So easy to install this 65-year-old female could do it!!! . I purchased this to use with my Christmas gift, a LG BluRay DVD player, to download videos from NetFlix, YouTube and CinemaNow directly to my TV via my internet network. Since my network router is in another room I would have had to use a 100 foot cable in order to connect directly to my router and down a hallway to my DVD player in the living room. I couldn't put a hole in the wall to thread a cable through because I live in an apartment. The powerline seemed like the ideal solution. I bought it from AMAZON via Tiger Direct(I didn't know AMAZON sold it direct, I could have saved the shipping charge if I had known).

Anyway, when it arrived, it took all of about 10 minutes to plug one adapter into the outlet near my router, connect to the router with the supplied cord; then plug the other adapter into a outlet near my TV/DVD player and connect to the player with the supplied cord; turn on the TV and DVD player and presto, IT WORKED!
(I'm watching YouTube now.)
Belkin 85 Mbps Powerline Starter Kit (White) Reviews
A very good alternative to wireless for one computer . I have a basement office in my home that is far removed from the wireless router in the living area. Wireless reception in the office is poor and interference with intermittent loss of connectivity is common.

I looked at a lot of options to overcome this and this system seemed to offer what I was looking for. For once my guess was correct and I am 100% satisfied as I now get 85mbps+ with no problems.

The set up was simple - literally just plug the units in and go.

Only thing to note is that I only have one computer in my office. If you want multiple outlets this could/will become an expensive option but for my needs it is perfect.

Belkin 85 Mbps Powerline Starter Kit (White) Opinions
Great product! . I purchased this so that I would be able to connect my Playstaion 3 to my wired network which is setup on the other side of my condo. I had been using a long cord but it was a hassle. After some research I found this and after receiving it today I'm glad I did! There was no setup at all, just plugged one unit into the router and the other to the Playstaion, got online no problem. The connection speed even seems faster!
Works so well you can forget about it! . I was on wireless at 54MB/sec. The connection was great but unreliable. This wonderful invention brought the connection speed up to a consistent and reliable 85MB/sec. No dropouts, no lost connections, no hassle.
works fine for most situations . I was hoping to use the powerline adapter to avoid installing about 700 feet of ethernet cable (plus a signal repeater). The two units recognized eachother over the power line, but were not able to successfully transmit data. I couldn't even get the Belkin utility program to recognize the existence of the devices. I suspect this was either due to the long distance involved or else due to harmonic interference on the power line (from nearby variable speed motor drives). However, when I tried using the powerline adapter at home, it worked fine, with no problems whatsoever. I wasn't all that impressed with the documentation, by the way. Regardless, I suspect that if you have a reasonably normal setup without a lot of harmonics on your power line, you will probably be happy with this product.
Belkin 85 simply works . Take it out of the box, plug it into an electrical outlook, plug in an Ethernet cord and network. Couldn't be easier.
Problem Solver . I had problems connecting my new Panasonic Plasma with Viera Cast to the Internet. A co-worker suggested I try a powerline. I followed his suggestion and it works like a champ. Easy set up. A few minor configerations to the TV and it was off and running. I highly recommend a powerline if you have the same type if issue to resolve.
This is an excellent product . This is an excellent alternative to wireless networking. I have many concerns with the security of wireless networks, especially since most of the encryption algorithms have been compromised.
This product uses the households existing electrical wiring as the backbone of your network. One adapter connects to your router or a switch, the other you can plug into a an electrical outlet, and viola' you now have network connectivity.
This is a relatively inexpensive alternative to creating your own wired network in your home.

Cons Review
Pretty Much Useless . The setup is easy -- plug one unit ("the transmitter") into your router and an adjacent wall power outlet -- plug the other unit ("the receiver") into a wall outlet and (in my case) a laptop computer. Here are some download speed test results using Speakeasy.net/speedtest (1) laptop direct to router: 30.67 Mbps (2) laptop plugged into Belkin receiving unit that is plugged into the same outlet as the transmitting unit: 18.16 Mbps (3) laptop plugged into Belkin receiving unit plugged into wall outlet in same room: 15.81 Mbps (4) receiving unit in one room away from transmitting unit: 2.45 Mbps and (5) receiving unit downstairs in same house (at the location where I really want to use this setup for downloading movies to a Roku Box): 0.71 Mbps -- not too useful. I also had installed a Phase Coupler at my electric dryer just to be sure that there were no "out to the transformer and back" spurious signal paths. Bottom line: the Belkin stuff works about as good as two tin cans and a string.
Doesn't work as advertised . I went through the complete installation process and it would not work. Tried it various times and still no go. Went to the forums for answers, go some suggestions which I tried, but nothing worked. It would just not connect. Read somewhere, but can't verify if its true, that plugs had to be in same powerline---how in the world are we to know that? Do we need an engineering degree to use these?

May work for some, but worthless for me. Had to return. The return policy is good though. Was able to get refund.
