MacBook Pro = Pure Joy!!! . I'm writing this on a 15" mbpro running Lion with two dell 24" monitors hooked up via the Cirago HDX3DV01. It took me all of 2 minutes to get everything working. I also hooked up my 13" and had no problems, either. (Before you start thinking I'm some nutty mac nut, the 15" is my work machine that I'll have to return once they realize I'm incompetent... )

I have them all arranged in a T shape. The mbpro on the bottom and the two dells across the top. I selected 3840x1200 for the top "monitor" (as you have probably read in other reviews, it treats the two or three monitors plugged into the unit as one ginormous monitor) and booyah - I have a setup just like the guys at work using Windows!

I'm not a big video guy, so I can't speak to those issues, but I did quickly bring up youtube and DVD and they both looked fine on each dell. I'm a web developer and I've been spoiled by working in a windows environment for years with multiple monitors. With the mbpro, the most I could do was one external monitor. I was offered a choice of a mac or windows environment at my new gig, so I went with mac because that's the kind of guy I am. I figured I'd settle with only two monitors.

After reading reviews and specs online of all the various solutions to getting a Macbook Pro laptop running multiple screens, I finally settled on the Cirago... mainly because that's what they had at Fry's today. I got it for 140 bucks. The price runs at about that anywhere you look.

I have a really, really, really, really difficult time parting with money, even if it's not mine, so this purchase was not an easy one. I didn't want to deal with returns and the nightmare of pulling an all-nighter getting stuff set-up. Mainly, the disappointment of not having something work. I'm someone who trusts people and when a gadget sucks, it disturbs my worldview.. Who wants that? Also, I'm lazy. I'd never get around to returning the unit. SO.... none of these things occurred. I just plugged it in and it's beeyootiful!

I'll be using it at work tomorrow and if there are any horror stories, I"ll be sure to report back. Believe me.

If all goes well and I'm able to add that final, fifth star, I shall!

Good luck hooking it up . Be warned that the icon for Mini Displayport and Mini DVI looks the same. (box with a line on each side) however, apparently there is no way to adapt the two. This box comes with a display port and an adapter to go down to a mini displayport. It seems new mac computers use the mini displayport but I can't find any PC's that have one. I've been searching for the past hour trying to find ANY sort of adapter to hook up either of these displayport plugs. I'm wanting to hook into either a DVI or Mini DVI but the proper adapter is not jumping out at me.

All I'm saying is...make sure you can hook this thing up before you buy it. Do an image search so you can see what a Displayport, Mini Displayport, DVI and Mini DVI look like and understand that this comes with Displayport and Mini Displayport.

After some research I've learned that Mini Displayport on MAC is now called Thunderbolt(?) and there are some backwards compatibility issues to consider. You might want to research this yourself. We hooked this splitter up to a Mac AirBook and it worked well. Once we figured out the proper resolution settings it did what we wanted. A new PC laptop we recently purchased also had this hookup but I've not used this splitter on a PC.

Cons Review

Not Good for 3 seprate full screens . Screen can't take 3 individual full screen images. I wanted to have three different programs at full screen I now have to run a program to help to do that.

NOT FOR MAC . I purchased this item with visions of triple 23" HD monitors (Samsung P2350's). Everything I read on this (that I was able to find) was generally positive reviews, however be advised, there is no way to have a macbook pro "see" all 3 screens. What it will do, is see 2 screens. It treats the 1st monitor as an indipendant montor that allows you to change the resolution, etc, however the 2nd and 3rd montior it treats as 1 "big" monitor and does not allow you to seperate the images across 3 independant screens. Basically you get 1 monitor running 1920 x 1080 and then the remaining 2 monitors you have to either mirror them or it streacthes the remaining 2 into 1 big stretched version with crappy resolution. I have not found a fix or work around for this and even the manuactrers web site and tech support offer no resolution.

So while I am sure that if you are running multiple video cards or even maybe XP, Vista or Windos 7, for MAC OSX this is NOT a good solution.

It worked in our XP without a problem . We had a ~4 year old adapter go out on an old XP in our office. I did not want to invest much, but needed to get it connected again.This adapter installed and worked fine on the first try. I didn't read their instruction guide, so I can't comment on that. If you are experienced, you won't need it. I like that this adapter did not have an inflated sense of self importance. It just works in the background and doesn't bother me with popups etc.I picked pink to help ID the adapter. All others we have are black.

Works Great with Axim51 . works great with my Axim51. Installed easily. I have been looking for something that was compatible. I was skeptical at first in trying this. I had tried a different type of wireless card and it hadn't worked at all. This one works great, so far no problems.

Spectec SDIO WiFi card... . Pretty good in that it is small and therefore won't get snapped off (unlike the SANDisk card or similar).
Shame it doesn't do LEAP authentication. It only does PEAP or SmartCard authentication. Still, it might come in future releases.
It was delivered very quickly from Taiwan (!?@#~?!), but it came when it said it would, so I'm happy :)

Nice card . The card has a nice low profile when inserted. The driver software installed fine. I'm using it on an HP iPaq 6515. I needed third part software (Hitchhiker) to get my applications to recognize the card though. That was a little frustrating. I tried a lot of things before looking around for other software. Once I got that figured out the card got good reception from various wireless networks that I use regularly. I'm happy with it. The support and information available on the card is pretty much non-existent. I'm thankful that "Hitchhiker" solved all my problems. GOOD hardware, LOUSY software & support. I'll give it a 3 out of 5.

works with hp ipaq 2200 . This product works great with a HP IPAQ 2215 pocket pc running windows mobile 2003. Battery last less time tho. But other wise the coverage is great and the setup is easy. The wireless utility inculded is also easy to use.

Check your PPC or Palm for compatabillity . This is one of the best things that I have gotten for my ppc, but I would warn everyone to check the manufacturers website [...] for compatability. I have a toshiba ppc that I bought this for and it would not work no matter what I did, and I put on the .net famework and every wifi utillity that I could find. I did however have a HP IPAQ that I was given and it works with that like a charm. You can adjust everything and get diagnostic readouts on your wifi transmitions. Perfect, small, and strong but only if it works.

Do not work on Palm OS . I have a tungsten T5 and bought this wifi card instead of the original Palm Wifi Card to have wireless Internet access from Hotspots. Unfortunately this Lan Card has been not recognized by the Palm OS. There is even no driver for this operational system at the manufacter 's home page. So if you intend to buy a lan card for your palm I suggest to check the compatibility of your Operational System before you make the mistake I've done. Regards...

Is NOT compatible with Palm . Amazon says it is, Spectec say's it's not. 'nuff said. The disc comes with PC Only drivers for the Windows Mobile versions mentioned, but nothing for Palm.

No tech support . was not able to get it working on a Garmin Que M5 and Spectec does not have US support. So not to happy:(

Looking Good with one caveat . Having read many reviews that indicated there would not be any PCI to USB 3.0 cards because a regular PCI card (as opposed to PCI Express) did not have enough power, I had just about given up when I came across this card.

The caveat? They don't mention that in addition to your empty PCI card slot you must also have an available LP4 connector. (LP4 connectors are white plugs that you would normally use to plug in an ATA Hard Drive or a CD or DVD player.) Fortunately, I had one not being used by anything else.

My 'test' was simple. Using a Sandisk, 30MB/second, 16 GB Compact Flash card in a USB 2.0 Sandisk Card Reader, I transferred a 3.91GB video file to a "MyBook, 3.0 external hard drive - plugged into a USB 2.0 plug. (All USB 2.) It took 31 minutes.

Then, I added this PCI to USB 3.0 card, and transferred the same file from the same Sandisk Compact Flash card, but this time, I plugged a Delkin USB 3.0 card reader and the MyBook 3.0 into the StarTech's two USB 3.0 ports. It took 2 minutes, 23 seconds.

Startech is very upfront that this card adapter will not surpass 1.3 GB per second, and will never reach the full potential of USB 3.0, (up to 5 BG per second) but considering this works at all on a motherboard as old as mine, I'm thrilled.

I've just seen another review here where the card didn't last two days. I'll be holding onto my receipt.

USB V3.0 for older machines . Used this card in some older machines (that don't have PCIe slots) and it worked perfectly. I'm sure I can't achieve full USB 3.0 speed through a PCI slot, but it is enough faster than USB 2.0 card it replaced to make it worthwhile.

USB 3.0 PCI card . Works fine, easy to install, good for older machines that do not have PCI Express slots. Much faster than USB 2.0.

This is PCI-X **NOT** PCI or PCI-Express . Just to note that this is NOT a PCI or PCI-Express card. It is a PCI-X which is a standard typically found in older server type boards.

Cons Review

Goes offline . This shows up as a 4-port, 5000M XHCI USB Controller - NEC Corporation uPD720200 USB 3.0 Host Controller (rev 03).
There are 2 ports on the back, and a power plug inside. The connector is PCI 32-bit.

For about 12 hours, this worked. Using rsync from a 5-spindle array onto a USB3 MyBook 3TB (60-105MB/sec) I was able to get about 35MB/sec. The readings are low by 30% due to rsync's other stuff it's doing. So, it's a little slower than I'd expected, but still definitely exceeding USB2 + overhead performance.

Unfortunately, today, it hung, caused a kernel panic, and on boot, it came up visible but dead:

I was able to replug the disk into my integrated EHCI (USB2) port, and verify it works fine, if slower.

Will not work with Dell 630I . I tried evey means to get this to work with my Dell 630I. Kept getting a code 10. I even tried to remove all other USB items but the card would not load into windows. I updated the system bios, the card firmware, drivers and nothing helped.

not compatable? . I know computers. Right slot, right card right power - didn't work. Returned and got a new one. Still no luck. Updated bios, no luck, called Startech and discussed options. Final result, "it must not be compatable with your motherboard." That's all they could offer. Good luck.

Holy F Word!! . I was so excited when this came in. Before I had a small netgear wireless usb adaptor. I stumbled upon this unit almost by accident and I didnt even know you could even upgrade these things. But wow what a difference! I get 100% connection to my home network (never had 100 before) and my pages load at an incredible speed! Had to write a review because of well this works. Install the driver and youre up and running. No AC plug needed and It has picked up 11 other networks, one of which is at least 5 houses down. This thing is sick. I wish i had this in college i would have brought it to the library even if i looked like an idot!!

A real help if your wireless network antenna has problems in its present location . This is a tough, thin (~3.5 mm) all white extension cable to move your router or PCI card SMA thread ['g' or 'a'] wireless antenna up to 2.13m (6 foot) away from your PC or router. Being white it is very unobtrusive. I use it with the tall chubby DWL 50AT SMA antenna (Hawking etc. make similar) that is a direct replacement for the tiddly SMA one that comes with D-Link, and other, routers and PCI cards. This cable has a standard SMA (one male/one female) fitting, so it easily fits in between the antenna socket and antenna. All fittings are gold plated.

Using a simple signal strength meter I found the strongest nearby signal location to the PC. To do this you need something like the Kensington 'WIFI Finder Plus' that has a 6 LED strength meter. Using this Hawking antenna extension cable I have now put the wireless antenna 4ft above the PC monitor where the signal is very strong at 4 LEDs (dropping to 2 LEDs occasionally) compared to zero to 1 LEDS at the back of the PC. I now have a 54 Mbps (full strength/fastest speed) wireless network all the time with few drop-outs. So if your wireless network isn't running at full speed or frequently drops out, try some high gain antennas, a WIFI strength meter and one or two of these Hawking extension cables. It's a lot cheaper and easier than re-investing in new MIMO or Pre-N hardware.

I bought my Hawking extension lead from an Amazon reseller and it arrived promptly. D-link make a similar SMA extension lead to this and it is available on Amazon, but was a bit more expensive. This one worked very well for me though, is well made, and was very good buy as it was going cheap.

Nobody else makes 'em . as far as I know, this is the only such antenna extension cable for indoors. Works great if your wireless card/antenna is in back of the PC, down on the floor or in one of those lousy enclosed desk compartments -- you can use this to move the antenna up to top of desk where it has a chance of getting signal.

very useful . you need it if you want to get the antina away from your desktop computer. but you need at least two of them!

Might make things worse... . I replaced the omni-directional antenna that came with my ActionTec (FiOS) router with a 9dBi SMA OMNI-Directional High-Gain Screw-On Swivel Antenna for Linksys .... Using the unscientific measure of "number of bars" as measured by my iPhone, every reading in my house either stayed the same or improved by one. Since there are only three bars total that is, in my mind, a big improvement.

I thought I could further improve things by moving the antenna from the back of the router which is on the floor behind a TV to the top of the TV. I did that with this cable and some duct tape (to hold the base of the antenna to the upper back of the TV). In that case things went back to the level of the original antenna. Apparently whatever benefit there was from moving the antenna to what I thought was a better location was more than offset by the loss introduced from the additional wire and connector.

Bottom line: Adding this cable will introduce some signal loss. Signal strength will be improved only if the loss of loss gained by moving your antenna more than offsets the loss added by the cable.

Excellent Extension . I was using a USB cable as an extension, but this cable provides a much better signal. I needed the extension to use the hotels wi-fi across the street.

Little cable is a lot of help . The cable is what you are looking for, if you are looking for the small connector type. They either don't have names for small or large connector types for antenna, or else they are not telling us. So I took it on faith from the picture. Lo and behold it was correct. So just be sure you need the small connector and not the slightly larger one, and you should be ok. Hey, maybe that is what SMA stands for in RJ-SMA?!

Very nice if you are forced to keep your router in an odd spot . The MI424WR-GEN2 provided with my Verizon FIOS account has weird wall-mounting slots in the back, which force you (that is, if you want to use them) to install the device with the antenna upside down. The signal propagation is terrible, worse with the metal studs in my condo.With this cable I was able to quickly relocate the antenna to a better location. Unscrew the antenna, screw-in the cable and the antenna and done. Reception within the condo is much better, there are no more dead spots, and places that already had coverage now show a full signal instead of a lousy bar or two. There's no downside. I definitely recommend this to anyone that has a compatible router sitting in a less than optimal spot.

Excellent for moving the antenna . If you have a router with a wireless setup that uses an screw on antenna, this product will move the antenna so you can get better reception. Caution, many router have internal antennas and can not use this product

No issues . We have had no issues with this adapter. It works great; got us back up and running in no time. Router on one end of house, the adapter on other, works great. Not any more fickle than any other add-on adapter, probably less than others we've had. For the price, I don't think you can beat it!

Works! . I got this little bad boy on sale and was shipped to me 2 days faster then they said it would be. Pluged it in, added the data to my Win XP computer and had 100% connection in less then 30 seconds! Connection stays between 50 and 75% with my G wifi router at 2 rooms away and 30% on the other side of the house, after that though you basicly loose the connection rate, but for in a 2-3 bedroom home, this does wonders!

Not so simple to install and get up and running . I have an older computer with Windows ME. It is a spare computer and I wanted to connect to the internet wirelessly.

It was difficult to find a USB that would be compatible, but the Sabrent said it was compatible per the product description.

The problem I had was that if I did not have a more computer literate person with me, I would not have been able to install it as per the directions.

No need to bore you with the details, but we were finally able to get it up and running an hour later and to date it has been working like a charm. No problems.

In the end I am pleased with the product.

Works just fine!! . The replaced a US Robotics product on a desktop computer in a home wireless network. It installed to the USB port and quickly connected to the network. Would recommend for a home wireless network.

works great even with apple 10.4.11 . the only trouble was finding the right driver to install. after that i get strong internet all over the house. so it works fine.

Works fine good deal . No problems with Vista Ultimate. I get about 16Mbps from 20 feet away from the base station. Overall, great value

Cons Review

Not for Windows 98 as advertised . The Amazon ad led me to believe that this adaptor would work with Windows 98 SE, but when I received the product, the packaging said that it was for Windows 2000 and above. So I returned the adaptor and received a prompt refund. I have a Windows XP machine, but I wanted to try a wireless network with my older machine. I didn't even open the package once I saw it was not for Windows 98 SE.

Fraudulant description! . Bought this product because it says it's compatible with Windows ME (don't ask, neighbor didn't want to upgrade).

Product not compatible with Windows ME.
Manufacturer website is a joke.
Distributor isn't fixing the product description.

Cheap works not very good. . This adaptor works, but it has extremely poor signal strength and a very slow data rate. It sits next to a laptop, and the laptop has a good, fast connection, but this has a poor connection and is extremely slow. It was a good way to get a cheap wireless connection, but now that I want to use my computer as a file server I have to buy another wireless adaptor.

Poor product - poor documentation . This is not a very good product. I never got it to work on my Mac, although drivers for Mac OS X 10.4 were supplied. The documentation was incomplete, and written in broken English. I subsequently bought a NetGear USB Wireless adapter and it works flawlessly, with no installation issues. I recommend NetGear for Mac OS X instead.
