Once you find the driver it works well . I chose this product because it listed my Lenovo laptop model specifically, and wasn't the cheapest product with this capability. Oddly I can't see that there's something specific with what they sent me, but it works fine.I marked the product down a star because it was harder to install than it should be. Windows XP couldn't automatically find the driver during its normal hardware installation routine, even when the CD was mounted. I had to figure out this device used an NEC chipset (Googling) and then guessed I wanted the NEC USB drivers hiding in folders on the CD. Once I selected those for the installer it worked.There are two USB ports which can be used for V2 or V3 devices, though if you connect V2 devices it will hold the speed down on both ports. To get V3 speeds only connect V3 devices.To test performance I connected two LaCie 2TB minimus drives to it on a Lenovo T61 and copied 25GB of files to them singly and simultaneously from a very fast NAS device over a gigabit network. Both drives ran at about 25MB/sec whether one or both were connected and copying files, so the adapter can flow at least 50MB/sec total. This is far faster than V2 can go. In fact, I found that the speed of these drives on this adapter exceeded the speed of the internal computer drive. For laptop applications, adding external USB V3 drives on this adapter will most likely provide greater disk speed than the internal disk. I've noticed that I need to dismount and remount this USB hub (using the "safely remove hardware" icon) sometimes when connecting drives, else the drives don't want to connect.
