This review is from : Linksys SPA2100 VoIP Adapter Includes Two FXS Ports + WAN - Unlocked
Arrived as Advertised Using with Broadvoice . Used this to replace a SPA2100 that had a bad power supply and had been dropped a few times. The old one worked on a different power supply but I figured it needed to be replaced before complete failure. The device works perfect with Broadvoice VOIP service. Was also easy to activate the device using Broadvoice's instructions.

Cons Review
End-of-life in 2006 . The SPA2100 was discontinued by in 2006 and firmware is no longer available from Cisco. It would have been helpful to know this before I wasted my time ordering this and trying to set it up only to find that it could lock up under high network load. The version of the firmware I received on the device was a few revisions behind the last release and contained numerous bugs. The SPA-2102 is the current version of the adapter as of 10/2011.

PCI to SATA / IDE (2 SATA / 2 PATA) Combo RAID Controller Card - VT6421L

Manufacturer Part Number: SYBA SY-VIA-150R. Supports hard disk drives larger than 137 GB (48-bits LBA). Supports IDE bus master operation. Supports RAID 0 / 1 / 0+1 and JBOD. Supports Windows 98 / ME / NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP.

This review is from : PCI to SATA / IDE (2 SATA / 2 PATA) Combo RAID Controller Card - VT6421L
Everything worked perfectly . I needed to install a DVD drive on my home computer. Unfortuantely there was no 40 pin reciever on the main board. This SATA card installed without any difficulty whatsoever, and immediately. The instructions for the software, and the purpose for the spare cable could have been made more clear. But once I loaded the software correctly (3rd try), and figured out that I didn't need the cable, everything worked perfectly. I am definitely not an IT person, so any issue that I had would most likely not exist for anyone with intermediate or expert experience.
PCI to SATA / IDE (2 SATA / 2 PATA) Combo RAID Controller Card - VT6421L Reviews
Does the job! . I bought a SATA hard drive and when I opened up my computer case to install it, I discovered that I only had 2 SATA ports on my motherboard, both of which were already being used. I needed a cheap way to add the hard drive to my computer and this did the job. I had no problems installing the card and didn't have to install any additional software with Windows 7. I don't use RAID, so I can't comment on that, but this card does exactly what I needed it to do.
PCI to SATA / IDE (2 SATA / 2 PATA) Combo RAID Controller Card - VT6421L Opinions
Works ... just does the job! . I have an old computer with only PATA drive support on the motherboard. I bought this card so that I could add SATA drives, since replacement PATA drives are smaller capacity and more expensive. It works well, and since I installed it, I have not had any problems. I anticipate that if I change motherboards on my computer, I can migrate this board to the new system. Since current motherboards don't support PATA hard drives, I can use this card to continue to use my older PATA drives! I don't intend to use the RAID function, so cannot comment on that aspect.

Utilitarian product, works, does the job it was intended for ... what more can you say. If you have a need to support PATA and SATA drives in the same computer system, this is a worthwhile product. The price is also reasonable.

Cons Review
pci raid card . this card only supports SATA raid per the instrcution.
i need a PATA raid instead... quite disappointed when i get this item
it was not written on the description... wasted my bucks

Ultra WinCleaner Anti-Virus protects your PC against all viruses transmitted through the Internet and e-mail, and against hostile Internet downloads, hackers, viruses lurking in compressed files, shared files, floppy disks, CD-ROMS, hard disks, and networks. Ultra WinCleaner Anti-Virus is up-to-date protection for today's generation of viruses.

This review is from : Ultra WinCleaner Anti-Virus 2003
It is a good anti-virus program . I just bought this a few days ago, and can say it is very good. It only takes a few minutes to install (like 5) and it scans really fast. Before I used this I used vexira anti-virus, which was ok, but this one gets updates to you easier and has virus definitions more often, to keep you up to date. I haven't needed it yet, but phone support is free (except long distance). It has an easy interface, and can even cure your pc of viruses that overwrite the boot sector (make it so you cant start up windows). I would reccomend this to anyone who needs an antivirus scanner for less of the cost and just as much ease of use and functions as the other more expensive ones.

Cons Review
watch out with xp !! . This antivirus does not work well with windows xp. After downloading windows service pack 1 scanning slowed to a crawl half way thru and caused a major power drain on my system. Also causes banging and clanging of hard drive on disc defragmenter and causes slowdown problems at shutdown. I removed it from my computer and switched to Safeworld anti-virus and have no problems at all..

Serial ATA (SATA) is the latest form of computer connectivity, featuring faster transfer speeds, easier configuration, and the ability to hot swap drives.  With the Vantec SATA/eSATA PCI Host Controller, you can add the features and functionality of eSATA to your computer.  By providing an internal SATA port, the PCI Host Card offers the expandability to add a hard drive to you system.  With the external SATA port, both the PCI Host Card gives the flexibility of adding a high speed connection to an external hard drive.  Traditionally, one would use USB 2.0 to connect to external hard drives.  While USB 2.0 offers reasonably fast speeds at 480Mbps, SATA transfers at a speed of up to 1,500Mbps!  Take advantage of SATA on your computer with the Vantec SATA/eSATA PCI Host Card.

This review is from : Vantec UGT-ST300 2-Port eSATA II-150 PCI Host Card
Brings SATA to PCI . This has one internal SATA socket and one external ESATA socket. It runs at 1.5 Gbps maximum (compared to 3 Gbps for some motherboard interfaces). Still, that's 3X of USB2 and 2X of Firewire 800.

I bought an ULTRA external enclosure that had ESATA and it worked so well that I decided to get this interface card for my old PC.

I'm pleased with it.
Vantec UGT-ST300 2-Port eSATA II-150 PCI Host Card Reviews
works great with Sun Solaris . I bought 2 of these cards to add eSata to a Sun X4100 server I use at home. The slots in the Sun box only support the short height cards, so these just fit using the shorter brackets that come with them. I added a pair of Lacie 1 TB eSata drives and created a ZFS mirror for full redundancy of controllers and drives. I've been running Solaris 10 x86 (10/2008) with no problems for about 4 months now.
Update: July 2011. Cards still working great in the same server, running 24/7 for over 2 years now.
Vantec UGT-ST300 2-Port eSATA II-150 PCI Host Card Opinions
Works perfectly . I first tried the Cables Unlimited card in the PCIe x 1 slot on the motherboard, but my Dell E510 with XP SP3 and a Pentium 4 froze on start up. I almost gave up but decided to look some more. The instructions with the Vantec card were much better and it uses the normal PCI slot. I was dreading start up, but it continued like a charm!!! If you are looking to add an internal SATA and external eSata capability to your computer, this is the way to go.
Slightly Complicated? . It works well with the Asus (VIA chipset) motherboard I happen to be using. Recognize, it's already an antique piece of equipment? But it allowed me to add a "SATA" Blu-Ray drive to this system. So far, so good.Plays Blu-Ray discs without a "hiccup", at DMA-6. Might just order something newer from Vantec, see how many working "SATA" ports I can get on this computer? I only needed ONE, and this card did it!
Plugged Right In On A Dell E510 . Had no problem. Only one slot open. PCI. Plugged right in and was recognized by the motherboard without a problem. Am running Vista Ultimate on one harddrive and Windows 7 on another...have had no problem with either and I'm running a blu-ray player on it internally. Good card. Good Price.
eSATA PCI Host Card . This PCI card works great! After installing the card and the included driver and plugging in the eSATA cable, my external hard drive communicated without a hitch. The only minor issue with the card is the placement of the external eSATA port is slightly closer to one side of the bracket than the other side, so it was not easy to plug the cable in all the way. However, it still worked fine.
eSATA Cuts Backup Time to External HD by Half . I do my backups to an external hard disk, and found an eSATA model for the same price as the USB models. I installed the Vantec card - it takes about a minute if you have a spare slot - and installed the drivers, which will require a reboot. Total time, less than 5 minutes, and after I plugged in the HD, it was instantly recognized and worked flawlessly. I tried backups to this drive using both eSATA and USB, and the eSATA times were less than half the USB times. The Vantec also has an internal eSATA connector, but I don't need that and haven't tested it, but wouldn't anticipate any problems. Easy, cheap, fast, what's not to like? Highly recommended.
NOT hot-swap on 03 server . have 3 of these... none are hot-swap in 2003 server (or sbs2003), but they do work. there is a rosewill sold cheaper that is EXACTLY the same card.

Cons Review
amazing Amazon return policies . Did not work on older Intel ATX board. Documentation and mfg. web site was of little value.

Earned 2 Star rating even though it did not work due to amazing Amazon return policies and procedures. I have been purchasing my electronics through NewEgg and Amazon is much, much better with returns.
Buggy but good performance . Had trouble booting and tech support was no help. The trouble continued to happen intermittently until I replaced it with LaCie 130823 eSATA PCI Card Design by Sismo. The problems went away immediately.

Cisco SG 100-24 Ethernet Switch - 24 Port SR2024T-NA Switches & Bridges

This review is from : Cisco SR2024T 24 port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch
Solid switch that was worth paying the money for . I recently upgraded my home network from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps ethernet. My network is rather large and has a large number of AV devices on it as well as computers, servers, and several video game consoles. I use Crestron throughout my house to control A/V, HVAC, and other things which can be network intensive. Prior to installing this switch my installers tried to go with a lower budget option. We had several issues and device lockups. Fortunately, I was able to quickly ascertain that our "low budget" switch was the issue. I ordered this switch from Amazon and swapped it in and have had absolutely NO problems since even under very heavy load. It makes absolutely NO sense to buy a cheap switch unless you do not value your system integrity or your time. I absolutely recommend this product and am very happy with it.
Cisco SR2024T 24 port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch Reviews
nice! . i got this switch for a small office i am setting up. in this gigabit era, it makes sense to spend a little more for a gigabit switch. files are only going to get bigger, so you need something that can keep up. the price wasn't bad at all...imo. the switch works fine....did a few tests with it and all ports are working at gigabit speeds. will buy again if i see the need to...or the upgraded version...if one exists.
Cisco SR2024T 24 port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch Opinions
Excellent - fanless design! . I took a gamble on this (with no reviews) on name brand alone. I needed a switch for my home network (I have a tap in every room) and I was going to move all of my computer gear to the basement in a 2 post rack to save space. I previously had a TrendNet 16 port switch and I HATED it because of the unbearable fan noise. This unit is the polar opposite - it has NO FAN! Doesn't seem to get more than warm even with out one. Despite it being a bit more than other competing switches, the lack of fans makes this a winner in my book!
Great switch but needs restarted once in awhile . I love the switch. It has been a great item. This is the third I have bought, but I have noticed that once every three or four months, I have to restart the switches. They seem to just lose connection. Mostly at night.. I have them in a apc ups to make sure they keep working. But the speed is great. The connection is perfect. If I have to order any more, I may buy another just cause they just seem to work.
Easy fast out of the box . Just what I wanted. A capable gigabit switch that works right out of the box. No need to read directions. Just unplug the old... plug in the new. Excellent product.
Excellent Product . I was able to install this nice Cisco switch very simply. LEDs light up for each connection in use and it provides speedy connections. We're delighted that we purchased it.
good switch . Plugged up the new switch after idling all else, lite it off and no surprises, worked out of the box. Purchased this to get the advantage of QOS and 1GB speed from network to router/modem/net. Next phase, 1GB NIC cards on pc's. The switch is lightning fast and managed our somewhat complex network with ease. Used Amazon for two reasons, free shipping to Hawaii and because in past returns were expedited and simple.
Solid product with quick and easy setup . The Cisco SR2024T 24 port Gigabit switch is an excellent product. It was packaged well, included extra screws, and, most importantly, it WORKS. If you are in the market for an unmanaged switch this is a great choice.

Cisco SG200-18 Ethernet Switch - 18 Port - 2 Slot SLM2016T-NA Switches & Bridges

This review is from : Sg 200-18 18-PORT Gigabit
Great small full feature GBe Switch . Purchased this to replace a less than reliable Netgear switch. This small, sturdy switch is a great companion to my ASA. It has POE input so you can bypass the AC Adapter, however, it does not supply POE to end devices. You need the SG200-08P (@ twice the price) for full POE functionality. I should have paid more attention but it will do for now.
Sg 200-18 18-PORT Gigabit Reviews
First network device I ever bought that worked out of the box with no drama! . Maybe it's me (I am no network expert) but it seems every time I do anything with the network it's always a big deal. Things don't work, you have to go thru page after page of the manual, calls to the tech support line to be on hold for an hour and then 3 calls later it's still not working.... You get the idea: Me and networks just don't play together well. BUT NOT WITH THIS SWITCH! PLUG IT IN AND IT WORKS!I mean this was as plug and play as it gets. I just pugged in my modem/router (2Wire provided by my ISP) into the ACT/Link port and then started plugging in computers, printers and other devices into the switch. Boom, in a few seconds, the network was done. Everything worked and every computer had internet access instantly and I could print to any printer w/o any issue (had to load printer drivers on a few computers that previously did not have access to one of the printers.) The only issue I had was not really an issue because I anticipated it. The 2wire modem/router uses the default ip of 192.168.1.254 as does this switch. So I went to that IP to see which would come up (if anything). The 2wire came up. I went to the table of IPs on the 2Wire and saw the new IP the 2Wire had assigned to this switch. I went to that IP and up came the Cisco interface. I logged in, changed my username and password and logged out. I haven't been into ether the 2Wire or Cisco switch since, and it all just keep working. I know these are expensive compared to the normal home router/switch/hub, but the ease of use is so much worth it. :)Highly recommended and we'll be back to buy more.
Sg 200-18 18-PORT Gigabit Opinions
Great and Inexpensive but feature packed Switch . Background: I was needing 802.3ad/LACP to aggregate ethernet ports from my main server and alleviate that bottleneck. After trying different load balancing options (TLB/ALB) on my old Dlink, I decided it wasn't worth the headache and started looking for something that properly did Link Aggregation.I was looking at a similar Trendnet when I found this one from Cisco, looked at the reviews of both, and got the SG200-26. Had a couple of issues with LACP initially, but flashed the firmware to the latest and everything just works like a charm now. I'm very happy with it, and my main server has a 4Gb link now. I then bought a SG200-8 for an area that didn't get enough network drops, and setup a 2Gb link to it and fixed that bandwidth issue as well. I haven't gotten around to any QoS and VLAN settings yet, as that wasn't what I needed the switch for, but I'll probably use that in the future.
Excellent Switch - Right out of the box . I have tested this switch with an eye to controlling broadcast/multicast storms from a looped cable (our users do this all the time) followed by a power cycling on the switch. Out of the box this small switch handled this with ease. Besides all the features you may or may not use you have the option of using PoE to power this switch. If you do use PoE you won't have the AC power adapter and cord to deal with on or under your desk.
I've test quite a few other manufacturers small switches (NetGear, Dell, etc) and they don't compare. I even had one switch go backwards on features in their Version 2 "improved" version (no longer could be configured to control a broadcast/multicast storm after being power cycled). This switch is a great choice.
Great Price . I owned this Cisco Router for only 3 days, and so far it has met most of my expectations. The ability to control ports and name them made organization much simple. So instead of having little stickies on the wire. Now you can tell which box it is connected to right through the Web UI.

Configuration out of the box was a little retarded. Most router/switch I dealt with before once you save your preference, unplugging it would not mean resetting to factory. The switch requires you to save different profile of preferences, There is a loading preference, there is a running preference, and there is a start up preference. I guess I never had a managed or smart switch before, these might be a norm.

Beyond the Web UI, this is pretty much your regular switch that requires no extra configuration. Plug a wire in and expect it to work. In my case that is not quite true. With one of my windows 7 box, there was some funky things where the port would constantly reset until I put it on Auto-Negotiation.

This box is actually a 26 port switch. The two side port can be used as regular or uplink ports.
Incredible switch for the money! . I am a Cisco professional and work with many of Cisco Systems Enterprise level equipment and have been for almost 10 years now! This switch is a full featured layer 2 switch and having worked with many of Cisco's layer 2 devices, I cant seem to find any feature that isn't on here that you would find on there enterprise level switches costing from several thousand to over ten thousand other than port-density! And getting it for $105 after rebate, I bought (2) of them!

Top Features:

1. Full QoS - MQC
2. Full SNMP
3. Ether-channel
4. Dot1Q Trunks
5. Port-Security

If you are a cisco guy, you will understand a little better but its a great value for the money!

This review is from : StarTech.com SATDOCK4U3E 4 Bay eSATA USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5/3.5 HDD
Excellent product . I saw several complaints about this device before I purchased it, but I decided to go for it anyway. It turned out to be a very good choice. I was continually swapping multiple 500GB to 2TB hard drives in a single dock. This device lets me to put my 4 most frequently used drives into a single unit allowing immediate access to the data therein. I didn't believe the problems reported by others that it requires restarting of all drives (or the computer) after swapping a single drive in the unit and I have not encountered any problems whatsoever when swapping drives in this docking station. As long as you remember to offline the drive before powering it down & replacing it, it works exactly as it should. But then again, I am also using a StarTech dual-port eSATA controller that I bought with this unit as well, so that may be making a difference, too. Since I still need to swap drives and my second eSATA port is only hosting a single-bay toaster, I will probably be getting another one of these to allow still fewer swaps.
StarTech.com SATDOCK4U3E 4 Bay eSATA USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5/3.5 HDD Reviews
Great device my was poorly built . The specification are perfectly accurate. The two internal fans on mine rattled badly to the point it was too loud and annoying to leave it running full-time. The manual says it discounts with dismounting and mounting drives. I did not experience any of that on either the eSATA or the USB 3.0.

Cons Review
USB 3.0 Screams . Updated 4/21/2011 -1 star: These things have major problems and need to go back into the oven for a few months to get them sorted out. Getting these things to connect requires turning off one of the four drives, waiting a few seconds then turning it back on. Anytime your computer is restarted or goes to sleep, you get to do it again.

Also, if you're trying to move something to another drive and also want to do something else while the move operation is taking place, the second command will freeze. To put this in practical terms, you can't listen to an mp3 and move a file at the same time without the mp3 skipping. Given how fast this interface is, i can not comprehend how this happens.

Updated 3/14/2011 -2 stars: Well the honeymoon has started to wear off a little. Here's the deal: The firmware is clearly immature. The drives don't seem to be able to operate independently of each other within the bay. For instance, if you turn any one of the four drives off, then the entire array resets and all the drives disconnect and reconnect with windows instead of just one.

The disconnect/reconnect process wouldn't be so bad except that the drives don't reconnect well at all, and instead keep trying to connect over and over and each time they do, you can hear the clicking as the drives start/stop, start/stop. Sometimes the drives will never reconnect and you'll have to turn them each off and back on manually, in order to restart the connect process--which will hopefully work this time.

This kind of start/stop stress is disastrous for hard drives as the continuous on and off process will shorten the drives life considerably. I can't think of a worse flaw for a drive bay to have.

Finally, if you happen to restart windows or turn off your computer on a regular basis, do not get one of these because doing so just starts the continuous on/off process again which may continue indefinitely until you intervene (at which point the mechanical parts of the drive might already be dead from over stress.)

Recommendation: Until they improve the firmware and fix the windows connectivity issues, i'd stay away.

Pros:
Extremely fast transfer speeds.
Holds four drives and only uses one usb 3.0 connection.

Cons:
The fans don't seem to do much, if anything. I can't even tell if they're on or not.
The drives won't seem to turn off so they are always running and always hot regardless of your windows power settings. I'm assuming this is a USB 3.0 thing and not the drive bay itself, so hopefully this will be fixed with a windows update.

I have 8 external 7200rpm hard drives all using USB 2.0 and the transfer speeds when moving files from one drive to another averaged a meager 15 - 30MBs. After plugging four of them into this USB docking bay, the transfer speeds increased to 45 - 85MBs (using usb 3.0). (Note these are video files i'm talking about here)

After five minutes of playing around with this thing, and seeing the massive increase in transfer speed, i got on amazon and ordered another one overnight delivery for my other four drives.

Cannot recommend this enough if you have some vacant USB 3.0 ports. USB 3.0 is the next level. Once you use it, you'll never want to go back.
Mounted Drive(s) disconnect(s) "constantly" . I had to RMA it. The mounted HDs appeared/disappeared in Windows after a couple of minutes. I tried different USB 3.0 adapters, different drives, only one drive - in different slots, USB 2.0, contacted support, etc. Finally, I gave up and RMAed it. Wait a couple of months until STARTECH figured it out.
