This is a terrific product! . Works exactly as advertised - I needed to add another device to my home network and it was "out of range" of the wireless router - I already had the Powerline adapters for another device that was out of range and this new adapter "just worked" like it should. Nice!

Cons Review
INTERFERES WITH ROUTER . I've used an unknown brand 85 Mbps powerline for 6-7 years. Over the years we have had a number of different routers of different brands (D-Link, Linksys and Belkin), and this powerline has worked seamlessly no matter which router. With all the stuff we now have it was time to upgrade, and I decided on the D-link DHP-500AV and DHP-540. But after one day of "use" I've already returned it.For the few minutes the D-Link worked the throughput was lightening fast. But I only had Internet on connected devices for 30-40 seconds at a time. Then the powerline would go down for several minutes and have to be reset. The accompanying configuration utility was, er, useless. It couldn't find the powerline adapter, saying, "you aren't connected to the Internet". DUH!The D-Link even interfered with my Belkin router's wireless functionality. As long as the D-Link was plugged in, we had no wireless connectivity anywhere in the house. The problem is not old wiring. My house is only 7 years old, and as I've said the off-brand works flawlessly, as it did in our old house which was over 100 years old. It probably is some D-Link proprietary hardware within, although per homeplug.org HomePlug certified products are supposed to work together. The other possibility is the adapter wouldn't plug in securely. The placement of the prongs is such that the plug above partially blocks the adapter. Obviously the adapter has to be near your router, so unless you have a separate nearby outlet, the router and adapter have to be plugged into the same outlet.I'm going with Actiontec, even though they only have a 200 Mbps throughput powerline and hub. Actiontec was the DSL modem for one of my previous ISPs and it worked with many different routers. It also specifically says their powerline works with all brands of routers and gateways. Plus I save $100 for the same equipment.
