UBDo-nt provides users to launch IEEE 802.11n wireless network at 150Mbps in the 2.4GHz frequency, which is also compatible with IEEE 802.11g and 802.11b wireless devices at 54Mbps / 11Mbps. Works as advertized not quite as hoped. . Appearance - Good looking compact unit with fittings and exceptionally long USB cable (about 12') ****
Condition - Arrived damaged - the unit rattled and the connector to fix the USB to had fallen inside. These issues were fixed by a local repair man after the seller authorized opening without voiding warranty. **
Ease of set up - On Windows 7 it was plug and play - we used the CD on an older machine, both were simple and found the unit quickly and easily. *****
Signal strength - Definately line of sight - but almost on an if you can see it, you can use it. Effectively we'd say about a mile in marina settings to close to 2 miles, maybe slightly more across open sea. As a set difference, with the onboard PC WIFI, one signal recieved, with this unit (in a 3rd world country) 9 useable signals recieved. ****
Software - Simple, graphic, easy to understand - just runs in the background, on top, or shut it down and use Windows. *****
Drop Outs - Zero to date (in 5 days) versus 10 - 12 an hour with the onboard (laptop builtin) cards.

Complete Network Wireless Adapter (works great) . If you are trying to pick up a wireless signal, this device works extremely well. If you are getting a weak signal with your internal wireless adapter this device will help you to boost your reception. It comes complete with all that you will need to connect, mounting brackets and the USB interface cable are all included. I did not mount mine, I could however as it comes with the brackets as I had stated earlier. My signal works great just turning and pointing it in the direction that the signal is coming from. The device is very light as well, if you have a laptop and you move around alot, (I travel and use hotels alot) you can take this with you and boost the signal that you are getting to assure maximum bandwidth. I have done this, it works brilliantly! I woudl however suggest one thing, if you are savvy enough, disable your internal adapter when you use this device. It will work with the other adapter on, I suggest this only to avoid confusion with the other adapter. There are many other options as well, you can use this to actully Transmit and or act as an access point yourself. This can be achieved by having an internet connection active on either the Ethernet cable or the internal wireless adapter. Next you can set up the Alfa adapter for an Access point, it will allow you to easily setup the access point with an Network ID and encryption (if desired). I reccomend this device to anyone with the need to boost a signal and also the bandwidth that is available for maximum throughput. CJWII

What a great product! . I bought this wifi antenna because at the marine I live at the wifi signal was poor. Im now getting excellent signal. Im also seeing other connections that I never saw before. I made a sunbrella cover for it so the Sun wouldnt damage it.[...]

The best 802.11 adapter money can buy . This has to be the best commercially available 802.11 adapter on the market today. It's water resistant with 2 watts of power and a 12 DBI antenna. What other wireless adapter on the market today for less than 100 dollars can make those claims? It doesn't get any better than that. Pair this with an 802.11N MIMO hub and you're going to be able to achieve 3/4mile+ LOS connections. Maybe even further. I have left mine outside for almost six months now with no problems to this day even in freezing temperatures, high humidity, high wind, ... everything. My only complaints about this item is that i could not get it to work on OSX and it does not have an external antenna connection.
as good as it gets . works so well.better than i hoped.i use it in a home and i now pick up about 25-30 wifi signals all strong where as before i might get only 4-5 weak signals.get this one
No complaints . I bought this after using an Alfa 1 watt booster for 2 months. Although it worked fine, I found that I was able to mount an external antenna/ booster on a rental unit so I bought this one. The peformance increased from 75% to 100%.
Most amazing . As a licensed ham for over 40 years I am more than just a little familiar with antennas and radio transmission systems. I can say that this unit has exceeded my expectations for signal acquisition and throughput, not to mention a simple thing called distance, which is easily shortened using this kind of technology. BTW, I am using PCLOS Linux v2010.12 and it is a 'slam dunk' for ease of use. Now I can download the latest distros with ease.
The integral panel antenna is entirely adequate for reliable weatherized net communications, the USB interface is simplicity only imagined, and the radiated power is intimidating. Am I happy... OH YEA! Alfa is going into the 'watchful eye' category for future engineering marvels. Thanks Alfa!

Wifi yes but wireless? . This item allowed me to get the wifi signal from the club house in our trailer parc with my antenna installed on my roof. It needs to be physically connected to the pc. Does anyone here know how to make the pc wireless, in other words, make it able to walk around the house without the cable connected to the portable? I thought of using a router, the ones that I found do not have a USB input connection?
Alfa 2000mw wifi waterproof marine antenna . We recently moved our 31 foot sailboat to the Port of Everett,Washington marina, a beautiful facility. The Marina recently had added free WIFI for boat moorage tenants. It is a huge complex. I was unable to get adequate signal strength for good reception on my wireless laptop on my boat. One Marina staff member told me another tenant had this problem in the marina dock complex and recently bought this antenna from Amazon and was now getting very good reception. I ordered one and it works great, I get five bars signal strength on my boat with the antenna in cockpit. I am having it installed on the binnacle post of our wheel steering vs using the base of the mast, and will need to simply have larger hoseclamps to attach around the 4" post. Credit goes to the friendly Everett Marina staff for this great suggestion along with location advice from Bob, who is doing our new rigging and consulting on related upgrades, including this antenna, and Tom who is doing superb other electonics installation along with this antenna. He is bringing the cable through the binnacle post or adjacent instrument pod stanchion. This eliminates risk of USB cable snagging /tripping in the cockpit.

Just set it out in the cockpit if not wanting the permanent antenna installation I wanted. Laying it flat on the cockpit seat gives four bars reception, so it wants to be vertical as advertised for best functionality and waterproof use. It looks well made and sealed. Laptop battery is the power source by plugging in the USB cable. A cover to afford extra protection from the elements was recommended for my use in the saltwater enviornnment and a canvas or nylon cover is planned. A great product for the price.

GREAT WIFI ANTENNA FOR LONG RANGE! . This is a great WIFI USB setup if you have weak signals now! It gave me 8 more WIFI signals at home. I can now connect to WIFI where I could not without this antenna. I do not have it outside yet but it is setting on my desk next to my computer. What a great improvement over the built in computer antenna set up! Can't wait to try it camping!
