This review is from : HiRO 54Mbps Wireless-G PCI Adapter with 2dBi Omni Direction Antenna (H50069)
Easy as Pie (Tricky for Win7) . Works as it is supposed to. Drivers were a little difficult to find as the included CD does not include Windows 7 drivers on it. Quick search on Google found it though. Great product, pushes some nice speeds through and gets excellent range.
Great buy. . Easy install. My PC was up and running in about 10-15 mts. No hassles. The only way this can get better is if it was priced under $10.00
HiRO 54Mbps Wireless-G PCI Adapter with 2dBi Omni Direction Antenna (H50069) Reviews
works great!!! good price easy installation . I have it installed on my small form factor Compaq EVO D510 desktop. My wireless router is a netgear in another room. The pc is inside my TV cabinet and the reception is "excellent". I am not using the extra extension antenna provided, only the fixed one.
HiRO 54Mbps Wireless-G PCI Adapter with 2dBi Omni Direction Antenna (H50069) Opinions
Great Bargain . Replaced the fax/modem card in a gateway fx4710 with this unit and it works flawlessly. Windows Vista premium found the appropriate drivers without me having to install anything or even open the cd.
Great hardware but software klunky . I am using this in a custom arcade cabinet I built my son. With the PC at near floor level behind thick MDF, situated in a basement room where the access point is upstairs in a kitchen cabinet at ceiling level, I had concerns about getting a usable signal.

The remote antenna on this unit was just what I needed. I wish the cable were about 1 foot longer for my use, but it's plenty long enough for your typical desktop application. Pulls the signal in great. I have about 80% signal strength.

The software though, is a hassle. Once configured it is solid, but it didn't always operate as expected during configuration. If you bear that in mind and can get past the frustration, the rest of the product is great.

Cons Review
Failed in Dell Inspirion running VISTA . The installation CD installed the driver without a problem. Physical installation of the card was not a problem and the Windows new HW wizard associated the card with the driver. The card's utility installed and came right up. Creating a profile for the wireless network and router was no problem.

But, even though the card found the router and connected it reported limited connectivity. Using the Hiro utility it reported the card had an internally configured IP address and a default gateway IP address of 0.0.0.0. In short, the card failed to get it's configuration information from the router via DHCP. This problem was unique to the Hiro card (the two laptops we were using while sitting right in front of the Hiro machine worked fine with the router, as did the 2 TVs, 2 DVDs, and 2 Satellite boxes, which all had internet connections to the router configured via the router's DHCP service.

The Hiro utility does not provide an option for manually configuring the IP address, so that workaround was not available. Configuring the IP addresses manually for the card via Vista TCP4 properties resulted in blue screening.

I attempted to find an updated driver as the one on the CD is circa 2006. I found them and down loaded, but Vista did not recognize them.

So, after about 6 hours invested I tired of fighting the card and Vista and I packed it in and got a RMA this morning.
Hiro Card did not fit Desk Top Card Slot . The Hiro H50069 - Network adapter - PCI - 802.11b, 802.11g did not fit in the available card slot of our new HP Pavilion desktop model P6210F (Windows 7) which we bought in November of 2009.
I bought the Hiro H50069 based on very good reviews but was very surprised, that the card did not fit into the card slot. The pin arrangement and physical length of the PC board and the card slot were very different.
I thought these things were standardized by now. Maybe the standard had been changed?
I got a full refund from Amazon without any problem after I sent back the item.
I bought a D-Link DWA-131 USB Adapter and after getting the driver for Windows 7, the communication was established very quickly.

MAT972 is similar to the MAT976

This review is from : Philips MAT976A1 WebTV Plus/MSN TV Receiver
You gotta get one!! . There are various reasons why I love my webtv. First of all...so much easier than a computer and does basically all the same things. You can email, send and receive photos and voice mail recordings, print, surf the net, build web pages. You also do not EVER have to worry about viruses or upgrading. Webtv upgrades automatically when they have something new. Our latest is instant messaging which is great!!
Philips MAT976A1 WebTV Plus/MSN TV Receiver Reviews
Send photos and voice recordings to your famil and friends . I have both the phillips and the sony models. My girlfriend and I send photos and recordings all over the world. We like the sony a little more because it is faster. But we reccommend both. You are going to spend a little more for the sony because of the larger memory and speed. I tried to email and download photos on a computer and it takes 4 times as long just to figure out how to do it. With webtv I'm allready done.
Philips MAT976A1 WebTV Plus/MSN TV Receiver Opinions
Good! I Just Wish That Lightening Hadn't Zapped Mine! . I had The Philips Magnavox Web TV Plus Internet receiver, I got it as a Christmas gift in 1999 or 2000 and I loved it. Before that I had an old computer that was on it's last legs so when a friend who has Web TV told me about it and that it was cheaper then buying a new computer I made plans on buying one for myself so I was very happy when I got one as a Christmas gift. I loved so many things about The Web TV Plus, one thing was putting the html sigs in my email but I think what I really loved the most was being able to watch TV while I was online and I even had it set up where I could watch a DVD or video while I was reading or composing email or reading or writing reviews on Amazon, etc, and even though I'm not a person who watches TV all day long I really loved getting my weeks worth of TV Listings and setting reminders of movies and TV shows I wanted to see so I could set my VCR timer and tape them or watch them while online but Unfortunately my Web TV Plus receiver broke after a thunder and lightening storm struck the phone lines and zapped the modem and for some theyare not making plus receivers anymore so I had to get a classic Unit.
Great deal for the money . This unit replaced my Dad's old one which was hit by lightning. We searched Amazon for a new unit and found this one. The price was within my Dad's budget. Delivery was quick. The unit arrived one day before the earliest date displayed for delivery. It came with all the items listed in the description. Set up was easy. This is a very nice unit.
WebTV Hardware . Dealing with this vendor was great. We had a small problem, but the vendor had his phone number included in the product description, so it was resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. He also provided email documentation on the progress of the shipment which provided assurance that the product was on the way.
Great Purchasing Experience . Pruchased webtv unit as a back-up. Buying thru Don (webtv guy) and Marti is a good purchasing expeience. Prompt delivery and good feed back. Genuine concern that I was satisfied with my purchase. Will surely make future purchase thru this seller.
I need my WebTV . My WebTV died after 15 years, and I needed a replacement. Don provided a new unused unit for what they cost when they were available new. It worked perfectly, included everything, and I am back in business. I use WebTV a lot as it is better for some things like e-mail. No viruses. It is slow but I'm not in a hurry. I also have a PC but I'm lost without my WebTV.
Like-New purchase adventure . 1st - Like-New <ha> refurbished model with a soft modem didn't work on my phone line. Spent 2 hours with webtv tech trying different codes w/o any luck. He suggested a different house. Tried b-n-law's house. On phone with webtv tech 3 hours trying lots of different codes. Finally removed former owner's (seller) phone info and log on data installed on unit. Webtv tech removed it from his location and added mine. Another 30 minutes of different codes and it started working.

It works, it works!!! At least the main unit. Have to aim wireless keyboard level with unit. Web eye uncooperative! Even my old web eye doesn't work with this unit.

Classic webtv users are in for it. MSNTV doesn't have any manufacturers building new WEBTV units. Users have to rely on used equipment which may or may not be up to standard. Buyer beware!
Our WebTV receiver . This is our third receiver in ten years and is by far the best. The keyboard and receiver work so much better than our last one.
My first computer was a Webtv as a Birthday Gift I Loved It! . The original Webtv by Phillip's was a Birthday gift from my cousin Denise, in 2003. I went to visit her over the Christmas holidays, in the, lower Sierra's, and at that time it was her Birthday too. She absolutely adores her Webtv, though she got a computer as a Christmas gift from her brother & his family, the following year. She so adores her Webtv! She won't give it up for anything in world, just about! She rarely even bothers to use her nice 10.1 OS computer at all! Well, only if absolutely nescessary anyway.
I think the main reason why, is that she can kick back on her living room sofa, with her Webtv keyboard in hand, turn on her Brand New Plasma Big Screen TV and do emails and play games, like scrabble! Your monitor for a Webtv is your television set, so her's is huge! She say's she can't stand to sit at a desk in front of a monitor, she did for work once and hated it. And yes, her sofa is more comfy, with big bay windows and a beautiful view of her green, green grass of home and the Ocean of Sugar Pinetrees!
I learned how to use the Webtv when I was visiting with her, so she decided to get me one for my birthday. She tutored me all the way thru, which I am also thoroughly grateful to her for. She said I was such a fast learner that it amazed her! Yea, I guess I am gifted that way.
The following year I progressed to a Macintosh computer, yet another gift, from my dad. I then had to decide whether or not I wanted to stick with the dial-up MSN service, or go all of the way and get high speed DSL, so I went with DSL. But I had to give up using the Webtv, unfortunately!
The Webtv sat in my closest for nearly 3 years, I had upgraded first to a Macintosh 9.2 OS, then a few months later to a brand new Macintosh, the G5 OS X 10.9.
A friend's son needed a computer, who didn't have the opportunity to buy one, so I gave him my Webtv since I wasn't using it anymore, for a Christmas gift. As they say, "What Goes Around Comes Around"! So I yes, did "Do Onto Others, As You Wish for Them to Do Onto You", I thought!. Unfortunately just this year, Christmas 2006, my cousin Denise asked me if I still had it, and could she have it back? Well, no I wrote and said to her, I gave it away to a friend's kid in need! She made me feel sooo guilty about this, that I couldn't sleep all night long hardly! Thats why I am writing this reveiw too, she still has hers of course, she wanted mine back for a back-up, she said. I am truly grateful to my cousin for giving me the Webtv gift to begin with, and yes I adored it too, but we all must progress at some point if we are able to and I was.
The Webtv was very limited as to certain websites that you're able to go to, the browser is very small and limited. I could not go to even my own website and many others. My bank discontinued the use of the Webtv too, probably for security reasons.
The Webtv is a great, wonderful machine though, especially if you just want to kick back on your sofa, bed, anywhere, type/write emails, design signature pages, go to certain websites, have 6 different email accounts, and watch TV at the same time. I did like it alot! If it weren't for the dial-up I would have kept it, and used the computer for other things, and websites.
I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THE WEBTV, ESPECIALLY FOR BEGINNERS IN THIS GREAT VAST WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY! MSN does offer a deal for both a computer & Webtv, but then again it is dial-up, meaning...Very Slow!
P.S. I Hope my cousin has forgiven me, for giving it away, to yet another person willing to learn and as appreciative as I was and still am, Cuzzy Denise! I LOVE YOU! XXXCQQL

Works awesome . This little dongle connected easily and quickly when we installed it. Installation was maybe 2 minutes and it connected. This took us from the 90's into the 2000's!Everything was wireless except for my wife's desktop. Because the desktop was wired, the printer was wired to the desktop and none of the wireless devices could print. By going wireless with the desktop, everyone can now print in the house!Pros:

Great Wireless Adapter . This is a really good wireless adapter. The installation is extremely simple. The adapter functions exceptionally well with a good router. Connection to a PC on another floor in another room almost 80 feet away is very good. This wireless adapter is highly satisfactory without any problems. Highly recommended.
Netgear Adapter . I got this a while back and it's still working great, no problems at all. I would recommend this product.

Cons Review
Disapointed . This product was suppose to work with my system but did not.

It didn't come with any support for the company, so I left with a useless piece.

need patience for the installation of driver . I have a dell desktop , windows XP. I pick this one based on the low price.

The installation is not a very sweet ride, it took me several time to install and uninstall the driver, restart the pc again and again, I almost gave up, until finally, wireless works.

I recommend option of "Wireless zero configuration" during driver installation,
it may save you some headache later.

one sweet point is it provides driver for Linux too.

Netgear FA411 16-Bit PCMCIA Network Card (10/100 Mbps)

This review is from : Netgear FA411 16-Bit PCMCIA Network Card (10/100 Mbps)
Great card! . This is indeed a very reliable PC card, which works in either 16 or 32 bit PCMCIA or cardbus slot. It is truly an integrated hot-swap to plug in even with your laptop on, and without the older and fragile dongle. Personally I cannot tell the difference in performance between the 16 bit (FA411) and 32 bit (FA511) cards (besides the price). If you buy a 32 bit card however, make sure you have a cardbus slot; otherwise it will not work in a 16 bit PCMCIA slot (found on older laptops). Many newer laptops today come with a built-in ethernet NIC. If your laptop doesn't have one however, you are better off (and cheaper) to just get a 16 bit PC card, and I would definitely recommend this card.
Netgear FA411 16-Bit PCMCIA Network Card (10/100 Mbps) Reviews
Good product . After my old Xyrcom card's external jack broke down, I wanted to try an integrated Ethernet RJ-45 network card. Netgear's FA411 looked like an affordable option, plus Netgear has a good reputation in the industry. Having Windows XP Pro installed on my laptop, another factor considered for purchasing this card was the XP compatibility stated in the product package.Installation is simple, the card is hot pluggable allowing for installation while logged on to the OS. The XP driver is digitally signed and worked flawlessly. I found out that an updated driver was already available in Netgear's home page.Drivers are also included for DOS, Novell, and older versions of Windows. The card has two LED indicators, one for the 100 Mbps network and the other for the connectivity status.Since this is an integrated card, there is no need for an external connector that can get lost or bent/cracked. One note of caution though, although the card actually occupies one Type-II PCMCIA slot, the integrated connector covers two. If you need the additional slot, then I'd recommend a card with an external RJ-45 connector. Also, the integrated jack protrudes about an inch beyond the slot, so you will also need to take this into consideration when storing your laptop. If you need a simple, affordable card that does the job, and do not require 32-bit performance or an external jack, then purchase this card with confidence.
Netgear FA411 16-Bit PCMCIA Network Card (10/100 Mbps) Opinions
I bought the cheaper but this is real mccoy . I have purchased cheaper solutions to net connections that failed terribly. This was only (a bit) more. It worked like a charm. I am actually connect writting this review with this item. I strongly recommend this product. I honestly don't know what the 16 bit means but, hey it works and works well.

iView 1000STB ATSC Digital to Analog TV Converter Box

Price : Too low to display

Digital converter boxes receive over-the-air digital TV broadcasts for viewing on TVs that do not have built-in digital tuners. If you wish to keep using your analog TV set, you must purchase a digital converter box. This box receives over-the-air digital TV broadcasts for viewing on a TV that does not have a built-in digital (ATSC) tuner. Additional features include EPG (Electronic Programming Guide), RCA output, antenna RF input (F-type connector), RF output, Closed Caption, and remote control.

This review is from : iView 1000STB ATSC Digital to Analog TV Converter Box
Does what it needs to . This converter box was pretty easy to set up-- though just because it is a fairly simple process, not because the instructions were remotely helpful. The instructions (in not-quite-comprehensible English, at times) bore no relation to the set-up steps actually needed to program the converter initially, but I managed to figure it out on my own anyway.

The converter gets the job done, but it is somewhat frustrating. For instance, the remote is sort of a piece of junk-- you have to have it right in front of the box the majority of the time (thus rather defeating the "remote" concept) and the keys are touchy-- sometimes you have to hold them down to make them work, sometimes they're overly touchy and will register multiple times, sometimes they get stuck, sometimes they don't work at all.

All in all, I plan to keep this converter as it was the cheapest I found, and it does what I need to... just not 100% smoothly or conveniently. Unless you're looking for something super high-tech, this will probably suit your needs.
iView 1000STB ATSC Digital to Analog TV Converter Box Reviews
why pay for cable? . My daughter cannot afford cable and has been without tv all year. If I had known it was this easy for her to get reception, we would have bought this long ago. With this unit and a small antenna on top of her tv, she is able to get all of the local channels (including PBS) -- she gets between 15 and 22 channels. She is so happy to have this unit.
iView 1000STB ATSC Digital to Analog TV Converter Box Opinions
Great Product for the Price !!! . Bought one as a gift to my mother so she can use her old flat tube TV in the bedroom.
I was skeptical at first, but when I received and installed the product, I was completely satisfied.
Price is cheaper than those in Best Buy & other retail stores, but overall quality is great or maybe better

Pro:
Easy setup menu - clear & concise
Quick search & Pick-up all the Digital Channels that the location can pick-up
A Lot of features
Great Picture quality (even with Composite RCA)

Cons:
remote control is not as responsive as it should (you have to really point the remote to the box if you want it to work nicely).

Responsible vendor . The unit was delivered promptly and worked fine for a week, then it failed. It turned out to be the AC to DC converter module. When I contacted Amazon and Gizmos, they shipped me a replacing AC to DC converter module, no questions asked. Exemplary performance.
Digital Converter box . TV just gone Digital and this works great. all stores sold out so happy I bought it a while ago.
Decent Converter Box . I've had one of these for about six months now with no problems. Yes, it does take several seconds to turn on after you press the power button. Yes, the picture is grainy if you hook it up with the coaxial cable instead of through the TV's A/V inputs (I've done it both ways). Still, this box has some really nice features -- like the ability to manually scan and add channels that may not come in all the time, and look at a "program guide" for channels that support it to show you what will be on what channels and when. You can also change the aspect ratio of the display, and the box has its own volume and mute controls. I've been able to pick up more channels with this box than with the other box we have in our home (a Magnavox), including channels 30+ miles away, for a total of twelve constantly-viewable channels.

Now for the dislikes: you probably want to have an amplified antenna for this box, as some channels with weaker signals will come in, but will do so pixelated. I have a standard set of RCA rabbit ears, and they work fine for most channels, but to get the most out of your signal you'll probably want a much better antenna (one that may cost as much as this box does). The box itself DOES get rather warm/hot to the touch when left on for several hours, but signal is unaffected. I personally have had no mechanical issues or problems with the box, but by a lot of the other reviews, many others have had them. Also, as others have said, you cannot delete channels that have been picked up by the scan, whether you want them or not. The remote is also unresponsive unless it's pointed directly at the box, and sometimes the buttons stick and/or work faster than the box actually will (i.e., there's a lag-time involved).

Overall, though, if you live somewhere that gets good over-the-air reception, this should be a good box for you. Just make sure you have a good antenna and you don't leave it on until it gets really hot. Otherwise? It's been worth the money to me.
tv converter box . the iview 1000stb was what i thought it was , to me it was the price that sold me, there might be cheaper ones, but this had better features,

Cons Review
TERRIBLE CONVERTER - RUINED MY TV!!! . Terrible converter with very bad and grainy signal output. What's worse is that it started having electrical problems and took down my TV with it as it went up in smokes. Now my TV is damaged and I cannot watch TV! The company behind this (RJ Tech) will not even replace the converter, let alone my TV it destroyed!!! Garbage, stay away!!!
Not a Good Product...broke down...don't buy . We purchased this, and after approx. 48 hours of total use it stopped working. First there was no sound on the tv, and then it just died completely when we turned it off and on a few times. Just completely died! I wouldn't buy this one. Buyer beware.
Not worth the money . With today's economy, we are trying to find ways to cut back. We enjoy TV but decided this was an area we could change. After searching and reading reviews on different analog converter boxes, we chose this one. I am sorry to say, it was a mistake. We bought one for ourselves and one for our elderly mother and in one months time both have started doing odd things once they have been on for a short time. Sometimes the pictures will come in great, other times there will be no picture, still other times the picture is there but does odd things. In other words, after one month we could not use it. Very disappointing for us after spending the money. We have now bought two more at a store here in town and so far so good. I don't like giving unfavorable reviews but this time I feel I should in order to help others avoid the mistake we made.

As a result, your HDTV seems to take forever to load programming from your PC and other digital sources. However, with the CY-SWR1100 Wireless Router, the best streaming content and fastest throughput speeds go to your HDTV first thanks to Samsung's Auto Prioritized QoS (Quality of Service) feature. An auto-sync feature also makes setup easy: just put the router within a foot of your HDTV to sync up; then place the router anywhere. The CY-SWR1100: Fast. Easy. Smart.

Great . This was the easiest thing to do. Just plug and play really. Works great even through several concrete walls in a very large apartment.

A HAPPY CUSTOMER . .
After reading the two very negative reviews on this site I was apprehensive about buying this router. After reading these reviews a second time I determined these folks either did not read the complete instructions provided on the included DVD or they were not computer literate. .One fellow was shocked to find out a router requires a power cord.I am very pleased with this router and had no trouble installing it and getting it to work with my Samsung SmartTV. When I did have one minor problem - I sent an email to Samsung Support and received an answer within 24 hours. I think it was great service.

Cons Review
2 DAYS TO GET CONNECTED . IF YOU BUY THIS ROUTER YOU NEED TO CALL D-LINK FOR SET-UP 1-855-278-7678. WAS A REAL "B" TO SET-UP THIS IS SAMSUNG ROUTER DEPT. SAMSUNG REGULAR CUSTOMER DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PRODUCT. I REALLY DON'T RECOMMEND IT TOOK FAR TO LONG TO GET WORKING.
WIRELESS??? Not close! . Don't be fooled by the 'WIRELESS' definition. It took an ethernet cable, that's one, then an AC-DC adaptor, that's two, followed by a RCA plug-in in the back of the 'WIRELESS' router to a wall outlet to make this thing work at all, for me, never got going, because it had shipped with an Asian plug, Samsung told me to go to Walmart and buy yet another adaptor to go from 2 round plugs to the USA 2 slotted plug, I told them never mind, sending it back.

BTW, there was never a word printed in the instructions that said a word about getting one foot away from the Samsung HDTV series 6500 and above (I have a 46D7000) and the router would automatically connect, not worth the money or the time and aggrevation.
