Great product but fan noise is killing me . Great product, provide the POE, and great features.
but fan noise is killing me, it is just too loud.
I think Cisco need to work on a nice fan speed control on this product.
Cisco SRW2008MP 8-port Gigabit Switch - WebView/Max PoE Reviews
good except... . The fan is very loud and high pitched. Teaming adapters worked in 64bit WinXP but I can't seem to make it work in 64bit WinVista. There is no tab for it.

Two thumbs up on customer service. . When I first ordered this item I was shipped the wrong item (full-length instead of half-hight) by mistake. I got in touch with the shipper who promptly appologized, immediately got the correct part in the mail, expedited the package USPS overnight and gave me $10.00 off the product. ha, you can't beat that for customer service!
Product swap was a breaze,(DIY)downloaded the drivers and application from Intel's web site and havent had any problems with it since. I can now roam freely throught my entire metro area with my Wimax subscription and I dont need one of those USB Dongle things sticking out the side of my laptop. The area I live and work in has 3 or 4 WiMax companies running high speed wireless so I have many high speed choices now. When I get to the office I switch over to the WiFi N network no problems.

Linksys PAP2T-NA

The Linksys PAP2-NA Phone Adapter enables high-quality feature-rich telephone service through your cable or DSL Internet connection. Just plug it into your home Router or Gateway and use the two standard telephone jacks to connect your existing phones or fax machines. Each phone jack operates independently, with separate phone service and phone numbers -- like having two phone lines.

This review is from : Linksys PAP2T-NA
Unfairly maligned ? . I'm not sure why the previous two reviewers had difficulties, and I'm not doubting that they did, but this device is widely used, and has a pretty good track record. I even use them in my home, I have installed them for others, and I take one on the road with me for remote access to my phone lines. Biggest trick is understanding the settings, and not accidentally purchasing one which is locked to some iffy provider (no names, please). Hard to beat for the price.

Linksys PAP2T-NA Reviews
Works well . This little box connected to the internet provides you the ability to use your analog (POTS) phones without having to pay the phone company. I have had it for a couple years and it does well. This one is unlocked so I use sipgate and google voice as my phone provider. Sipgate charges a couple dollars a month to provide it with 911 as well.
Linksys PAP2T-NA Opinions
Amazing sound quality . When I first purchased my pap2t I didn't know about countdown timer in the web interface. This explains why it takes a few minutes to connect to the VOIP service. I thought something was wrong with the technology. However now that I understand how the technology works I have had problem free phone service ever since. I have my entire home office wired up to this thing. Three phones, an MSNTV and a fax machine. While it takes a few seconds longer to connect a call than an analog phone line does that's the only real draw back. Once calls are connected it's fast and the sound quality is three times better than an analog phone line. It's like digitally remastering the audio quality of your phone calls. I use a local company called Xmission who has a AAA+ rating for great service. All my long distance calling is free plus every other calling feature you could want is free too. Now that I am able to use VOIP for my phone service, I don't have to rely on the regular phone company anymore. Thus I'm saving hundreds of dollars every year. Plus the PAP2T gives me access to much better phone technology. Unlike the older PAP2's, these are very easy to unlock. Compact you can wall mount them in a closet somewhere and forget their even there. Just like my 2wire DSL modem. PAP2 is a really hardy piece of equipment which almost takes care of itself. Overall I really like the PAP2T great VOIP interface. Easy to use. And best of all because it works just like analog phone service without the high price, the next house guest who asks to use your phone, will never know their using digital phone service.
Perfect choice . I chose this ATA as it is a well known performer with many VoIP sites having detailed configuration and support information. Works exactly as planned.
As advertized . Appears you pretty much have to buy online, nowhere to look at them. Bought one from an offshore dealer that looked legitimate, but later read they are mostly fakes and it burned out in about 4 months, so hoping for better and relying on better guarantees via Amazon if not. Set up quickly with instructions from my virtual phone company as posted online and works well with two phone hook ups. Good sound, functions, etc.
Works with Vocalocity . I only rate it a '4' because I have only had it a short time - I can't vouch for reliability, etc. Also, it does not have an "ethernet out" port (a router), and so any place I would use this I might also have to add a cheap router so as to not monopolize the ethernet plug in a wall.

Functionally, this was something I'd wanted for a long time. We are happy with Vocalocity, except that any kind of cordless phone or speaker phone was about $700. With this device we can buy cheap-ass cordless phones from Costco and the standard PolyCom conference phone and connect them to our VoIP service. Vocalocity told me they DO NOT SUPPORT this device - yeah, no wonder.

To configure, read the Vocalocity instructions for configuring the soft-phone that they support. I only needed to plug in 3 or 4 values, and it just worked.

My next purchase will be the Cisco product that is visually identical to this, with the addition of an 'ethernet out' port. We will find these in many conference rooms in this office... soon.
--------
One little known fact (at least to me...); you can use several of these on the same VoIP "extension", provided the phones are only used to "dial out". This is perfect for conference lines! Again... no wonder Vocalocity doesn't want to support these.

Cons Review
Overheated and died . We purchased this SIP adapter a few weeks ago and it just died today. It no longer boots up and will not get past the blinking blue power light. I do not know what caused it to die so suddenly. I have contacted the seller to request a replacement. Seems the quality control on these might not be so good, although I only have a sample size of one unit to base this on. Maybe some other people can share their experiences with the pap2
Buyer Beware . Buyer beware. This equipment does not work properly. I bought a Linksys WAG160N so I could connect a new laptop by wireless. Needing a VoIP phone adapter to work with the modem I called Linksys to ask what I should do. They recommended a Linksys PAP2T adapter which I also bought. 1. The wireless internet connection fails frequently and constantly needs rebooting. I might just as well sit at the wired desktop. 2. The VoIP adapter normally does not work. Linksys tell me there is a known problem between the PAP2T and the WAG160N. It's sad that they didn't tell me this when I asked what to buy. 3. The WAG160N falls over every time I launch my P2P torrent program. Within two minutes the internet fails followed by the DSL line. It has never worked properly. Apparently this is also a known issue with this equipment. I have spent many hours with Linksys help trying to fix these issues, including firmware upgrades and much stuffing around. I have reached the point where I simply want my money back so I can buy other equipment that works.

Feature Linksys PAP2T-NA

  • Unlocked Version Of The Pap2T
  • Use With Any Voip Service Provider
  • Cheaper Than Having The Pap2T Unlocked

FireWire 800 3-Port PCI Card

3 x 9-pin IEEE 1394b - FireWire - Plug-in Card

Excellent Interface board . Absolutely plug and play on a Mac, no problems. Great expansion of FW800 ports, if you use them.
This review is from : FireWire 800 3-Port PCI Card
Good compatability. Very stable. . I've tried the SIIG FireWire 800 3-Port PCIe - FireWire adapter - 3 ports and for some crazy reason I could not get the adapter to work on my system. I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield, on an ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA LGA 775 ATX Mobo, and G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 and the SIIG adapter was quite fussy-I knew the adapter was installed properly as the firewire 400 port worked just fine, but the 800 wouldn't. I was reluctant at first to try another bad adapter, but changing to this belkin was a breeze. Installation was as easy as sticking it into the PCI slot and installing the drivers and just like that I was transferring my data files from my Seagate 1TB internals to my Maxtor 1TB Onetouch externals at blazing 800 speed. It does make a difference in file transfer. So the lesson to be learned is if at first you don't succeed, change to a different brand because it could make all of the difference.
Good Luck
FireWire 800 3-Port PCI Card Reviews
Reasonably faster than USB2 . I use it with a Drobo (gen 2, 4TB partition) on my Vista Home Premium PC, using the driver that WIndows picked for me. It didn't pick up the Drobo the 1st time I plugged it in, but after power cycling the Drobo a couple of time, the card picked it up, not sure if it's Drobo or the card since I don't have any other Firewire 800 device to try with. I'm getting about 23 MB/s write and 30 MB/s reads. These are faster than the speed I got with USB2 using the same Drobo, which are in the teens of MB/s.
FireWire 800 3-Port PCI Card Opinions
Excellent FireWire800 card for High-Performance applications . As a professional photographer and filmmaker, I generate a large amount of digital data during my normal day. A fast, reliable connection between my editing suite and my managed RAID devices is absolutely necessary.

So far, the card has proven reliable connecting to Drobo 4Tb and 8Tb raid arrays, using Windows 7 and the Unibrain driver. I recommend this card for high-capacity and high-throughput applications.

Brian
Needs Unibrain driver . I got this to add Firewire 800 to my 5 year old XP system so I could run some audio software and connect a keyboard and external drive. The Belkin unit uses a TI chipset which is ideal for most audio hardware. Unfortunately, the included factory driver on a CD did not work for me. Researching this problem on the internet, I found the solution to be downloading a free Unibrain driver. Once I loaded it up, the firewire ports started working. My Lacie external drive is slow to recognize the port and asks for a new driver. Be patient and it will resolve itself in a couple of minutes.

Packaging was perfect and delivery a day early. At $[...] for this unit plus some cheap memory I also added, you can avoid buying that new computer a little bit longer and still run most audio apps and hardware.

ADDED 4/6/2010 - After a couple of weeks, it stopped being recognized by my PC. After more research, I replaced it with a 2 port FW 400 card from LaCie which works very well with no problems. Evidently, 3 FW800 ports was too much for my system to handle.
Belkin Firewire 800 Cards . The Belkin Firewire 800 card is an outstanding product however in the specifications and product description it does not explain that the card is not downward compatible to 400 speed without additional cables or firewire 800 drives which are expensive with limited availability. The product as shipped is not a simple plug and play with most firewire 400 configurations. To use the card you must acquire either a conversion cable or a firewire 800 drive.

Cons Review
Does not work with Vista . When reading the minimum system requirements, be careful to review the supported operating systems. Belkin has not yet developed Windows Vista drivers for this card.
Somewhat disappointed . While the installation of the card and software was easy enough, I was never able to get it to properly recognize my Lacie 1Tb external Firewire 800 drive. The problem could lie with the drive -- the Lacie tech said they work with some PCI cards but not all. The real disappointment was that in the process of hooking things up, one of the three ports came loose and disappeared back into the chassis -- a sign of sub-standard workmanship. Probably a good card for the money, and still functional (well, 2/3rds functional)with other firewire/i-link components, but I'm going to have to pay a bit more for a card that will work with my drive (which works fine, albeit much more slowly, on my USB 2 port).
Obviously an item that had been returned. . The card was supposed to include a cable, but did not. It was clearly an item that had been returned and sent out again. The documentation that came with the card, and that available on line, is poor.

Despite that, I would recommend the card because it has the TI IEEE 1394 chipset, which seems to be the best one. But I would not recommend the seller because this was used merchandise passed off as new.
Card Sucks . This card I bought for a Mac G-5 but it does NOT work on a Mac G-5. This was a total waste of my money.

Multimedia Enhanced 300 Mbps Wireless N Gaming Router

This review is from : Multimedia Enhanced 300MBPS Wireless N Gaming Router with Stream Engine Technolo
Gaming Router .. EnGenius ESR 9855G . Use to own only D-Link routers for gaming started having problems with 2 D-link gaming routers DGL 4300 and 4500 both routers were needing to be re-set at least once per day when running W O W or Star Craft on 2 computers and X-Box live on the 360 at the same time the d-links used to handle this type of load well even with changing firmware the d links were having to be re set and lagging and no i was not using 1.20 or 1.21 firmware that d link screwed up the d link 4500 worked great for about 18 months why this problem started may be it was getting worn out. Instead of spending another $200.00 decided to try the newest GAMING ROUTER by EnGenius ESR 9855G... It is not as good looking as the d-links.. Pretty plain in fact it looks rather cheap next to a dgl 4500. but as with most things its whats inside that counts have not had any problems though it has only been 5 days no lag, no re sets, 2 computers, 2 xbox 360s running at the same time all are HARD wired so i dont know about the wireless.. For $100.00 so far it is great will update if any thing changes e-z set up also........Up date 06/06/2010......Router still has not lost connection or needed to be re-set also if you change some of the settings you dont need to re-boot as much like the d-links also be sure to have an internet cable the one from Engenius is a joke its only about 12in at the most
Multimedia Enhanced 300MBPS Wireless N Gaming Router with Stream Engine Technolo Reviews
Engenius ESR9855G Wireless Router . Awesome wireless router. Was a breeze to setup, signal very strong and consistent. Bought one for my business, going to buy another for home soon. Recommend highly
Multimedia Enhanced 300MBPS Wireless N Gaming Router with Stream Engine Technolo Opinions
Solid dependable router with good performance... . I'm not a gamer but was looking for a reliable router to replace my Belkin N+, probably the flakiest router I've ever owned. The EnGenius ESR9855G has fit the bill so far. Setup instructions were easy to follow and I had my network running within five minutes. No problem setting up the wireless connection with my laptop either and I'm getting a top-notch signal. Wireless signal drops a couple of bars from about 40 ft. away but I don't see any noticeable impact on performance when accessing the Internet.

I configured the connection with my 2Wire 1701G DSL modem manually, and let the EnGenius handle the DNS. Setup went without a hitch. The user interface for the router configuration is intuitive and easy to use. Seems to do a better job of accurately identifying network devices than other routers I've used. So far I've been running for 28 days with no reset and no dropped connections with my DSL modem (a constant problem with the Belkin).

Overall, I would highly recommend this router to anyone looking for rock-solid reliability and performance.
It fit the bill for me. . I shopped around and settled on a D-Link DIR-815 N 300 Dual Band Router for a multimedia upgrade router. That's another story of course, but I wouldn't recommend it. So then I turned this one up. I don't know if it has changes but hardware v 1.20.0 has the 100/1000 switches in all connections. I haven't pushed to the limits under test conditions, of course low than advertised overall thru put, but she moves some traffic once you get started. SMA detachable antenna, I upgraded to 9dbi antenna on the receive side only, which is good for a big (not huge) old house with metal pipes and who knows what in the mortar and plaster, as far as coverage. All multi media sources are relatively close to radio source, I wouldn't count really far coverage at N speeds unless it a line of sight or you upgrade the antenna, localize the signal direction, over clock, or whatever. Haven't tried QoS. For multiple higher bandwidth connections, best results are from sustained connections with consistent volumes of traffic over time. Make address filter and firewall seem to work fine, with no real effect on performance. Have to reset it maybe once every few months. The one I got seems pretty solid. At $90 new, it fit the bill and feel I got my money's worth, without a bag of chips. I'm sure there are lemons out there, but give it a shot if you get somewhere with a good return policy.
Great router if you're only using the wired gigabit ports . I was hoping this router was going to provide me with the same level of stability and performance that I had for years with the D-Link DGL-4300. The firmware software is almost exactly the same as the D-Link, I had, which made it seem like it was using the exact same hardware and firmware, only rebranded for their specific brands. I was able to quickly port all my settings over from my older router without much trouble. For about 2 months, I strictly used the wired connections with some hubs and it was humming along fine and fairly stable.

But then, I added some wireless devices to the mix. It was a wireless router after all. I had bridged it with it's cousin, the Engenius ESR-9850, since I had a room that was not wired with an ethernet port.

I wake up one day to find that I had no internet connectivity to my computer, and the first thing I thought was that perhaps my ISP is just out. It had happened once before. I go check the devices, and restarted both my cable modem and the ESR9855G. Everything was working again. The next day it happened again. This time I went to the router firmware webpage, and found that it didn't even load up. This lead me to believe that the router (ESR9855G) was the culprit and I proceeded to turn the ESR9855G off and on. Internet connectivity was back as soon as the router was restarted. My ESR-9850 normally doesn't have any devices on that utilize it much, so at this point, I did not think that the Wi-Fi of the ESR9855G had anything to do with the router seemingly having stability issues. It wasn't until I started using my laptop and doing some VoIP calls. My calls kept dropping while I was connected to the Wi-Fi of the ESR9855G. Every time I drop, the internet is no longer accessible, the router is not accessible either, and I had to resort to restarting the ESR9855G. I was able to consistently break the router while being on the wifi connection. As soon as I switched back to a wired connection for my VoIP call, the router no longer died.

That said, if you're going to use the wireless functionality of this router, I would be weary due to the stability issues I have experienced. I did not change any of the default settings for any of the wireless settings other than setting an SSID, wpa2-personal.

If you're just using the gigabit ports, this router does the job, but there are plenty of cheaper options that can easily do that. The markup for "gaming" is probably not worth it.

Unfortunately, I experienced the stability issues of this device a bit later and now stuck with it. I suppose I have an expensive hub to use when I need one.

Cons Review
Worst router ever . Got this to replace our old reliable Linksys G router. Man this thing goes down every day. Not reliable and is actually slower than the G router I had.
DON'T BUY! READ MY REVIEW . First, the product shipped to me was defective, but I didn't know it until after several hours into attempting to set it up. At the 3rd hour, the left antennae began sagging and then eventually plopped over. Nothing I did could fix this, which is a simple screw in antennae.

Then there was the installation. Aaaaagh! I spent hours trying to set it up according to the manufacturer instructions. But the instructions were wrong! At one point I was told to enter the PIN for the router. I was shown a picture of the router and where to locate the PIN....but guess what? There was no PIN....anyone. I searched every inch of the device and every piece of packing. Nothing.

I've set up routers before...in fact I have an MCSE and computer programming degree. I dug into the hardware through the 192.198.0.1 screen. I tried everything. And of course, like most people I suppose, I took notes on the instruction booklet.

So after all this mess, of course, I needed to return the product. But guess what mistake I made? I bought it from J&R fronting as Amazon. J&R will not take returns...it has to go to the manufacturer. They will not even talk to me.

And according to information I received from J&R and the manufacturer, I cannot return the router because I wrote on some of the materials.

Where's Amazon to protect me now. Why should I be penalized? It's DEFECTIVE. It's also not a very good router and I would not recommend buying it.

I went out today and purchased the Cisco Valet. The installation wasn't flawless, I did need to call their superior support line, but I had everything configured and running within an hour.

Cisco SF 100D-16 Ethernet Switch - 16 Port SD216T-NA Switches & Bridges

This review is from : Cisco SF100D-16 16 Port Ethernet Switch
Very compact switch . This is the smallest 16-port switch I've found. The back panel is completely filled with 2 rows of 8 network jacks. Power jack is in the middle of one side.
No fancy features, but easy to fit in almost anywhere.
Wall mounting consists of a couple of screws and plastic sleeves for the wall, then slots on the bottom of the switch are hooked over the screw heads.
Cisco SF100D-16 16 Port Ethernet Switch Reviews
NO PoE!!!! . I ordered this item and then had some questions about it so I contacted the Manufacturer. This product has PoE listed as a feature which was the major point of buying it for me. However, when I contacted the Manufacturer I was told that not only did the SF 100D-08 16 port not exist (it's a SF 100D-16) it did not have PoE as advertised. They suggested I look into the 300 series (twice the price) I was excited about getting such a great switch for such an awesome price but now I know why. So be warned if you are purchasing this Product IT DOES NOT HAVE PoE!!! Other than that I'm sure it's an awesome switch.
Cisco SF100D-16 16 Port Ethernet Switch Opinions
Simple Ethernet switch works great . I bought this switch to expand my entertainment system ethernet port. Simple- i plugged it into my Ethernet connection and connected three devices (Apple TV, cable box and Sony bluRay player). it worked without setup fiddling.
Cisco SF 100D-05 router . This is a great product when you need more ports. It works great not needing any attention. This is a replacement for the identical one that was damaged by lightning. Good buy.
CIsco SF 100D-05 5 Port hub/switch . We needed addition ports for our small network & our computer guy suggested this one. Nice compact size & so far works great.
Best ethernet switch ever . As I've learned from past experience, if you buy something electronic, buy the best, Cisco is industry standard. The new switch works flawlessly.
Why small business? Use it at home! . I bought this little switch to provide Internet connectivity to the components in my home entertainment center from a single Ethernet cable connected to my router. A Panasonic plasma HDTV, Samsung Blue Ray player and DirecTV HD DVR. I plugged in the cat5 cable from my router, connected up the three home entertainment components, plugged it in to a power strip and it hit the floor running with no hassle whatsoever. It's small, fits hidden behind the other components in my TV stand and quietly does it's job. What else could one ask for? I haven't had it long enough to talk about longevity but if I have any problems with it in the near future I'll provide an update here.

takes a lot of abuse . frequently bounces out of my bag & off desks I use, handles high-temp rooms & conditions...it's made solid, mostly metal rather than cheap plastic, flimsiness like other small switches I've had.
Cisco SF 100D-05 5 Port Desktop 10/100 Switch keeps working . I'm a "road warrior" and I often carry switches in my laptop bag. All this little switch had to do to beat out all the others was just keep working. I bought a bunch of the little LinkSys switches for a temporary IT "war room" at a client's office, and none of them lasted the week. I have a whole pile of dead switches from other brands, too. This little guy's been installed in my office for nearly a year now, and it still works great! Tiny and simple to use, too.
great little switch . excellent for small/home-office, small size, simple, and very reliable since I started using a couple at work & home.

This review is from : Kensington K33933US 4-Port USB Mobile Hub for Netbooks
Works great! . I've always trusted Kensington products, and this one did not disappoint. It simultaneously supports four peripherals (light, mouse, thumb drive, & external HDD) on my Acer AspireOne with no "glitches." This item arrived promptly and is exactly what I expected.
Kensington K33933US 4-Port USB Mobile Hub for Netbooks Reviews
very good product . If you are looking for a non-external-powered compact USB hub (about 3.25 by 1.5 by .5 inches), and the devices you connect to it do not need that sort of power, then this hub is an excellent choice. Besides being compact (the very short USB cord tucks into the device), it has performed flawlessly on my Windows XP system. Only con is the fact that the ports are closely spaced (part of being compact), so wide USB connectors may prevent another port on the 4-port hub from being used.
Kensington K33933US 4-Port USB Mobile Hub for Netbooks Opinions
Small and Efficient . This USB hub works as advertised. A short wire connects the hub to the PC allowing you to easily plug 4 devices into the hub without crowding. That is 4 additional ports, not 3. For traveling, the device is small and nearly weightless. Perfect.
