IBOSS Home is a MUST for all parents!!! . I started looking for a solution to protect my kids from reaching the 'wrong' sites by accident. They are young and I found out early when they mistyped a website when I turned around. Before I knew it, I was trying to explain what the was on their computer. That opened my eyes that I need to have some protection. I was using a dlink secure spot a while back but it was TERRIBLE.It required to install software and other issues. I am a software guy so I know my stuff. I wanted to avoid software parental controls due to compatibility issues of Mac linux windows.
I found the iBoss EXTREMELY easy to use. The level of control detail is tremendous!! I can set when they can get on the internet (make sure its not before I can monitor) and how long they can be on it. I also can create policies for my toddler and younger son as well as adults so its flexible. There is nothing to install and anyone can use this. the previous posted I feel was unrealistic. Not many of us have 19 machines. This handles all my appliance including my sons XBOX and PS3 which was AMAZING! No more surfing on these gaming machines. also, I found it does have all the advanced features of a stanard router its just under the advanced area. At the end of the day, 99% of parents would use all the features as layed out. Its one of those set and forget product and why its so great. Especally when you can do that and it actually functions.

The filtering and monitoring of web usage is very good. However, I found that it slowed the Internet down to an unacceptable level. Websites that previously loaded instantly took several minutes to load at times. Many webpages timed out before loading.
After much research, I found OpenDNS to be a much better and cheaper answer to Internet filtering for our family.

Works Great!!! . I can't believe there aren't other products in this category. This thing works as advertised and every home should have one. The only con was the wireless signal is not really very strong. I had to hook up my existing wireless router to compensate. Besides that it works great.

Great filtering solution - OK wireless router . I was looking for a filter that could offer web filtering services for any device in our house (phone, ipod, laptops). This does the job nicely. While not 100% perfect (there are ways around most anything if you try hard enough), this makes it difficult enough for your average teen to be fenced off from some troublesome sites on the net. I was using a SonicWall before and it never handled web proxies correctly. The iBoss does it perfectly by using a combination of DNS and disallowing access to web sites by IP address alone (this is the Identity Phishing setting on the appliance). I went ahead and enabled the Strict Safe Search option which forces all internet searches, especially image searches to avoid certain pictures.
I now use the iBoss to restrict the kids' internet time so that they're not supposedly doing homework and watching YouTube instead. Now they have to login/logout of the net to make their 30 minutes of internet time count. Also each night, the iBoss emails me the violation log of the day, so I can have a conversation with the kids if needed. There is an option to just monitor access without blocking access. If the iBoss loses connectivity to the internet, you get a tamper warning so you know if someone unplugged it to get around the filter.
I am using this with an Airport Extreme wireless router. In order for the iBoss to see all computers/devices, I had to put the Airport in bridge mode. This meant I lost my Guest network capabilities, but kept the Airport's ability to restrict access to my wireless network based on MAC address. I actually hit a bug in the latest Apple firmware (7.5.2 as of this writing) that forced me to downgrade in order to get my Airport to work reliably in bridge mode.

iBoss information . I had already done my homework when I was looking for a filter solution. I am very happy with the product. I think it would be advised to inform customers that you have to purchase the yearly service to get it working. Also I do not like the fact the the router has wireless access to the interface with no way, that I have found, to disable that ability. Other then those things I think it is a great product.
IBoss OK for very basic router not good for more advanced needs . Easy to setup, works well. However, this item is very limited in its abilities. If you use VoIP phone service, lots of internet connected devices in your house, kids with devices such as IPOD's, phones, etc. This item may not be for you. You are limited to only 15 devices that you can assign profiles to. The rest will fall under a default profile. This forces even the default profile to allow internet access. I was told by the manufacturer that a model with more memory, thus more devices, is in the works but no release date. I love the conecept and it works great, just not enough options that even cheap router have such as DMZ, QOS, etc.
