Perfect Alternative for Running Wires! . These are the perfect alternative to running CAT5e cables throughout your house, or working in wireless dead zones. Very easy to setup! Just plug in, push a button, and your connection is there and encrypted. Only reason I didn't give these 5 stars was because they do cover the second outlet on a typical home 2 plug wall outlet. While you can plug something into these devices, it's a little irritating that the second outlet cannot also be used. Otherwise excellent product from TRENDnet.

Cons Review
Not recommend . I won't recommend this product.
I got the TPL-304E, installed in my 2 years old townhouse. If the two adapters are in the same room (different outlet), the transmit speed is rated around 140Mbps. However, if I move one to the second floor, the speed drops to <50mbps. Worse than my wireless N router. This is acceptable if no other issues.
Pros: The setup is very simple, plug in, press the sync button, and it works.
Cons: But beware of the password issue. There is a 16-digit password printed on the back of adapter. The password is required to setup the network security. It did not work. I tried >100 times and all kinds of combination, every time I got the "password is invalid" message. This password is the "permanent password" attached to each of the adapter. You will need it if you want to set a security password and decide which adapter can access the network. Called trendnet, they can do nothing about it. By talking to them, I got a feeling this problem is very common. The permanent password is generated by manufacture and cannot be changed by reset. And if it is wrong, you are out of luck, the manufacture (trendnet) doesn't have any record of what is the correct one even if I provide the S/N.
Also I highly recommend using Netgear's powerline adapter software instead of the one provided by TrendNet. The trendnet software is very poor and has almost nothing you can tweak.
Last thing: have been using the powerline for last 3 days and had encountered once the network breakdown. I have to unplug and replug the adapter to re-establish the connection.
