Perfect Wifi Adapter if you want to be able to leave it in place . Perfect Wifi Adapter if you want to be able to leave it in place, if you are not going to be far from an access point this little adapter works great. I have 4 of them. two are on laptops that did not have good wifi cards and 2 are on PCs in the house I didn't want to run cable to. GREAT little device. Watch when buying them though. Some placed show a small price but a HIGH shipping cost. It would not be so bad if that was the same cost for multiple ones of these but when you have something this small and you buy 5 of them (with some sellers) you can find yourself paying over $30 to ship one tiny little box.

It's not just for Verizon! . As advertised, it works with any broadband source. I dropped it into a Comcast-fed home network when the wall-wart died for my router. No setup necessary, and the wireless signal strength is better than the old router.

Works great a true bargain . I bought this item from Verizon on a promotion, just to have as a backup. Three weeks ago, my 8 year old router died and I plugged in the 7501. It puts out a great 802.11g signal (even with no external antenna) and solved reception problems around the house I'd struggled with for years. Works better in my place than the inexpensive, big-name manufacturer's router Comcast sells. Lots of geeky features for the tech-savvy. Easy to set up and use if you're mildly conversant with with WiFi. Enjoy!

Verizon Westell 7501 Wireless-G Broadband Router Opinions
Very solid router with good value but very technical setup . This router can be had for 10 bucks from verizon. What I noticed about this router is that it just is very solid meaning it doesn't drop connections so you don't need to reset or unplug your router every month or so with other routers. This in my opinion makes this a very good router even if it doesn't have the features of more expensive routers.

If your old router is crapping out, then don't hesitate to get this router if you want to save money and have the discipline to read the manual and fiddle a little bit . Took me about 30 minutes to fiddle with settings (manual is 130 pages lol) and I was able to get on my ATT dsl line. Just remember turn on wireless security to WPA 2, set wireless broadcast to G only (nobody uses B anymore) and also to turn on the router firewall (to "low" if you need to foward a port, medium if you don't know what I am talking about).

There is a also a usb port or you can connect your wireless printer to it with a little hack if you want (just google it). Very very pleasantly surprised.

Great router . It really worth the price. You only need to open the box and connect it to your modem. No need to install.

Router Installation Was "Plug-and-Play" for Me! . I just purchased this one from Amazon when my 3 1/2 year-old d-link router recently died. After reading one review, I expected the installation to be a bit-more involved, but it was truly a "snap" - no software or lengthy installation process. The router comes with a simple, easy-to-understand 15-page "Let's Get Started" booklet which explains and illustrates the entire installation process. (There's a CD with the full User's Guide also included, but I didn't need it to install and get up and running). The installation took all of 2 minutes: 1. white cable connects dsl modem to the WAN connection on the back of the router; 2. yellow cable from ethernet jack on back of PC to ethernet jack ("E1") on the back of the router; 3. small end of power cord into jack on back of router and plug it into ups power supply; and 4. press the power switch on the back of the router. THAT WAS IT!!! (It almost took longer for me to type these instructions than it did to actually perform the steps.) Turn PC on; boot up; check email; and now I'm typing this review. Wireless networking the laptop did require referring to the User's Manual CD, but the steps are clear and simple, and I had no problems there. It couldn't have been easier, and I couldn't be more pleased. I bought it for less than half of its current listing, so you may want to wait for a "sale," but I think it's a good choice even at the price now being offered. Highly recommended!

Super Easy! . After struggling with a Netgear wireless router for 4 years, (constantly rebooting, losing connections), I decided to try Verizon's Westell Wireless Router. In the period of half hour, I had the computer, a printer and my laptop loaded on and in service. I am JOYOUS about this product! Easy and efficient!

Great router! . I actually didn't buy this item from Amazon, but from a very good deal on Verizon's website a few weeks ago! I just set this up in my USC apartment and I am VERY PLEASED with the results. Wireless strength is excellent and the hard line works as expected. Set up was a breeze.

Works great USB Printing disk sharing and media server can be added... . 1. It will work with virtually any internet service provider - definitely not locked to Verizon!

2. Has been hacked to unlock USB printing, Basic USB disk sharing, media server, and a few more goodies. See [...] for details. No, it won't run Tomato or DD-WRT, but for $10 and whatever spare USB drive you have sitting around, it it pretty good. Very stable.

3. Has decent range, I get range on it equal to that of my $95 ASUS RT-N16 router (granted the verizon 7501 is only G, not N) Not bad for the money.

Nice router . This router works perfectly at my home. I use it to replace my previous DLink router which had low signal issue for a long time.
This one is easy to set up and I am having a much better signal around every corner of my house.

Works perfectly no problems at all . I got this to use with my Wireless Digital Headset. It hooked up perfectly and I've had no problems at all. I like that I don't have to tune in to it, my headset picks it up automatically. The sound it's sending to my headset is crystal clear. The only reason I give this 4 out of 5 stars is that I'm not happy that the receiver is separate from the headset.

Cons Review

Do not buy. Terrible experience. . Take my warning: stay away from this product, as well as the AW920 speaker.

The problem was that we were getting very loud interference intermittently on our speaker and it would only go away if you powered off the hub and powered it back on. Major hassle for us; startling noise for our backyard guests. I called the manufacturer, Thomson Inc, to find out why this was happening, but there's ABSOLUTELY NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT available.
Instead, I got a non-responsive agent telling me nothing more than to send it in under the warranty for replacement. I then asked to speak to a manager because I was very unhappy with the customer service, and she told me that there was no one else I could speak to. Unbelievable.

Do not buy - look elsewhere.

Nice Product . When I researched wireless routers I had a choice between this product and the native product from Verizon. I chose this product for a number of reasons: I could keep my old wireless modem, I could buy a second battery which I did, and it allowed up to 16 connections instead of the five. So far I haven't been disappointed with the product, the setup was very easy on my macbook and the range is very good. I use an Airport express associated with my home routers for streaming iTunes and printer data, I set this router up the same way. I didn't try printing yet but I think it will work without a problem, however so far I am not able to stream iTunes through it. It plays for a couple of seconds and then stops, I think the buffers are being overrun. There are some parameters but I haven't made the time to see if they can be adjusted enough to get the streaming to work - it just may be too much for such a small router. We have two macbrook pros, two airport express routers and an iPod Touch and all work great. I haven't spent much time on the road with the router yet but I don't expect it to perform any better than the native router does on Verizon's network. I am going to be very interested to see if and how fast the router resets when the connection drops.
By the way the router easily fits into a pocket but with the modem attached it becomes awkward so you need some place to carry it.

A good all round device with some good features like WPA2, the user interface is a little clunky so you do need some understanding of what all the settings mean, I wouldn't expect my Mom to be able to set one up securely. I found changing your USB 3G device settings to auto is a help when establishing a connection. Over all this device will make using devices like the iPad wifi only model a good option for travel. 4 out of 5.

Awsome! . I bought this so that I did not have to sign up for a new contract for my new iPad. I bought the iPad with just WiFi and not the 3G. I then hooked this up to my USB AirCard from AT&T and it works awsome! Now when I am in the airport without wifi, I just turn on the box and both my computer and iPad pick it up. Well worth it if you are contimplating signing another contract (minimum 2 years) on another device with internal wifi card.

Clickfree Does what it says but watch out for software conflicts. . I did a lot of reasearch before purchasing a portable backup drive. Clickfree met my needs as I have multiple PCs that needed to be backed up. Be advised that it does not back up the operating system. It is very easy to use and, for the most part is automatic. I did have a problem on one PC that had Nero Essentials 8 installed on it. At the time, I did not know what the problem was. The tech person was knowledgeable and thought it was an issue with an underpowered USB port. The company sent me a free 5v USB powered adaptor to address the issue - but it turned out to be a conflict with the Nero 8 Essentials software package. It did take them a couple weeks to get the adapter to me - but my persistance in contacting them ultimately paid off. Once I uninstalled the conflicting software, the product performed as advertised. I am not sure if I will be able to re-install the Nero 8 software and use both products, or not.

Simple fast and solid . This product sets up very quickly and backs up automatically. I use it on two separate computers (Windows XP & Windows 7) and it works like a champ every time. Your folder structure is retained in the backup copy so you can navigate them on there. I thankfully haven't had to restore any files but it shouldn't be a problem if it is anything like the other functions that I have used. Definitely better than advertised!

A Godsend!!! . My computer sits in a wooden cubby hole in my desk with it's back against a wall. I was using a wireless PCI card (with its own moveable antenna) and I was experiencing constant fluctuations in signal strength from no signal on some days up to 70% on others. Most of the time it was very low and there were many days of 0 - 20% signal at most. I can't even use the internet if the signal is below 20%. I found that sometimes if I angled my computer so the card wasn't right up against the wall and if I fiddled with the antenna I could sometimes maintain a decent signal. I would also find that if I moved myself either closer or further away, or to the left or to the right or if I leaned my body in just the right way I could get a slightly better signal. It has been such a trial with that PCI card! Well, no more fiddling, no more shuffling back and forth and no more leaning in awkward positions. This card has performed a miracle! I placed it on my desk so it sits out in the open. The driver and utility set up was so fast and easy in Windows 98 and it immediately found the wireless signal and connected me. And here's the best part - 100% SIGNAL STRENGTH!!! It is only a few feet from where my internal wireless card used to be, but oh what a difference! This card is inexpensive, easy to set up and works great! If you are having poor connections with an internal wireless card, I strongly suggest you give this external one a try.

Quick easy portable fast great range it's perfect! . Though only a 802.11b, this little USB wireless adapter is the best out there. I spend about $35 for it 1/2 year ago, and basically bought it without any prior reviews information. Lucky me, this lightweight, portable USB adapter works like a charm. Install the drivers in XP after it's plugged in, and you're up and running.

Even has Linux drivers and support! (I haven't tried this yet though).

This is the best thing you can buy for under $50. Great for laptops too!

Pretty good . Only problem I have with this is when coming out of hibernation it often needs to be unplugged and plugged in again in order for it to aquire. Otherwise quite happy with it.

Great product great range great price . Even though instructions say that product is plug n play with windows xp, you still need to install usb xp drivers from the included disk. This took me about 5 minutes to figure out and setup. I was surfing the net wirelessly from another room in no time. Range is better than the average wireless card (802.11b).

Work fine. Installing the drive is a hassle. . Work fine. Drop connection on the occasion. Just don't like the fact that I need to install the driver since it's not automatically recognized by Windows XP. Don't loose the driver CD.

Great Product . Worked like a charm. Plug and play worked with my xp system. Didn't even have to install the software that came with the adapter. XP recognized it and then I set up the 128 bit password I'm using with my access point and started using it. Very small product so it takes up very little room on your desk.

Not bad for the price . Ok, so I orderd this, it came right on time. I installed it, used the compatability wizard in Windows XP, so the software will work, but then had to un-install SP1 because the BSSID changes every couple of seconds. The range is ok, but if you are on a budgit, this is relly good.

Cons Review

This thing really sucks . Bought this one because it's cheap, then the price really tells the story. It took me whole 2 hours trying to figure out the stupid Config. utilities, still wouldn't connect with my Netgear router. Changed to a netgear adaptor, up and running in 5 minutes. In the process of returning this useless toy.
