Suitable for HostAP use on Linux . I know it is difficult to find cards that work well with linux. This card is inexpensive and worked without a hitch on my Ubuntu installation. (Including 802.11n) It uses the Atheros9k driver and worked with HostAP. Great cheap option for building an access point.

Great product TP-Link has come a long way . I recently purchased this product for my new PC that did not have built in WIFI. I normally go with brands like D-link or Net Gear but based on the other reviews and the price I decided to go with this card.Pro's

Nice Product at a Great price . Was using a wired Ethernet adapter operating at 54Mbps. Wanted wireless-N speeds and convenience of wireless. Bought this adapter based upon feedback of others. It is a good product because I installed it and it simply works. New speed based upon my hardware configuration went to 135 Mbps as it ranges up to 300Mbps. So tripled the speed for less than $40. The only challenge was getting the latest driver downloaded and installed. The driver that came with the board had conflicts with my hardware because it was so old a driver (if I recall a 2008 version). I downloaded the 2010 version of the software driver after installation of the board and it runs really well with no hiccups for about a month since we've had it. My wife is pleased because she simply turns on the computer and uses it at a much faster speed. A good buy. Bought through Amazon also makes the delivery process simple and reliable.
Easy fix worth the money . Remove the computer router hassle and clutter. I have a T-Mobile Wireless Hotspot and this works great to connect the home computer to it. When you tether the Hotspot with a USB cord you loose speed, with this, you don't. It's easy to install. Take off tower case cover, and plug it into a PCI slot. If you only have one PCI slot (it won't work with PCI Express) then you'll need to remove whatever is plugged into it--probably a modem card. The mini-CD had the Windows 7 driver which had to be installed, too. It walks you through the install, and was easy to do. Hope this works as well for you, too.
Works with LinuxMint 11 . I was hitting my head up against the wall trying to get my wireless card to work. Throwing my old card (rt61pci based) in the trash and buying this one was the best thing I ever did. It connected instantly the very first time. Life is too short to waste on iwconfig.
Just works . Just received this adapter in the mail. Worked out of the box w/ one exception. Uses proprietary driver, which comes on the disk. Plugged it in, pointed the installation to the cd for drivers... connected at 300Mbps. Great price. No complaints whatsoever.
Excellent Wireless PCI Adapter! . I paired this adaptor with the Asus RT56U wireless router, and I have been getting great reception and speed even though the room I'm working in is one floor up, in the far corner, and separated by a brick wall. I used a a desktop antenna (TL-ANT2405C) to improve the reception, but it was fine even before I attached the additional antenna. It connects at a theoretical 300Mbps, a speed I have never attained with any USB adaptor.

I used the Windows7 driver downloaded from the TP-Link website. Absolutely no problems!
Works great . I ordered this to use in a media PC I built because I didn't want to cut holes in walls and run a cable to it. It connects at 150 mbps and I've had no problems streaming video from Netflix or Amazon.
Works as hoped . Installed quickly into PC and was immediately recognized by Windows XP. Followed the instructions and got software installed and the wireless router made the connection. It actually seems a bit faster than the DSL hardwired connection I was using. Only thing not included in the instructions was anything about the three antennas. They screw on (as opposed to push on).
Awesome . This is a great wireless card. Installation was a snap. Went from a "G" to a "N" standard and we are not achieving hardwired speed from a wireless card. I cannot believe how much a $30 device would improve the browsing experience. Highly recommended.

Works as Advertised. . Bought this dual band AE2500 adapter to replace my old single band adapter. Installation was quick and painless. Insert CD, wait until it tells you to plug in
the adapter, chose your network and off you go. It probably didn't take me 30 seconds from the time I inserted the CD Rom drivers disk until I was connected.
I have a Vizio Dual Band Router which is one of the Best Bang for the Buck Dual Band Routers out there Btw. The AE2500 Found the routher without any issues.
The only choice I had to make was at which frequency I wanted to connect. I have tried both 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz and the 5ghz band was over 3 times as fast vs
the 2.4ghz at least in my household. The computer I connected it to is upstairs and the adapter still connected through several walls and ceiling.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase. We shall see if it will hold up over the months to come.

Great Product !!! . I am using the AE2500 with a Cisco-Linksys E3000 High-Performance Wireless-N Router. Works great and I have no complaints at all. As good as my previous Ethernet connection. Easy set up disk. My guess is that the only other Amazon review (1 star) was due to a previous Wireless USB Adapter not being properly removed, and thus causing conflict with the AE2500. I have a Cisco-Linksys AE1000 High-Performance Wireless-N Adapter on another computer, and this Adapter works just as well on the same network, at a cost of $10 less on Amazon.com.
Great Product . Wow! Wanted to connect my 93 yr old Dad's PC (which runs with OS Windows XP) to my brother's wireless next door-about 60 or 70 ft away. Brother has a Belkin N Router. Bought this product, followed the simple instructions and bingo. Took five minutes and Dad is now speeding along watching You Tube and loving it! I would highly recommend it.
Not true . The adapter works fine. 20+ mb/s down and 3 mb/s up. Wireless networks are tricky and can be unstable for various reasons. Best to uninstall anything previous and then install the device. I would bet the negative reviews are not really tech savvy. Took away one star because the driver install software indicates not properly installed on Win 7 32 Home Prem when in fact if you just jump out and test it it is installed fine.
Couldn't have been easier or more effective! . I have an OLD Dell laptop. And due to some unfortunate home network pre-planning on my part, my main internet connection port, and subsequently, my wireless router, is not exactly in an optimal spot for good wifi distribution throughout my home. For a long time I blamed that bad router placement for my experiencing so many connection drops on the laptop whenever I'd visit any kind of graphics-heavy website or attempt to download a file of more than about a megabyte in size. I even had a hard time transferring files from other computers on my home network to the laptop without losing the connection in the middle of the transfer. It was extremely frustrating.However I noticed that when my kids would come home with their newer, Windows Vista laptops, they had none of the same connection problems I did. So recently, I decided to upgrade the old laptop's OS from Win XP to Windows 7, thinking that might help the router and laptop work together a little better. Heh. Just my luck, the laptop's internal wifi adapter wasn't supported by Win 7. So I did a little research and decided on the Linksys AE2500 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter, which I purchased through Amazon. Wow.The installation could not have been simpler and the performance has been amazing. Now I get a strong, fast connection from anywhere in my house, all via the same router with no change to its setup or location. The problem was the laptop's old internal wifi adapter all the time! I'm extremely satisfied with the Linksys AE2500 adapter. It's fabulous and it just works! And at under $40 it's a great deal as well.My ONLY concern is for its seemingly flimsy construction, so I'd say that care should probably be taken that nothing touches or exerts any considerable downward pressure on the adapter body while it's inserted into your laptop's USB port. While I certainly haven't tested its tensile strength, the thing seems as though it might snap off fairly easily.But no other complaints! If you need a USB wifi adapter, this is a good one!
Yes! It Works! . Slapped this thing in an older model Compaq laptop. Didn't wanna work at first so I tested it out on a more modern Dell desktop and it worked seamlessly. After getting it to work on the desktop, I slapped it back in the laptop and it worked like it should have to begin with. Here are a few pointers with this adapter.If you don't have an optical drive, the drivers are on the web.
If you don't have a dual band router this is overkill.
If it drops out on you(hasn't on me yet), don't pull it out or restart the system, reinstall in device manager.This thing is great, it's such a step up from the verizon 3G adapter we were using. Get it.
Works perfectly with the E4200 Wireless Router . Plugged it in and set was a breeze. You cant say that often with peripherals these days, but for me setting up this system was fast and easy. Been going a couple weeks and not a single problem. Love Wireless!!! And love Cisco products too.

Cons Review
Loses connect way to often; feels like it overheats! . Bought this product to connect to my new E3200 router. Install fine; connects fine; can't stay connected if you start e-mail of a file attachment .5M or more; each time it felt like the adapter over-heated; doing research I found that this seems to be an inherent problem for this product; after many many attempts to create an environment allowing this product to work continuously I have given up; went back to my Cisco Wireless G adapter which was always a champ but it is limited to 54mbps not the 300mpbs I wanted from the wireless N adapter. My recommendation is NOT TO BUY this product.
Terrible Customer Support . I purchased this adapter based on reviews of the product, however something else to consider is customer support if things go wrong. I bought this new (not refurbished) and it did not work from the beginning. I was getting .8Mbps throughput where my other wireless adapter gave me 9Mbps in the same exact location. I spent hours online trying to update drivers and find a solution. I finally contacted technical support where they had me try a few things that did not work. the woman said it needed to be replaced. I had to hang up and call back for customer support (she couldn't just connect me because they are outsourced). The woman i spoke to this time said it wasn't documented that a replacement was warranted so asked me how exactly I updated the drivers. I explained exactly. She gave me a new ticket number and again said I had to hang up and call customer support. I did and again was told that it wasn't documented that a replacement was warranted (everything else was apparently documented, both calls). I did the tech support thing again and this time, they documented that a replacement was warranted. I called customer support and was told that they would be sending me a refurbished unit once i ship and they receive my defective adapter! I complained that I bought it new and it has never worked and that I should be given a new unit. The woman didn't care, just said that was the policy, and with every complaint I made, i got the same response. that's their policy.So, if you want to buy a cisco-linksys product, go ahead but if it doesn't work, don't expect much support and definately do not expect a new replacement to your defective unit.

Fastest Internal Modem . US Robotics PCI Modem 0637

This 56K internal modem is similar in size to the earlier ISA versions that were Plug and Play (PNP), or used jumpers to set the COM port and the IRQ number. The 0637 modem is only PNP, there are no jumpers to select the COM and IRQ settings. This modem has a socket so it can be connected to some audio cards. You can find modem drivers for this modem on the Internet. This is a Data / Fax modem. It connects over telephone lines to converse with another computer. The Fax capability allows it to send and receive facsimile messages without a separate dedicated fax machine. But a fax machine is better with a dedicated telephone line as it won't interfere with voice communications at the same time. It is easier to use for the average person.

Internal modems are inserted into the appropriate slot after the power is off and the cover removed. When the Windows operating system starts it will recognize the added hardware. You can either let Windows search for the driver software, or direct it to the floppy drive or folder on your hard drive. The drivers (mdm3cvm1, wmwave) for this "56K Voice Win" modem fits on a floppy disk, or CD. You will need added software to support sending and receiving faxes on your computer. Some software will handle pages that have been read into the computer via a scanner.

This modem can handle the top speed of local telephone lines. If you are further than 3 to 5 miles from the telephone switching station the top speed will probably be lower. Static on the lines can affect transmission speeds. The long wires act as aerials to pick up radio transmissions or electromagnetic disturbances. You may also notice a drop in speed during heavy rains. Thunder and lightning can affect the lines. Hardware modems are inherently faster than a Windows modem because there is no operating system use.

CD-ROM drives are designed to meet international standards. You can replace most any CD-ROM drive with another, even from a different manufacturer, and it will still work. Not so with modems, sound cards, and video cards. They usually need special driver software that is unique to that model. IDE hard drives have the same interchangeability as long as the size is supported by the computer's BIOS and the jumpers are set correctly.

This is a good 802.11 card . This is a decent product and works as well as I remembered. Their product website isn't helpful AT ALL and it does take some investigating to find the driver that downloads correctly. Luckily, CNET never lets me down. I would suggest going there FIRST if you're looking for drivers to download for this product. Otherwise, it's a good product and works well with my router.

Cons Review
Didn't work for me . Tried installing the included drivers as well as downloaded from the website. The computer never recognized the device. It may have been an issue with the laptop I was using too, but was a waste of my time for all that effort.

Great Hub at a Great Price . I've worked as a computer consultant for may years. I migrated over from 3COM to Intel, and finally to Linksys. Why?I found the 3COM network cards to be difficult to install and configure, both the intel and 3com hub and network cards to be expensive. I've installed over a dozen of these types of Linksys hubs and network cards have always been trouble free and easy installations. I like less work.The 100BaseT connections work great for file transfer between servers and high use computers. The 10BaseT works great for connecting devices like network printers. And, nothing beats a self-starting network printer on a network. Be sure to get linksys network cards too. They are cheap and work perfect, and are easy to install.Note: If you plan to daisy chain many hubs separated by more than ten (10) meters there are issues with configuration that limit speed. This is true of all hubs. For complicated networks, see your local computer consultant.

Net. Admin. recommends hub . I work for the Univ. of Illinois as a Net. Admin. and I had design a new computer lab. This hub works great because it is reliable and I have never had any trouble with it. Since there's nothing to configure it was easy to setup. The 10/100 ability allows the ability to adapt when our network upgrades to 100BT in a few months which was great because we didn't need to buy a new hub. I initially thought the hub would get hot but it stayed relatively warm no matter what which is a good sign that the product will last.

Simple to use . We installed a 7 node LAN in our house. 5 PCs plus two HP print servers. My 17 year old daughter did the router and hub installation by just reading the manuals and using her intuition. That is a pretty strong recommendation!

Cons Review
Worked for 1 year and then chip burnt up.... . I bought this product and hooked it up for a year with 2 computers on it. When, after just over a year, I put for computers on it for LAN gaming, the processor burnt up. Since hubs don't need to do much processing this is pretty poor quality..... Bottom line is if you are going to hook more than 2 computers up to it get a different brand.

Works Great and looks COOL . Who would have ever thought we'd be using so many USB devices? usb . plug and play for this...i use it on my macbook pro 15 inch unibody...it has a powerplug thats short but it doesnt matter i use it in conjunction with my dj equipment so everything is right there anyway...great product for a great price...i dont think you have to use the powerplug unless you are using some really powerful usb components like my 2 midi controllers...the only thing is i wish i could dim the light or turn it off but whatever the black with the blue light combo is pretty cool

Cons Review
Garbage buy anything else . This item is a piece of garbage, I am returning it. The unit emits a high-pitched squeal when plugged in, rendering it completely useless. The tone and volume are far to annoying to permit extended use. Also, the power cord that comes with the unit is about 1.5 feet long, not long enough to reach from my power strip to the top of my desk. Called Belkin about both issues, was initially told that they would send me a new one with a longer cord, then told a week later that all their cords were the same length. Worthless product from a worthless company. Don't waste your money.
it doesn't do what the maker claim it does . I have plugged several devices such as my ipod touch and a portable hard drive and does not recognize neither of them. I thought it had something to do with an specific port but the same happens in any of them, I tried plugging them directly on the computer and they worked fine. It just can't handle having more than 4 ports used at the same time. Don't waste your money.
Bad Belkin bad . After a while of struggling with all USB devices connected to this hub I finally figured out the problem: the supplied cable that goes from the computer to this hub doesn't connect properly at the hub; if you have it connected to the supplied electricity adapter you won't notice because the (garish) blue lights remain turned on. Disconnect it from the mains and you'll see the hub lights sometimes turn on, sometimes not, so you need to fiddle with it to make it work. Poor manufacturing and design, to say the least. It may be just a lemon, or a problem with the entire line, in any case you shouldn't waste your money doing Belkin's quality tests for them! Are all other Belkin products this bad?

I didn't buy this from Amazon and it's obviously not their fault that Belkin decided to launch such a poor product.
Stupid cable is too short to make this useful. . The power cable is about a 1? foot long. Since the power comes out around the floor, and the hub sits on my desk, well, it fails to sit on my desk. It barely reaches the back of the desk, and then the cable is so tight it falls to the ground.

I don't know what they were thinking. It's just a stupid, stupid, design flaw that makes the whole thing useless.
Lasted about 18 mos dying . Lasted about 18 mos before ports started dying. But there was no indication of failure from hub, only sporadic failure of devices to connect

Fantastic for TV away from home . This product is fantastic for watching your favorite TV channels or DRV recordings when on vacations and business trips away from home. I use the Slingbox with my satellite DVR and it works surprisingly well in a small video window on my Mac notebook. As expected the video quality is very dependent on the available bandwidth. I have about a 3mbps upload speed at home, so I've gotten pretty decent video quality when I had a 1mbps download speed when in a hotel. I've also heard a story from a friend that he was able to watch a football game on his notebook on a flight that offered WiFi. That's pretty cool!
Great Product . I am a gadget person so I'm surprised I had not heard more about Slingbox. My sister and step-son had one but I didn't really know much about it. I bought this product mainly to have the option to watch TV on my iPhone. Great results. I have a FloTv but that has limited stations and range. Now I can watch anywhere there is 3G service on my phone. I also purchased the SlingLink because my router is in another room. I am very happy with my purchase.
WAY simpler than I had thought . I picked up a Slingbox Solo to do a test run before my bro moved to Germany. It sounded so complicated and above my technological abilities. However, got it home; plugged it in; hooked it to my wireless router...figured out a dumb glitch on my part and wham-o! we have our TV on the internet. You do have to have close access to high speed internet (Slingbox recommend 600 kbps - anything lower than that comes through grainy and somewhat blurry; I still have about 110 kbps which is way below their recommendation and it comes through - just not the best picture quality. We will be working on upgrading our internet speed). I just plugged it onto the back of my wireless router and it doesn't interrupt internet service in my house. I also chose to hook this up to my DVR rather than my basic satellite because it was closer to my internet router. The TV that is "slung" will actually be controlled by whoever is watching on the internet though. So unless you can figure out how to change that - try to give access to a lesser used TV set. Also, I made the mistake of plugging my Slingbox into the back of my DVR to TV2 not TV1. Something that I didn't even realize - the problem with that is that to get remote control on what you are watching on the internet, you have to have IR (or infared) connection (the slingbox comes with a wire that you plug on one end into the Slingbox and attach the other to top and bottom of the DVR/satellite box pointing to the place that receives the remote control signal. The wire from the Slingbox has infared bulbs just like a remote control has - just follow the simple Slingbox instructions. I am making it sound way more complicated than it is). Simple enough because the remote for the TV farthest away from the DVR in my house runs on radio frequency rather than infared (IR). Slingbox chat support online helped me get that resolved - very helpful and free. Once I got that figured out, I just switched the plug ins from TV2 to TV1. The owner's manual for my DVR helped me figured out which TV was on RF (Radio frequency) and which was one IR (Infared).
I highly recommend the Slingbox. The instructions are super simple and easy and if you run into any trouble within 90 days of buying the Slingbox, just get online and do chat support. Final note - I bought this one at Best Buy and was thinking about getting their technical support to hook it up. DON'T DO THAT! It's way better to slog through it for a few hours and get it figured out on your own. Now if I have any problems with it in the future, I most likely will know what to do.
Pretty happy - although died after 18 months. . I'm glad I have this product since I'm on the road so often and my dvr fills up if I don't watch my recordings. Its also been good for out-of-town family who want to watch the local football games that they can't get in other states. I just give them the slingbox IP and password. But connecting from hotels can be problematic. Help centers at hotels and Slingbox are not usually helpful. I've had to change hotels if the firewalls prevent successful connection from my wireless laptop. If there's a power outage at home, I have to wait to reset and reconfigure the box when I get home. 95% of the time, I can get a connection from a good hotel like a Marriott. The quality is not very good on my laptop, but acceptable

I also had to purchase a $100 ethernet wireless bridge since my dvr cable box is in a different room from my cable company's internet router. But I also use the bridge for connecting my netflix-capable blue-ray player now. Follow up... My Solo died this week after 1 1/2 years of use. Warranty only lasts a year. I'll probably go ahead and buy an HD upgrade since I'm already invested in the ethernet bridge, and I still travel a lot.
