Internet On/Off Switch . I wanted a quick/convenient way to turn on and off the internet connection to my computer without the hassle turning off my router or physically disconnecting the cable. This switch works great for just that purpose! I have the "A" connection connected to my computer and the "B" connection connected to nothing. Click switch to A to turn on the internet connection and to B to turn it off; viola!, an internet on/off switch. The switch I received is more of a dull lime green color (vs the off-white/beige color in the ad). The unit's construction is solid and it works great.

Good product at a good price. . I'm using the cat 5 switch to switch my fax between my normal busines line and a magic jack line. I was able to cancel my business long distance and replace it with the magic jack usb computer connection. Most of the time I leave the switch connected to the local sevice to get incoming faxes. If I need to send a long distance fax a simple turn of the switch and I have long distance. Works well and saves me at least 10.00 per month with no loss of capability.

Just What I Needed . I bought a Tivo around the Holidays and it needs to connect to the Internet once a day to download the guide information. The guy at Best Buy said that I needed a router to connect both the Tivo and the computer to the same Ethernet line as I have DSL and only one outlet on the modem. I tried two different routers and even had a neighbor come over who is quite the computer expert and we could not get either of them to work.
My initial response was to just disconnect the Ethernet wire from the computer once a day and drag it over to the Tivo. This worked but soon became an unpleasant routine. So, I thought why not get a simple switch so that both the computer and Tivo are hooked up and I can send the signal to the device that needs it. This works great. I just switch the signal over to the Tivo when it needs to download and leave it on the computer the rest of the time. Of course this would not work for devices that both need to be connected all of the time or if two devices needed to "talk" to each other. It is much less expensive than a router also!

Pure Win . This little box works perfectly. It has solid construction and is very well built. No more messing with ethernet cables! Highly recommended.
Simple Manual Switch: No More No Less . I got this primarily because the dsl modem I use only has one connection (and I don't want to upgrade to another one or use wifi), so when ever I wanted to game on a console, I would have to unhook the network cable from the back of the computer, then connect it to the console, then go back and swap the cable when I was done. Since I like to play games a lot this got annoying pretty quickly, so I chose to get this as a simple desktop/tabletop toggle switch that would make things easier. As long as you know what it does (switches connections between 2 devices, NOT shares the connection simultaneously) then you get exactly what you pay for. Works perfectly for what I wanted.Construction: Seems well built. The casing is made out of metal, not cheap plastic like you would expect out of something at this price point. The switch handle is plastic, but seems sturdy enough. As another reviewer mentioned the color of what you get seems to vary from the picture that is displayed. What the picture shows is an off-white/beige color, like what you would expect to see on really old computers but what I got was a greenish colored case (greenish like old pea-soup). I can't really complain about that though since it's not like I liked the beige colored one in the picture to begin with, and I had planned to repaint it all along so that it would better match my desktop electronic setup. But it would have been nice if they had gone a little darker with the shade of green they used when it was manufactured, then it could have actually looked kind of cool and had a military feel to it, which would have lent itself aesthetically to the metal construction of the case.Performance: Does what it's supposed to with no issues that I've noticed. I can only imagine the people who said it didn't work got defective units.Overall: I'm happy with it. Will be happier when I paint it a nicer color.
Two Way (A/B) RJ45 Network Switch Box . Solid built metal case. Simple. Nothing fancy. Switches an RJ45 (CAT 5 network cable connector) between two other RJ45 connectors. Does what it is supposed to do.
Does the job . It's not sexy but it does exactly what it says it does. And, it doesn't cost as much as an electronic switch or need power. No sense in building a bridge to step across a creek.
Check ports before ordering . Ordered this to have an ethernet, CAT5, RJ45 cable to share between two computers. When the package arrived, the ports on the back of the device were RJ11, a standard phone line jack. Product looked promising and was super sturdy and seemed to have been built great. Returned the product as it wasn't the product listed on the website. Just double check the ports you are going to be needing it for.
Makes my job easier... . I'm using this to cut off internet service to several computers to discourage counter productivity at the office. Can be set up by the not so technologically advanced like myself. Works and as easy as flipping a switch. Recommended!
Cons Review
didn't work for me . thanks to great success stories I read on reviews here, i bought this hoping to share a single phone line between my computer and a standalone fax machine. I need the line plugged to the computer most of the time, but will need to plug/unplug this line to attach it to the fax for the rare occasions that I do fax. Unfortunately, this did not work at all. I followed instructions to a T, and regardless of whether the switch points to A or B, only the fax worked, not the computer. I experimented and plugged one end to a regular phone and the other to the fax, and the same thing happened. Only the fax worked. Defective unit maybe? I mean, this thing does look archaic. But regardless of appearance, I would have been thrilled if this actually worked. But sorry, no thrills....
At this price, it was not worth my time to return nor ask questions. Moving on to my next project already...hmpft.
