SUPER FAST SETUP AND CONNECTION TIME!!! . I'm happy I didn't read the reviews before buying this amazing adapter, because I now own one of the best USB network adapters money can buy! I do have to say that I did buy the lower grades of Belkin adapters and they were in now way comparable to this model... I'm averaging twice the network speed and blazing through internet sights like never before! I have been using the adapter with no problems what so ever with a netgear WNDR3700 N600... I will report back if I experience any adverse reactions to my computer/and or operating system. I'm not a computer network expert or wiz but rest assured that you do not need to be one in order to maximize the full benefits of this unit.
Thank you

Belkin Play Wireless USB Adapter (F7D4101) Reviews
Great wireless adapter . As a computer expert I had quite a difficult time getting this device to connect to my Belkin router model F5D8235-4. I could not set it up manually they way I usually do. Instead I was forced to broadcast my SSID which I normally don't do and use the WPS method of connecting. This should actually be easier to setup for most people using that method anyway. All you do is press the WPS button on the router for more than 3 seconds. Then press the button on the wireless adapter to complete the automatic configuration. I still had to put my key in manually but it connected fine after that. I'm very happy with the speed and performance of this adapter while it is connected. One more thing: I'm using the 802.11n mode only on my router since I only have this one device on my network right now.
Belkin Play Wireless USB Adapter (F7D4101) Opinions
GREAT BARGAIN FOR THE PRICE!!! . Title says it all. I almost purchased the exact same item at a retail store for 3x the price I paid! The only thing that bothers me is that it is so bulky that it blocks my other USB ports, but if you a attach a USB extension cord you're good to go! When it comes to portable USB adapters, the penny pincher can't go wrong with this one. AMAZING VALUE!! Best quality for less. Speed Test clocked me 12mb p/s while I was getting 13 wired! Tell me that's not something good?! Plus Password free configururation using the WiFi button (with matching router). So satisfied with this product that I bought 2!
Belkin F7D4101 . I had trouble receiving an adequate signal on my laptop when at any distance over about 20 feet from my AT&T "2 wire" router/modem. The Belkin adapter now gives me a range of almost 100'. I bought the device with some reservation but thought I'd try it. I'm impressed. Also highly satisfied.

Cons Review
Buggy!! . This piece of crap not only has problems working with the N600 HD a Belkin product, but it is continually hosing up. You have to disable, wait, and then enable this thing all of the time to get to work. Anytime you re-boot your laptop, close the lid to move to another room, you have to either unplug the adapter or go though the disable, enable thing. Save your money go with something else.
do not buy it . I bought this in walmart, disabled the wifi card in my laptop, installed the driver for the Belkin Play wireless usb adapter, then the adapter. I am using another belkin wireless router (older, 802.11g). Normally my laptop gets excellent connection in my room. I'm using windows 7.

I give the usb adapter 1 star for detecting the router in the first place. Couldn't connect at all, and it would get poor to fair (2 mostly, maybe 3 bars randomly) in my room. To get an excellent connection i had to be in the same room as the router, like another review said, like 20 feet.

Utter junk. Last time I use belkin. Not even gonna bother to see if it works better with the Play Max router.

Returning it ASAP.
Caused my new Dell to crash . As soon as the disk software was installed my brand new Dell with Windows 7 started crashing routinely. I even worked with Dell tech support (at the first level) and they couldn't find a software that didn't make the computer crash. Taking it back. Who's got time for this nonsense?
Extremely poor results when used with Belkin Play Max . These comments apply to using the Belkin Play Max Router with the Belkin Play Wireless dual band USB Adapter (F7D4101). After wasting 7-8 hours messing around with this router it still had absolutely no range on either 2.4 or 5Ghz bands. Both bands start dropping off at 20' even in an open room. Going into the next room or up a short open staircase and I was quickly out of range or this router. Way less range then my old Linksys WRT54GX router. The Belkin did connect at 300mbps on 2.4Ghz and 216mbps on the 5Ghz band at close range but internet speed tests on either band with the Belkin router connected to a Comcast cable modem with a 7' Cat 5e cable were no better than the Linksys g router connected at 54mps. Both gave wireless speeds of about 14,000Kbs down and 2500Kbs up, probably limited by the Comcast connection. For reference, connecting to the Comcast cable modem with a Cat 6 cable directly to my Lenovo T60 tested about 20,000Kbs down and 2500Kbs up. Had to return the Belkin Play Max and am currently back to my Linksys g router because it has triple the range or more than the Belkin n.

Excellent Product . Works exactly as it should, bridges the gap of unplugging and reconnecting wires. Excellent! Highly recomend when you need to plug in your laptop to an exsisting printer thats already connected to something else! A+
WOWparts LK-21901 USB 2.0 Auto Sharing Switch for Printer Scanner (2 Way, 2 PC to Share 1 Printer) Reviews
Excellent Product August 22 2011 . Frustrated with trying to keep my printer shared with my grandson's computer over a home network, this product appeared to be the solution. Ordered it Friday afternoon, 8/19/2011 and received it in the mail today, 8/22/2011 - WOW for WOWparts! Hooked it up and tried using the buttons on top and it worked perfectly. Loaded the included software, selected Cntrl-F11, and it worked perfectly. Problem solved for less than $20.00 including 2 cables to connect the device to each of my desktop computers running Windows XP SP3. No cables come with the switch, but the ones I purchased were less than $3.00, so no big deal. My printer cable connects to the switch.

I give this product 5 stars because it solved my need to easily share one printer between to computers, quick receipt from WOWparts and the fact it works exactly as advertised.
WOWparts LK-21901 USB 2.0 Auto Sharing Switch for Printer Scanner (2 Way, 2 PC to Share 1 Printer) Opinions
Great product Awesome value! . This little device is awesome! It works perfectly. My wife and I share two printers and we continuously had problems with printer hubs that didn't support our machines and stuff like that. Not to mention those printing port/hubs what ever their called were way to expensive for what they didn't do. This little box resolved those problems. My system is 32 bit and my wife's is 64 bit. This little box didn't care. It works just as well. Thanks a million.
Printer Switch - Works Great! . This is one of those great products that is truly plug-n-play. Just plug it in and it works. No software or drivers to download. No power supply that hogs up your power strip. Also nice and compact. Doesn't take up hardly any desk space. Good job guys!
good little device . i went for the least expensive switcher and it totally did the job. no hesitation in recommending this to others.
Like most usb switching devices i have used, there is always some delay before your device is accessible.

Auto Sharing Switch . I bought this to share a keyboard and mouse between two computers. In short, the device delivers. You plug everything in and it works, without need to install any software. Switching control between computers is easy; just press a one or second button on top of the device.
printer sharing switch . A great little gadget that allows me to have both of my computers print on the same printer. A simple press of one of the buttons and I can select computer 1 or computer 2 to print from. This was an inexpensive solution that works well and is small in size.

Cons Review
switcheroooo phooey . I wouldn't give this product a single star if it were possible. Fortunately I paid less than $10 for the switch, although the it isn't worth any amount of money. It requires two USB cables which are easily acquired(each with a USB Type A and Type B end)to connect from the switch to your computers. The first time I tried using the switch, I thought one of my cables was defective when the printer only received part of a one-page data file I sent. I swapped cables, since the other computer sent data successfully, and still had no success printing. Yesterday the switch quit completely. Neither of the lights indicating which port (computer) is being used even bother to light up and no data reaches the printer regardless which computer is sending it. All in all, the switch is a worthless piece of junk! Don't purchase it.
Did not work for me. . Would not work on two computers. One computer recognized and the other did not. When I tired to get refund merchant wants me to mail back to them. Unfortunately, the cost to mail back is more than what I paid for. Better to purchase at local merchant so if does not work for you you can take back and get full refund. Not worth the gamble to purchase from this merchant on Amazon.
not mac compatible . I wanted to share a mouse/keybd between a mac and a pc. The only way the switch would work was to turn off one computer or physically disconnect the usb cable. The software was worthless

Look mom, no wires! The AppleM-^Y Airport networking card works in conjunction with the Airport wireless-networking base station and lets you network multiple MACM-^Y computers together with no wires. It works with radio signals so you can use it anywhere in the house up to 150 feet of the base station with a flawless, uninterrupted signal. Although all of the computers can run from one base, each unit must be equipped with an Airport card to send and receive signals from the base station.

This review is from : Apple Airport Networking Network Card (AIRPORTCARD)
Should have bought this years ago . Very fast delivery, easy to install, works exactly as promised. Brings my husband's old computer into the 21st century--why didn't I do this years ago??
Apple Airport Networking Network Card (AIRPORTCARD) Reviews
Worked good . Bought this card to replace one I got a few years back. Got it on a hunch - couldn't figure out why I couldn't connect to the internet and tried just about everything I could. Guessed the card went bad so I bought this one in hopes that it would solve my problem. It did - worked good. Pulled the old one out, put this one in, restarted and I was good to go.
Apple Airport Networking Network Card (AIRPORTCARD) Opinions
A Great Product And Price . The product came the first day it was estimated to come, and it was as described, the Airport Card was compatible with my laptop and worked great. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Airport card . Airport card arrived in perfect condition within days of ordering it. Works perfectly! Top marks!
Airport Card . This was one of the most amazing internet transactions I have ever had. The card works great. Fast, return accepted and refunded. Nice. I'm kinda sorry I'm married.
Lacks N and G . It works great for my iBook 3G. I have had it for a while now and is still working great. Wish it had N or G even

With the iCON 452, both consumers and mobile professionals are equipped to take full advantage of tomorrow’s faster mobile broadband services, thanks to upload speeds of up to 5.76Mbps and download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. The quad-band technology (including AWS) in this innovative, stylish and easy-to-use device ensures true worldwide coverage with broadband speeds. Thanks to its innovative Micro-SD card slot it also serves as a highly effective portable storage solution, capable of holding several gigabytes of data. With its ultra-compact format (just 76mm x 27mm x 13mm), unique retractable USB connector and weight of only 22g, the iCON 452 is the ideal solution for users needing fast, future-proof mobile connectivity.

This review is from : Option iCON 452 USB Modem
Great Modem . I picked this modem up a few years ago because I was looking for a 3G GSM modem that would work with T-Mobile and AT&T in the US. As you might guess, this can be a pain because T-Mobile has the AWS 3G allocation, whereas AT&T has the frequencies the rest of the world is using for the most part. I've gotten close to the 7.2 MB speeds in Newark, NJ and Bellevue, WA so no complaints as to whether or not the device itself can perform, though your local network will obviously vary.

I've gotten it to work on Windows, Mac OS X and more recently, my Cradlepoint PHS300 (it didn't work until a firmware update sometime this year). If you want just one 3G GSM card to take around when traveling, this is it.
Option iCON 452 USB Modem Reviews
Short USB connector . I got this modem mostly to use it abroad (but also with T-mobile), so I didn't use it much yet, besides for checking to see if it works.
I can't comment much about the speed and other factors, because I didn't get to use it for real life situations, but the USB connector is a few millimeters shorter than a normal connector, and because of that it won't go all the way in some USB ports. This causes it to come out at the slightest move, so you better hold your laptop VERY still while using it. I think I will take Dremmel and remove a bit of the plastic near the connector so that it can go in deeper and be more stable.

Other thoughts: I live in an area with very poor signal, EDGE only. My cellphone can connect (barely) if I put it in a window. This modem does not appear to maintain a connection, and haven't been able to transfer data with it.
Option iCON 452 USB Modem Opinions
Good product . The product itself is great, I was just unlucky that I received a used product instead of new but needed it and did not have the patience to go back and forth.

Cons Review
Haven't been able to get it to work . So, I bought this product, thinking I could use my SIM from my company blackberry to actually work from my laptop while traveling. Needless to say, I have not been able to connect to the internet. The instructions in the PDF must be referencing different software because I don't have a "more settings" option when GlobalConnect is open. And, no my PIN is not enabled. Wast of money thus far.

Feature Option iCON 452 USB Modem

  • High-Speed: Upload 5.76Mbps, Download 7.2Mbps
  • GSM Quad-Band Configuration for Worldwide Usage (including AWS)
  • Innovative Micro-SD Card Slot Allowing Several GB of Storage

Kensington Pocket Hub 3-Port USB and Sync Travel Hub for iPod and iPhone

Price : Too low to display
BUY NOW
Charge and sync your iPhone or iPod without losing a USB port. The Kensington PocketHub 3-Port USB and Sync lets you stay connected to your peripherals while charging and syncing your iPhone. The PocketHub has a built-in 30-pin connector port that lets you charge and sync your iPhone or iPod, plus 3 additional USB 2.0 ports for connecting your camera, flash drive, mouse and other USB devices. The PocketHub can also function as a stand-alone charger for your iPhone or iPod with the supplied power adapter. Protective travel cover included.

This review is from : Kensington Pocket Hub 3-Port USB and Sync Travel Hub for iPod and iPhone
Terrific solution for travel or desktop use . I have many USB hubs, iPod docks, and combination hubs and docks. Each seems to have a shortcoming: not enough current to charge/operate multiple devices, doesn't allow syncing with certain Apple products, etc. This one appears to do it all, not a hiccup in the weeks I've had it.

It is also handy that the USB cord folds into the body of the hub, and a slip-on cover neatly tucks the entire device into a smooth shape. If you're like me, nothing is more annoying than reaching into a drawer or pouch with knotted up cables... this bypasses that issue altogether, packs away neatly.

The current output of the hub's power supply (it can be used without, if desired) is enough to charge my iPhone, run an LED-illuminated keyboard (uses two USB plugs for power), and my thumbdrive-of-the-day. That's no easy feat, as the LED keyboard has caused my other hubs to shut down prematurely.

Purchased at what I think is a reasonable price, I am considering getting a second one.
Kensington Pocket Hub 3-Port USB and Sync Travel Hub for iPod and iPhone Reviews
Short cable little support . Just received it. Seems to work as described. A couple of caveats for other purchasers: (1) The cable is just as short as it looks in the photo--for most uses, you are likely to need a USB extension cable. (2) The phone is supported only by the connector when mounted in "portrait" orientation (you can also turn it sideways, in which case the phone is supported mostly by the desk). This may be good or bad: it might be compatible with a (thin) iPhone case (although there is not much clearance at the bottom), but you will need to treat it gently to avoid stressing the connector.
Kensington Pocket Hub 3-Port USB and Sync Travel Hub for iPod and iPhone Opinions
works but. . . . . So I bought this product for around $30. It does work charging my iphone 4 and also providing powered usb ports. However I bought this product hoping to charge multiple iphones at once. While the main dock does work (I didn't try syncing though) the usb ports will NOT work with my Apple brand usb iphone 4 cable that came with the phone. I did have success with a 3rd party cable so it might be an Apple thing. Just a little warning for those hoping to charge multiple iphones on it.
Perfect so far . I was a little worried by the reviews for this product, but I bought it anyway because it's exactly the setup I was looking for.

I've been using the product for a couple days and so far it's been excellent. I can use it with an external USB drive and my iPhone 4 charging at the same time, WITHOUT plugging in the power adapter and it works great. And I am using it over a 6 foot USB extension cable.

I will update this review in the future if it stops working or has any problems, but so far I am very glad I purchased it.

Cons Review
The Kensington PocketHub is complete garbage. . I've never been a fan of Kensington, but calling this product complete garbage is too complimentary. Seriously, this ranks as one of the worst USB hubs that I've owned in my entire life.

I purchased the device from my local Apple Store at a whopping $39.95 --- what overpriced garbage! The device seems convenient as it gives you three extra USB ports plus the ability to dock and sync your iPhone. Does it work? Not a chance in hell. Despite the fact the product comes with the AC charger to keep the USB hub powered, not a single device would work in here that I tried. My Logitech G9x laser mouse? Overpowered it. My Logitech G35 headphones? Overpowered it. Seagate 2TB external hard drive? Overpowered it. Wait for it... wait for it... iPhone 4? Overpowered it. Not only that, it would fail in the middle of a sync! Wow.

I can't even.

Simply put: don't purchase this item.

This review is from : USB Video Capture
Very good for the money . After reading some of the other reviews I wanted to leave some thoughts of my own for anyone interested in some proper comments from a person with some degree of video editing. Before I get into specifics however, I'd like to say a few words about video and video capture that could very well have been factors with other folks reviews.

The first thing you need to know about working with video on a computer, be it with this product or others, is that video is a resource intensive thing. If you are running an older system and particularly an "off the shelf" computer, such as an HP, Dell or other so-called "name brands", very simply you may have some problems. Please remember that many of these computers are designed for your average brain dead computer user who is typically interested in surfing the internet, playing their mp3's, im'ing, email, watching Youtube, playing games, etc. They are -NOT- professional systems designed for video production!!!! Even when you watch one of these newer animated movies where in the credits you see something like "computers provided by Hewlett Packard", be assured those systems were custom built for their specific function and are NOT the same systems you typically see at Best Buy or Micro Center. In other words, if your system is using a slower hard drive or an older IDE drive (I recommend at least a fast SATA...7200 rpm is a good place to start) or you're trying to do everything from a single hard drive that's loaded with a bunch of crap, your very likely going to have problems.

The second thing is that working with video on a computer is -complicated-. Ok, I can't stress this enough...if you really delve into the world of PC video, you'll find yourself wading hip deep in a cesspool of compression codecs, video formats, frame rate issues and specialized software that can easily boggle the most experienced PC user. Despite the packaging hype, this stuff is -NOT- really as simple as "press a button and go" the way you would on your VCR or your TIVO. If you think that programming the display on your VCR is complicated, prepare to be flabbergasted!!! Now I'm sure that someone just said "but all I want to do is put some of my old VHS tapes on DVD" and that's all fine and dandy but know this; if you really want professional looking results, there -IS- a learning curve here...and it's a steep one. Just using the wrong video codec...or using the right codec the wrong way...can give you really BAD looking video (or audio). To be perfectly blunt, don't blame the vid unit here is you simply have no clue what you're doing!!!!! It's a very good unit but there are -A LOT- of really stupid people out there...and unfortunately they seem to be all to willing to leave reviews on product that have no knowledge about at all.

Now all of that said, I'm using this Diamond VC-500 on a system I custom built for doing photography and video editing...it's not top of the line, but it's pretty tweaked out for doing this kind of work. I'm not running any screen savers at all, my desktop is blue...plain blue...no idiotic pictures of Final Fantasy or other such crap. I don't have IM running in the background (in fact I don't use instant messaging -at all-) and really the -only- thing that loads on my PC at start up beside my drivers is my anti-virus software (ok...ok...I do have SQL server running in the background most of the time for one of my photo apps). Beyond solitaire and an old copy of Doom 2, I don't have any games on my system -at all-...if you want to be a gamer, get a separate system for your video work!!! I do use this system for email and I do have Firefox installed, but straight up, I don't have a lot of useless crap on my system...it's a "work PC" and that's what I use it for. The system itself is an Intel based, quad core, Intel motherboard, 2 gigs of ram (I'd really recommend at least 4 gigs if your serious about this stuff, if not 8) and I'm running 3 beefy, fast hard drives. The OS is Windows XP 64 bit with SP3 installed.

So with all of that out of the way, let's get down to business... The first issue that I've seen concerning these Diamond units is audio lag. My first try here, recording about 20 minutes of video from my Sony Video 8 Handycam, using the default software (EZ Grabber) set to DVD...no problems with lag AT ALL. If you have problems with audio lag, I STRONGLY suspect it's either a codec issue or simply your PC. Again let's be clear on this...don't blame the capture unit if you're running a bunch of crap on your PC or you were ignorant enough to install Windows Vista, etc.. The same applies to your experience or lack there of...don't blame the cap unit if you simply have no idea what the devil you're doing!!!! Quite honestly, this is a really great little unit so far...no issues with the install and set up and for a video device, it's actually one of the easiest I've found to use. Diamond Multimedia has a well deserved reputation for quality products and this VC-500 stands up to that reputation very well, particularly considering the price! In fact the -only- issue that I've had so far is that there does appear to be some minor degree of scan lines in the video I've recorded. Nothing that can't be cleaned up in post and I suspect it could simply be the 10 year old camcorder itself but it would be interesting to compare the quality directly with a higher end capture unit. Otherwise, this little unit was pretty much good to go right out of the box and works really well for getting those old analog vids onto a PC (and I won't comment on Macs...if you were really dumb enough to spend that much money on a piece of fruit, you're on your own).

I would like to add a couple of notes here... First, expect large file sizes. If you're use to working with highly compressed FLV files or something similar, you need to remember that DVD quality MPG, let alone uncompressed AVI's take up a TON of space on your hard drive (yet another reason to use multiple FAST harddrives!). The vid clip I just recorded was somewhere just over 15 minutes and the file size is just about a gig....pretty hefty. As far as quality goes, also remember that if your recording from a camcorder or a VCR (trying to save some space on the ol' video shelf), that not all camcorders and VCR's are created equal. Remember that your video (and audio) quality are only going to be as good as the equipment they were recorded on. For example if you're using that cheapy Fujiyamoshi VCR you got at a closeout store for $40 and you've dunked it in the fish tank a couple of times...well...as they say, "garbage in, garbage out". Likewise, remember that the resolution of a TV may NOT be comparable to that of the pc monitor you're viewing on. If your videos looked "really good" on that old 27" RCA standard resolution TV which only has a resolution of 320 x 240 a computer monitor...even a CRT...usually has a MUCH higher resolution and you -are- going to see all of the pimples and warts of the equipment that your video was recorded on. Think of it this way...anyone remember vinyl records? Remember when CD's first came out and how awful your old vinyl suddenly sounded because all of a sudden you could hear EVERYTHING in the recording (like the end of "Dark Side of the Moon"? Same thing. If you're copying material from a VCR or an old camcorder, you are NOT going to get Hi Def quality regardless of the capture device! If you still don't understand this then try downloading a thumbnail jpeg off any website and blow it up to a poster sized print. You can always downsize pictures or video but you can't upsize...it just doesn't work. The same applies to cables as well...if you're getting noise or interference with your signal (another complaint I've seen in various reviews), as with ANY video or audio application, CHECK YOUR CABLES! Now in this case, I didn't use the cables that came in the box...I went straight for my studio cables instead. When it comes to audio and video, cables are typically the weakest link in the chain so it pays to invest in quality cables.

I would also like to add a couple of things on the software install. Ok...I haven't read the instruction booklet here but this is what I did right out of the box and I didn't have to "play" with anything at all. It's a USB device...install those drivers first, then plug in the device and give Windows a chance to recognize it (you may need to tell windows to look for the drivers). Yes, I did get the little notices about the Windows signature (seems to happen a lot these days)...as others have said, just hit "continue". In other words, most USB devices typically need the drivers install -BEFORE- you actually plug the device in. And if you're using Vista...well...get a life because it's time to upgrade. Very simply, there is a VERY good reason why so many people complain about Vista...it's like Windows ME in that it's a mistake right out of the box. Go with XP or Windows 7 instead. Once you've installed the drivers and the software, check those settings. Make sure you set your video format for the correct region (that would be NTSC for most of North America...check your local standards if you're not sure)and again I recommend going straight for the DVD setting for the record format. You can always downsize and/or re-compress your video later in editing (then save the original files to a DVD to get those large files off your hard drive...always a good idea to keep backups of the originals). I'm not going to comment on the editing software that came in the box as I use Adobe Premiere and After Effects...no sense playing with "Microsoft Paint" when you already have Photoshop at your finger tips :-)

So to wrap this up, I can highly recommend one of these Diamond VC-500 but with the condition that you plan to dust off your common sense when using it! If you've never really worked with video on a computer before, plan on taking some time and surf that learning curve instead of Yahoo for a while! Understand that things like video codecs and slow equipment can and do cause issues like audio lag (as well as basic ignorance) and remember that your video is ONLY as good as the equipment it was recorded on. Once you've learned the in's and out's of working with video (both figuratively and literally), then hit that one touch button...it actually does a pretty decent job.
USB Video Capture Reviews
Diamond Media VC500 USB Video Capture . The hardware works great. Much better video quality than expected. The software sucks and support in non-existent. I just use other software once the video is captured
USB Video Capture Opinions
I am enjoying it . This works just how I thought it should. I've been able to copy parts of VHS tapes that I wanted to edit as well as entire movies and it was quick and easy to use. I didn't use the software that comes with it because I was afraid it would crash my computer (from other reviews), and I'm still trying to adjust HOW I'd like to save the video on my computer for optimal transfer to DVD (the DVD option squishes the picture and the .avi option seems to be poorer quality), but it works just right for this non-computer-literate person!
diamond vc500 video transfer device . Worked very well to transfer my video tape to digital computer files. The editing software included on disk was difficult to use. I found editing my work with a different program helpful.

Great tool for the money
So-so but there are probably better systems... . I purchased this to play back videos to the computer so that I could then put them on DVD. The problem with this system is that the picture is difficult to select the proper settings for so that you get a good, clean image. I tried various settings and the best picture still had little lines in it so I went back to another, older system that I have used in the past. Maybe it will work better for you, but I'd suggest finding something with better overall performance.

Cons Review
terrible directions . This product came with little or no instructions on how to use. We tried many many times to load, unload and reload the software thinking we missed something. But we could never get it to work. We resorted to YouTube to try to find instructions but that did not work as well. Sent it back.
Lousy . I bought this gadget to convert my old 8mm video cassette tapes to hard-drive. VCD mode is the best it can do, even though the bottom edge of the picture is messed up. Trying to convert it with DVD mode preserves the picture quality but there is a 1" yellow vertical band in the center of the screen. VCD mode is below par resolution, didn't have the time to return it, wished I had.

This high quality adapter will convert any USB male adapters into Micro USB Male adapters. With technology rapidly changing, it is senseless to buy new equipment (computers, phones, etc.) when all you have to do is purchase this adapter. The adapter is small and can be taken anywhere. This review is from : USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor
USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor . Works as advertised.

What people find confusing about adapters are which male/female sides they need for their cable that they want to adapt. Just remember, male goes inside female (or, female is on top of male :).

USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor means:

1) The adapter's USB 2.0 side is female and connects to a male cable (male cables can plug directly into your computer's USB port).

2) The adapter's Micro USB side is male and connects to a female port (digital camera, MP3 player, smart phone, etc.).

3) So, if you have a USB cable that can plug into your computer on both ends, it's a male/male cable and this adapter is for you. One end of the USB cable plugs into your computer, the other end plugs into the adapter, and the adapter plugs into the device.
USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor Reviews
This one IS an OTG adapter . I like this adapter. I bought it for my Archos A70S Internet Tablet. It works well in OTG (USB On The Go) mode, allowing the tablet to work as a USB host. This means you can plug other USB devices to the tablet through it, such as cameras and USB sticks, and the Archos can browse their contents.

One thing to note is that the adapter consists of a single piece with both the male microUSB port (the one that plugs into the Archos) and the female USB A port (the standard USB port your computer has). This means that any mechanical stress on the female connector may be transmitted straight through to the tablet. I've had no issues so far, and I'm not implying this is a problem with this particular adapter, but you do have to be careful using this type of adapter. Ideally, you'll want to plug the adapter to the device you want to connect to your tablet first, and then plug the assembly into the tablet, in order to exert as little physical force as possible on the tablet itself. Otherwise, you should get an adapter with a short cable or "dongle" - but I've seen no such USB OTG adapters here.
Plug and go . Straight forward. I use it on my portable tv to play movies off my jump-drive.
No problem . I bought this for my MP3 player. It came fast and works great.Have no problem with the product and no complaints with the seller.
USB 2.0 A to Micro B Female / Male Adaptor Opinions
Did not work as OTG cable (for USB Hosting on Tablets) . In fairness, the listing does not say OTG cable but is one of the first products shown when you search for one. Unfortunately, this item is not what I was looking for. I will give it three stars because I assume it is functional, I have no way to tell because I have no other reason (or way) to use this adapter. I know it is not my Xoom that has the problem. I was looking forward to using a plug-in keyboard with it(more for play than for usefulness). I only know this because after this item did not work (for my intended purpose), I made my own OTG cable that allowed hosting on the Xoom. The cable I made is ugly as sin, but functional. I would have preferred this adapter for aesthetic reasons, but oh well.
Works fine but is not an OTG adapter . As many others have mentioned, the device I received was not an OTG adapter. Since it worked fine and wasn't advertised as an OTG adapter I still gave it 5 stars, but wanted to let others know who are trying to find an OTG adapter specifically.
Didn't work . Bought this to use with my Motorola Xoom tablet since it supports USB OTG mode. The adapter doesn't work, no USB devices are recognized - I'm guessing it doesn't have the correct pin connection (4,5). Can't rate one star since this isn't explicitly advertised as an OTG adapter, but it shows up on amazon searches with the otg keyword, so just wanted to let other folks know that this will NOT work for connecting your Motorola Xoom to USB devices.
Great little converter . This is perfect for using h.e.n. (USB host mode) on the N900. It's pocketable, light weight, and can be used with memory sticks pretty easily. The only thing to be careful of is to not use it with heavy items. It becomes a leaver quickly if you don't have something supporting it at the level of the phone. (Some puffy sticky tape works well for that.)

Cons Review
One bad out of two . I ordered a couple of these to do some android system integration. I have several android devices all of which support OTG mode when pins 4 and 5 are jointed together. I used adapters like this to make that connection easy and let me plug in standard devices.
I ordered two of these (they come in pairs). One had the pins joined and one did not. This caused a great deal of confusion since I would toss them in my bag and pull them out as needed. Who knows which tests were screwed up by this :( Now I have to start checking them all when I buy them. Quite disappointing.
I eventually cut one of them open (since the B side pins are too small to get to with a meter) and discovered the solder job isn't so good either.
will not work for Motorola Xoom!!! . I ordered this for my Motororola Xoom. I can confirm that this is NOT a usbOTG cable and can NOT be used in host mode.

cheap quality, save your money.

PCs are great for portability. But once the work day is over it's time to get the laptop off your lap, get comfortable on your couch, and let the M200 Media Player bring you a 360° technology experience.

This review is from : Uitstor Uebo M200 HD Wired Media Player
killer media server for regular people . you dont need roku boxee or anything else if youre computer savvy. this box will play just about anything and if you acquire your own media for it then you dont need netflix or ANY other source. if you do not have ethernet near where youll install this box then you MUST get the wireless dongle which works great. I have streamed dvd isos which play exactly like a physical dvd would. also have streamed hd and it looks and plays great. video rss feeds work well to though I will be adding a hard drive to make the playback easier [ forget pausing streamed media from the net ]. for the price this thing is very hard to beat and I am someone who a year ago bought the netgear digital entertainer 9150 for 3 times the price from amazon and netgear has abandoned it [though it still works]. once again, if youre a downloader this is the box for your media. period.

Uitstor Uebo M200 HD Wired Media Player Opinions
Good but not perfect. . This device got some good reviews so I decided to check it out. One of my major reasons for purchasing this Uebo instead of many of the others is how it handles subtitles, since most of the video I watch is foreign. Firstly I have to say that the device's primary function, which is streaming/playing video across the network works beautifully. Video is stunningly good and it plays 1080p content without a hiccup. I have yet to find a format that it cant play. Text based subtitles work very well, even if you have multiple SRT files for different languages it lets you easily switch between them on the fly, as well as changing the font and size. However I've noticed sometimes that a dialogue line wont show up or it will show up late and only for 1 second. It doesn't happen constantly so it's not really a bother for me.

So while it plays video wonderfully, there are some issues. Firstly, I cannot get the bittorrent client to work. It keeps crashing and despite spending over an hour on the phone with Uebo's tech support (they are helpful and patient) there has yet to be a resolution for this matter. He did send me some experimental firmware but and it worked at first, but the same thing kept happening. I would love this feature to work but it's not the end of the world so I'll wait for additional firmware updates for this problem.

The interface isn't completely terrible, but it's not intuitive in the way a device made for the mass-market is. You have to be comfortable with browsing network shares and entering IP addresses, and likewise setting it up on your computer. There also should be an easy way of adding folders on network shares to your favorites list but as of yet there isn't, so for now you're stuck with manually browsing each time. Oh one other thing. It does playlists, but only for content on the internal hard drive. I wish it allowed you to put whatever you wanted into a playlist regardless of where the file resides but I guess not.

I tried the play-on free trail. There's a tremendous amount of content available on it, and once setting up the server on your PC browsing it on the Uebo isn't what you'd call pretty but it's not that difficult to find what you're looking for. The quality however is crap. Very pixellated and compressed, looks like 240p at best, which when blown up to 720p on a 32" screen looks horrible. I'm guessing this is a limitation on my computer's ability to transcode, but I think having built in apps like Boxee and Roku would be much better.

This is a geeks toy, and if you don't mind "getting your hands dirty" so to speak, it will serve you well. It seems built well enough, and their support department seems eager to improve things.

update 2/17/10:
2 firmware updates later and Bittorrent still doesn't work. There also seems to be very little discussion about this box on internet forums, or at least as far as I can tell with google. I'd like to know if I'm the only one with this problem. Also now supports DVD playback, which works awesome. Will play directly from an ISO or a USB DVD drive and has full menu support.
Like this very much . I brought it last week and have been watching my HD contents of all different formats (AVI, RMVB, RM, MP4, MPEG, etc) from my hard drives to the HD display everyday.

The quality of Video (motion and static)is very good and clear, plus the sound effect via the connection to my Hi-Fi is awesome!

Well it is the right bridge to link our digit records to HD display that I have been looking for a long time.

In all I give it a 5 star!
Works like a charm . got this media player yesterday and has been playing with it. It plays all media format i threw at it. The UI is great, easy to navigate, simple. Video quality is excellent. BT is very useful. Overall love it. The only downsize is user manual is kinda hard to use.
M200 HD Media Player

Cons Review
Bad surprise . Won't write about "pros", it is clear. Huge "cons":
1. Inability to switch audio track during playback (MKV, DVD, divx etc). You can do it, but you need to restart the movie. Very strange design decision here.
2. First DTS track hangs your system in DTS mode. Meaning, you won't be able to watch anything at all after watching video with DTS track until you hard reboot your system
3. "clever" advertising: On the box it says: Netfilx, YouTube and more. (then in small letters (via PlayOn, running on your computer as server). What that means, is the following: this device DOES NOT HAVE a native Netflix client. Now let's compare it with the very first line of the product description, which declares: "BREAK FREE FROM YOUR PC!". Hmmmmmm.
4. Two hangs on MKVs over 10GB in size.

I shipped it back and I had to pay for it. No $$$ back yet. (I bought two of them as gifts) Will see what's going to happened next
M200 UEBO player does NOT support bit torrent . M200 can play video files both on the network and from a hard drive which of course is NOT included and you have to buy one and install later. However, despite of what the advertisement claims it does NOT support BT downloads. In all firmware releases posted on their support site, and I did try them all, there seems to be a persistent bug which causes the BT process to die after a few minutes, sometimes a few hours.

As a set top player it is quite all right and works as advertised, but do not expect to retire your PC it torrent software any time soon.
HIDDEN CHARGES EXTRA SOFTWARE REQUIRED . This product specifically indicates that it will stream Netflix, HULU and other video sources from the internet. It does not specify that you are required to spend either a $40 yearly subscription fee or a one time $79.99 fee for [...] server software to do this. In this time and age it is expected that if your product does not do something out of the box or without extra charges to the customer you should make it perfectly clear such as Harddrive not included, Batteries not included. I will be calling Amazon to see what options i have to return this product immediately.
