you through how to register it and then internet will be yours and you will no longer have to pay comcast their 7 dollars every month for a little box that you can install all by yourself.
Well kept secret . As the owner of a home and small office support company, I have installed dozens of this modem. Zoom and USRobotics made the modems of choice back in the days of dialup and neither has made a smooth transition to the broadband era with the same amount of popularity. However, that doesn't mean that Zoom has given up. You have to search for these modems, unlike the popular (and also well made) Motorola; but the Zooms are generally cheaper than the Surfboard modems and rock solid. I do knock one star off the Ease of Use stat because unlike the Motos' this one does not have diagnostic access. Useless for the average joe, but handy for those of us that know what to do with it.

If you are going to buy a cable modem, go with either the Zoom or the 41xx/51xx Motorola Surfboards. The Zooms are rock solid modems that rarely ever crash and can easily handle being swamped with hundreds of simultaneous connections. I used my Zoom 5241 on a 20/2Mbit Insight connection for 3 years easily pushing near 2Megabyte/sec downloads with 600 connections in uTorrent while also watching streamed video on one computer while my girlfriend played World of Warcraft on the other. (Couple of times, my friend threw some online multiplayer into the mix with my XBox360/PS3) Mind you, I did also have a BEAST of a router to also handle all this (I do miss my Cisco4500 ;)

It's now been running for two more years as the modem for a small rural local library with 10 computers, pubic wifi, and a 12/1 connection since I donated it to them. Probably about the only equipment there that hasn't had issues... The donation gave me an excuse to buy a DOCSIS3.0 motorola 61xx modem... It sucked. It would TANK anytime I had uTorrent running. So I took it back and bought another 5241. Rock solid for two years. I may buy the newer Zoom DOCSIS3 modem at some point, but I hear my current provider, Mediacom, is having some stability issues with the DOCSIS3 modems.

I *won't* be buying a Motorola 61xx modem though.

Long story short, buy this modem, or a Motorola 41xx/51xx Surfboard; or nothing at all. As for the newer DOCSIS3 modems, maybe the Motos got better, but I put my trust in the Zooms. If their 3G Cellular Aircards are any indication (come on AT&T, you want a 2yr contract for a ruddy aircard when you can pay $70 to own a Zoom and not have to sign a contract?), their whole line of products is fairly priced and top notch.

And yes... I have become a Zoom fanboi.
Get what you pay for... oh wait. . Strange, because when I purchased my Zoom modem it was under $30 and it was the defining reason I bought it. Over the last year it has been my keeper of the internets. Delivering all my content to my router and throughout the house. It worked great up until about a month ago. It would start resetting itself every other day or so where I would have to power cycle it by unplugging it. Within the last week, it started doing that every 3 hours or less. Very annoying.

We don't have TV in our home because it's the devil. That, and there's so much available content on the internet through Hulu, Netflix and other services we don't need traditional cable. The linchpin that was the Zoom modem finally gave out. I'm sure they are reliable, but it definitely felt like a cheaper product from the moment I opened it and set it up. Of course it's easy to install, it's a cable modem, and like most electronics you know with a day if it's going to work or not. I think the little fella just got over heated where I was putting it against the wall and gave up on life.

Not a bad product, but if it's $59.99 as currently advertised I would pick up a Motorola or other brand.
Great little cable modem . After some issues with my previous provider, I decided to go Comcast internet in the North Atlanta area. I called and they said they could install the next day, so I ran out get a modem and found this one along with several more expensive ones at a local electronic mega store. I decided to go with this one because 1) It was cheap and 2) I have owned several Zoom products over the years and never had any issue with them.

The cable guy came out, he did not really approve my modem selection, but was impressed with the performance. It has been working with any issue for 3 months now, so I am quite happy with it. It is not the latest standard, but I figured I would get a few years of use out of it before it dies, or I need to upgrade. My only issue would be that it is very light and the cable will drag it off the desk if you are not careful.

So that's it, it is cheap and it works, what more do you want.
Super Solid Cable Modem - Win 7 and Cox compatible . Easy to review--looked at MS and COX websites to find certified compatible modem--Zoom was the only one (at the time) that fit the bill. Excellent out of the box experience, no connectivity issues, plenty of through-put. I'd buy another, but (knock wood) I'll need to do so!

Cons Review
Inexpensive but cheap . I bought this item through Fry's for a little bit more, but I needed a cable modem right away. I got home thinking I got a deal, and for the first two months, I did. For the last two weeks the cable modem has been dropping the carrier signal about twice a day. For regular browsing this wouldn't be a big deal, but it becomes a hassle to start netflix movies over and to repeatedly get kicked out of games. I have contacted customer service, but do not have a resolution yet. I will keep you posted.

The verdict:
-Easy to use and set up
-Performs well when it works
-Has a life span of 2 months

Save yourself the time and buy a cable modem that cost $20 more. You will be happier in the long run.

TP-Link TG-3468 Gigabit PCI-E Network Adapter & Wake-on-LAN supporting

This review is from : TP-Link NT TG-3468 32-bit Gigabit
Say goodbye to PCI! . Let's face it, most new motherboards are going with more PCI-E 1x slots and less standard PCI slots as time progresses. More often than not, the layout of modern mainboards almost always guarantees that your PCI slot will be blocked by something (I'm looking at you double wide graphics card!).Almost as common of a dilemma is the chance of your integrated network adapter dying on you. This particular gigabit adapter works a charm, although I recommend using the official TP-Link drivers from their website. I had a few bugs with the automatically installed Windows drivers and/or the Realtek drivers. Eventually I went to TP-Link's website and got the official drivers and now it works like a charm using Win7 x64!
TP-Link NT TG-3468 32-bit Gigabit Reviews
Network Card - Works as advertised . I bought this when I found that my motherboard had only a 10/100 Mbps ethernet connection. I threw this in the open PCI-E slot, let windows find the drivers and I was set. It just uses the generic realtek chipset so the drivers aren't anything special.

The card itself is actually quite well constructed, the bracket is quite a solid piece of metal compared to other pci cards I have used before. Also has 4 LED's to tell you your connection speed. Overall not bad for only $16.

This review is from : Belkin Front-Access In-Desk USB Hub 3-Inch (F5U201-KIT)
Almost perfect. . This item, for the most part is great. First, it comes with a six-foot USB cable. That allows me to put the device in a better spot that directly above the CPU. Also, in testing, I'm able to get near full-speed USB 2.0, which was a concern, despite the mention of such in the product manual.

The above being said, I have three beefs with the unit. First, it's only available in silver. plain black would have been nice. Honestly, the silver/black combo is hideous. Second, I despise blue LEDs on items that are stationary, and in my face. These include USB hubs, car stereos, and laptops. They are painful to look at. Red is gentler on the eyes and doesn't kill night vision if you're working in the dark. My third, and last, complaint is the power cable. While the USB cable is plenty long, the power cable is a standard three feet. It would be nice if it were six feet.
Belkin Front-Access In-Desk USB Hub 3-Inch (F5U201-KIT) Reviews
Perfect Port . Own a Dell desktop that only has ports in the back. Now I don't have to keep sliding my cpu in and out of my desk for my accessories. Only complaint I have is with the blue light on top. As far as I know it doesn't turn off. I have mine installed in my keyboard slide tray, so its under the top of the desk.(I made the housing hole in my desk by tracing the circle peice, drilled small holes on the line, and popped the wood out with a flat head screw driver and a hammer) The lip of the peice covers the rough edges you created so it looks flush.
Belkin Front-Access In-Desk USB Hub 3-Inch (F5U201-KIT) Opinions
Great except for the LED . I don't normally write reviews for products, but I feel inspired to for this product. The USB hub works great, it fits in a 3" hole perfectly. I use a laptop on a very deep desk and really got tired of seeing a ton of wires running all over on top of it. The hub has holes on the sides so you can easily route wires, which cleans up my desk completely.

The only real problem I have with this product is that damn LED. Its super bright. I read reviews before purchasing stating this, but I shrugged them off thinking it wouldn't be so bright. I was wrong. Don't think you can just put a piece of electrical tape over it, it will shine through it. I ended up having to double electrical tape the thing to get the brightness down.

The brightness really isn't a problem when you are sitting at your desk, its when you are up and moving around in the room that its a problem.

Anyway, just my two cents.
It works as expected. . Nice little product. I was looking for a recessed USB hub that I can install in the wall and this was the best I could find. It would be great if there was no need for power supply. I didn't realize it had it when I ordered it. But since I couldn't find anything that would suit my need, this will do just fine.
1 out of 2 . Pros: Fits the advertised hole size, USB ports work, blue light creates a nice glow behind my screens, excellent for cable management, plenty of cord length.

Cons: Of the two units I ordered, one had a faulty power adapter.

Other thoughts: While reading the reviews on this product, I realized that if the bright blue LED was a major complaint, I could capitalize on that by positioning two of these behind my screens while building my new desk. This idea worked out perfectly with the exception that only one of these units is functional due to a power adapter issue. The second one is basically a dummy, but I really don't need the extra ports, I just wanted it to make my desk symmetrical. Being located behind my screens, they are out of the way, subdued but available.

The gaps on the sides of the unit provide for ALL of my cable management needs, this includes 4 screens, mouse, keyboard, external HD, Bamboo pen & touch, 5.1 Surround front/center speakers and headset - you can fit a LOT of wires and cables through each!
great gub for a great price . This hub works great and is easy to hook up. It doesn't take up to much space and is a great value for the price.
Great Product! . Love this usb hub. Looks nice and fits perfectly in the hole made by the 3" hole saw. Will buy again when I get the chance.
Nice product . This is a great addition to 2 of my systems where I am often changing or only sporatically using various USB devices. One of the systems is mounted in a location taht does not make access to the rear panel easy, so this really fits the bill.
Belkin powered desktop USB port . The belkin powered desktop USB port does not disappoint! Search other sites & found the best deal here @ amazon. Extremely helpful if your CPU is tucked in or under your desk & you use a lot of USB devices (for me, thumb drives, externals, iPod, iPhone; I'm z student). Long cords to reach around big desks & adds desktop appeal. Easy install if you know how to drill a hole & plug in 2 cables.

Cons Review
Not very well made - very cheap plastic . Seemed kinda overpriced for the poor quality of the construction. Also, it could just be me, but it seems like the USB plugs are up-side-down (I would naturally put them in the other other way, and have to remember to turn then USB plug each time I plug something in.)

Otherwise - ok

TRENDnet 200 Mbps Powerline AV Adapter with Bonus Outlet TPL-304E (White)

The 200Mbps Powerline AV Adapter with Bonus Plug, model TPL-304E, uses any electrical outlet to create a secure high speed building-wide network.

This review is from : TRENDnet 200 Mbps Powerline AV Adapter with Bonus Outlet TPL-304E (White)
Perfect Alternative for Running Wires! . These are the perfect alternative to running CAT5e cables throughout your house, or working in wireless dead zones. Very easy to setup! Just plug in, push a button, and your connection is there and encrypted. Only reason I didn't give these 5 stars was because they do cover the second outlet on a typical home 2 plug wall outlet. While you can plug something into these devices, it's a little irritating that the second outlet cannot also be used. Otherwise excellent product from TRENDnet.

Cons Review
Not recommend . I won't recommend this product.
I got the TPL-304E, installed in my 2 years old townhouse. If the two adapters are in the same room (different outlet), the transmit speed is rated around 140Mbps. However, if I move one to the second floor, the speed drops to <50mbps. Worse than my wireless N router. This is acceptable if no other issues.
Pros: The setup is very simple, plug in, press the sync button, and it works.
Cons: But beware of the password issue. There is a 16-digit password printed on the back of adapter. The password is required to setup the network security. It did not work. I tried >100 times and all kinds of combination, every time I got the "password is invalid" message. This password is the "permanent password" attached to each of the adapter. You will need it if you want to set a security password and decide which adapter can access the network. Called trendnet, they can do nothing about it. By talking to them, I got a feeling this problem is very common. The permanent password is generated by manufacture and cannot be changed by reset. And if it is wrong, you are out of luck, the manufacture (trendnet) doesn't have any record of what is the correct one even if I provide the S/N.
Also I highly recommend using Netgear's powerline adapter software instead of the one provided by TrendNet. The trendnet software is very poor and has almost nothing you can tweak.
Last thing: have been using the powerline for last 3 days and had encountered once the network breakdown. I have to unplug and replug the adapter to re-establish the connection.
