The AV3000 Amped Wireless A/V Net Connect connects your Internet-ready audio and video devices, such as Blu-ray players, game consoles, Internet-ready TVs and more, to your home WiFi network for Internet access. The A/V Net Connect eliminates the need to run Ethernet cables to your media center by creating a connection to your home WiFi network using built in WiFi amplifiers to ensure a reliable connection that’s fast enough for HD media streaming and online gaming. The A/V Net Connect connects to your A/V devices using the five (5) Ethernet ports on the back panel. In addition, the A/V Net Connect also boosts and repeats the WiFi signal from your home WiFi network so that other WiFi enabled A/V devices can connect to the A/V Net Connect for a more reliable connection.

Amped Wireless AV3000 rocks! . While upgrading my home theater receiver I knew I had to finally bring a strong Internet connection into my media room, but pulling wire was going to be way too much hassle, so I went looking for a reliable wireless n bridge router. After researching a number of products from brands I was familiar with, I came across the Amped Wireless AV3000. I'd never heard of the company before, but the reviews were as strong (stronger) as any I'd read and the price was very reasonable, so I bought one. I'm so glad I did--it rocks! Set-up was easy, save for needing to access the unit by the IP address as the URL didn't work for me. This must be fairly common as it is clearly explained in the set up instructions. Once past that, setup was a breeze and I was up and running in no time. I now have my new receiver (Marantz SR7005--totally awesome!!!), my Oppo Blu-Ray and my Tivo HD all wired to the AV3000 and everything works great. In the past when streaming Netflicks through Tivo using the Tivo wireless g connection we had to suffer through numerous pauses during the first fifteen minutes or so as the movie downloaded, even at a less than ideal resolution. With the AV3000, even the highest res streaming flies without a hitch. Sweet. I highly recommend this bridge to anyone looking for a reasonable cost, effective solution to getting wired connections in locations that are hard to pull wire to. You won't regret it.
Amped Wireless A/V Net Connect (AV3000) Reviews
Set and forget plus adds range to my wifi network . Not only does this function as an access point to my home wifi (my wireless adapter card kept constantly dropping connection), this will increase range to your home network by at least 70 feet. In my room (where the av connect is) i used to get3 bars, now i have full 5 bars of signal.
#1 reason why you should get this, Because I am using it mainly to connect my desktop, the ethernet connection made it i do not have to install any drivers or anything else, just plug in the ethernet cable and youre good to go! its as simple as that, upon first use, you set up the name, and whether or not to use the av connect as a wireless repeater.
You can use any basic cat5 or cat 6 cable because maximum speed for wireless N right now is 300mbps so a 1gbps cable is not needed.
Even though my router rarely has any problems, its nice to know that amped wireless will "self heal" the connection, meaning it will constantly try to reconnect if connection is ever dropped.
Keep note, it is much smaller than i expected it to be, probably half the size of a normal router, but it packs a punch!it can be mounted on a wall or has a stand so it can be vertical.
the 2 antannaes can be replaced with more powerful ones, but the until itself should already suffice, as the av connect amplifies its signals with a 100mw low noise amp i believe, ( i might be wrong on the exact wattage).
You can control how big of a wireless field the unit emits from max to none at all which is nice if you have a small house or if you dont want the feeling of 100% wifi signal pulsing through your body.
Ive had this for 2 weeks now and i love it, literally 0 issues whatsoever. sure its 100 bucks but id rather spend it knowing i dont have to worry about my internet connection again rather than having to frustrate over a crappy $50 that keeps dropping the connection in the middle of netflix.
Amped Wireless A/V Net Connect (AV3000) Opinions
Works well . I got this a few days ago, and it works well. I connected my Slingbox and Xbox and no problems so far. Also, the wifi signal at home is stronger than it was before with just our wireless router.
Ran into a minor issue on install, so I called tech support and they got me sorted out quickly.
Does NOT work with WPA2 (modern) security. Does work with WPA (mixed) and WEP . I will make this short and sweet. I have bought 3 of these things. The first one didn't work. I returned it after being on the phone with the Amped Wireless people, and my internet service provider (Surewest Broadband), and having a service technician come out and look at it. They all guessed that the unit was faulty/bad, so I returned it and ordered a replacement. The second one worked (go figure). I recently ordered a third one, because I wanted to add an access point to another room. The reason I wanted THESE particular wireless repeaters, is because they ALSO have Ethernet ports. That allows older devices (like 1st and 2nd generation blu-ray players) that are capable of going online only with a wired connection, to still work. The 3rd one didn't work either, and, as an added bonus -- it knocked my 2nd one (which had been working up to that point) offline, and I couldn't get it back online after that (must have been a fluke that I got it connected at all in the first place). The symptoms for the units not working are their inability to STAY connected to the network. They will connect, and then disconnect, over and over again. After the 3rd one KO'd the 2nd one, I called Amped and tried to get help. I left a message because it was after hours. Days later, I was tired of waiting for them to call me back, so I called my ISP. We tried *EVERYTHING* to get them working (three cheers for Surewest, by the way, their 24x7 tech support was AWESOME helping me work through this). After messing with what channel the router was on, and various other settings, we final stumbled across the fact that the security mode the router was set on, affected whether or not the Amped Wireless Repeater could connect or not. The repeater was able to connect, and stay connected, in WEP mode, and also WPA-mixed mode (but not the most current WPA2 mode). Now that we have monkeyed with literally all of the settings, and rebooted everything and got them all to connect, I am happy. But -- it was a *GIANT* hassle. I work with technology for a living, so I was fairly comfortable messing with these things. Additionally, my ISP locks me out of my router, and only they can mess with it remotely -- which can be irritating, but also means a professional is changing the settings. I cannot even imagine how a non-technically inclined person would handle buying the repeater, and having their home network set on WPA2, and not being able to connect the repeater to the network. They certainly wouldn't know how to log into their router and change security level settings. I imagine, that, like me, they would send it back as broken. Amped, when I talked to them, never mentioned the security settings on the router. The only thing they wanted to try was port forwarding, which, when we did do so with the ISP, didn't solve the issue. So, there you have it. When the device works, it is pretty awesome. But getting it to the point where it is working can be a chore. If yours works right out of the box with your network, then bump my review up to 4 stars. Otherwise, the 3 star rating stands.
Perfect . Hooked this up to my smart TV and it works great. Worked so well that I use this for all my WiFi devices now. No more lag or disconnects.
Poor setup for advanced networks . For the average home user, the setup is easy. Of course in making the setup easy it's a pita for the advanced network setup. The instructions inform you to fire up the unit, plug in an RJ-45 network cable and point your browser [...]. Of course the device is hard coded to 192.168.1.240 and assumes the pc you plug-in will use a dhcp client and not have a static address. The geniuses that setup the config web page insist on redirecting you to the FQDN [...] on the setup page, which of course fails because you have a static IP and are not using that domain from the device. So, first hurdle is to add an entry to your hosts file to redirect to 192.168.1.240. Then, change the IP address of the unit, and change the hosts file again. Of course if you set a static IP address for the unit, it doesn't accept a change the domain name, so once you get it set and try to navigate to the device from another PC using the IP address, it again attempts to redirect to the ampedwireless domain. GRR, stupid developers.
Once it's configured, it works great, but set aside 5x as long as you think it will take to configure if you have anything beyond a simple network.
UPDATE - 8/3/2011 - A new firmware version was released that allows the user to turn off the redirection to the FQDN! Good job Amped. Repeater still working well.
Seamless! . Rec'd yesterday- setup took minutes. I disconnected from my PC and placed in living room- connected Onkyo TX-NR708, PS3, Samsung LN40A LCD TV and ALL worked! It also serves as a reapeater! Very pleased.
Cons Review Not so much . I purchased this a few days ago. Not very happy with the problems getting this thing to partially work.
Problem 1
The web interface would not work with a number of different browser/os combinations.
Problem 2
Some settings would not stay configured. Like setting the clock, setting a user ID and password, setting WAP2, Also it would not allow me to update the firmware.
Problem 3
I called their tech support and got a guy that must have been on his first or second day. Every question I asked he had to put me on hold and get someone else to help answer it.
This product is not very well tested. YMMV
Does not work with 2Wire modems . Setup was easy and started working right away. Which is why although I had to return it I gave it 2 stars.
Unfortunately after speaking with tech support I was told that there was a known issue with the brand of modem/router I have.
The brand is 2WIRE. I have AT&T U-Verse. The connection was intermittent at best and would work for a few hours and then drop. If you have another brand of modem I would recommend it.
Extremely difficult setup. . while the device looks decent and the defaults are in line with most home network settings, the difficulty comes when you try to do any sort of setup on the device.
First, the device ships with a static IP 192.168.1.240. This gets you into the setup wizard. Of course, that IP is no good as soon as the device reboots. You have to dig around your internet router to find out what dynamic IP address was assigned.
Second, there is an "Extended A/V network" which is basically an additional SSID that bridges into your existing wireless. Supposedly this is to extend range, but that could be implemented using repeater technology instead of overlaying frequencies that are sparse in an urban setting. This SSID ships with a default passcode that can easily be found on the internet, letting every kid with a prigles can into your network.
Finally, every time I try to disable the network, or make the device use a static IP address (both options in the Advanced setup) the device loses the home wireless configuration that was established using the wizard in the first place. This puts you back to square 1.
This device may function wonderfully IF I could ever get it setup. That is taking an exceptional amount of time and is not providing a good user experience. I would not purchase or recommend this product.
