Eazy Wi-Fi . Here's my deal. I'm technically inclined and was given a laptop by a friend.
It had a built in A,B (54mbps)mode wireless and I wanted the best available which is 300mbps(at least for now)
Since I hate dongles, I immediately opened the built in Wi-fi compartment to see what was in there.
Voila a mini-PCI card.
Doing some web searching I found quite a few but most were more than I wanted to pay.
I saw it was a mini-PCI @ a great price too, and simply ordered this one.
Once this card arrived it was up and running in less than 5 minutes.
1.) Remove screw holding wi-fi cover.
2.)Disconnect 2 mini cables to the mini-PCI card
3.)Pop out the old mini PCI card
4.)in with the new
5.)Reconnect the 2 mini cables
6.)close it up and put in the screw.
It took longer for the ol' PC to boot than it did to swap out the wi-fi card.
Installed the drivers and was up an running at 150Mbps through out my apartment.
The only thing I had to do to get 300Mbps was change the router settings to the following:
I only use "N" so
Network Mode: Wireless N only, (I'm not sure if you can set this to mixed but its worth a try if that's your environment)
Channel Width: Wide-40Mhz Channel
Wide Channel: Auto
I get 300mbps everywhere in the house and beyond.
Just how far beyond (outside) I don't know just yet.
All in all for the money I spent this was a great deal.
You can spend a lot more for a 300mpbs mini-PCI card but why?

Nice speed boost for my old laptop . I just got this installed in my old Dell Inspiron 5160. I had an Intel ProSet 802.11g card in it, but when I got an 802.11n wifi router, I wanted to upgrade my laptop to use the extra speed. I had a hard time finding "N" cards that were mini PCI (and not mini PCI Express). I still couldn't seem to find anyone claiming this card would work in this particular Dell, but the form factor was right, and I read a few reviews of this card and figured it was worth a try at a little over $20. It wouldn't be the most I've ever gambled on a computer part.
It came from Beach Audio in a little box with a 3" cd with the drivers and docs. I installed the drivers, then when it asked to reboot, I did a shutdown instead and installed the card. Absolutely no issues with the fit or with the antenna leads reaching the jacks.
Buttoned it up, fired it up, and after the OS found the hardware and did the setup, I ran the wifi manager software, put in my wpa key and I was good to go.
I checked the drivers on the website, and the ones that came on the CD are the latest ones, so I didn't bother downloading them.
This card works great so far, and I can finally watch streaming videos without a lot of buffering and stuttering. I am running WinXP pro SP3. Works great.

Works on Inspiron 6000 but one antenna cable might be too short . (Inspiron 6000, Windows XP, 802.11a/b/g Netgear RangeMax router----not N!)It's pretty straight forward to get to the miniPCI slot. But one of the two cables won't >quite< reach the antenna plug on the card. This card likes to put the posts far apart from each other, and not like the Dell original card.The cable can be slightly re-routed around a post without getting crimped....I think it did anyway. You'll see what I mean when you open up the beast.BUT, and here's something interesting, hold back your default instinct to just use the XP driver utility to pull the driver directly off of the CD. I almost ALWAYS do that with all devices because I don't like HOKEY setups tailor made for dipsticks. HOWEVER, the throughput was miserable when I did that, and then when I installed it using their front-end dog-and-pony show (read the manual on the CD), it worked smoothly and quickly.One of the things I hate about this is that it requires you to have ANOTHER icon in your icon tray on the taskbar. You can't configure anything through the old windows wireless icon. Perhaps that's all part of the magic. Beats me, but I generally HATE non-windows configurations...but it seems to have more ability.In any case, it works.What I like: faster throughput than the oddly maxed out old Intel board that comes with the 6000. And that's using just the 802.11g, since I don't yet have an 11n router.

upgraded Dell 700m A/B/G card to dualband N at 300M - easy as pie and fast . The mini card swapped easily into the existing A/B/G cards slot. Removed old drivers, swapped cards, rebooted, installed new drivers and it runs at 280M to 300M when linked to my Asus router one room away.Streaming video at these speeds is similar to my 1G wired net.Good enough!
ubuntu11.4 :::drivers?? WE DONT NEED NO STINKING DRIVERS!! ;) . tell ya what. ive got this old dell d400 laptop that was a real pain to get connected. it had the old original(?) broadcom card in it. man what a pain. sometimes the driver would show up and i could install it and sometimes it wouldnt. when it finally went right the darned thing would drop my connection and do all sorts of bad stuff. from what ive heard i wasnt alone.
i re-install the o.s. in this machine alot because this is my "tinker" machine and sometimes things go very wrong.
i installed this card and thought i would have a problem installing the driver (linux). i powered up and saw i was connected right away. no need for a driver at all.edit: i put a new hard drive in the pc and dual booted linux and win xp. although i still didnt need a driver for ubuntu (went back to 10.10), win xp did need the driver and it worked well.
for me this has been a great product. i hope i helped and i hope it works as good for you.

I wish all hardware was this good . I have an old Dell Inspiron 9300 that I am attached to because it has a 1920x1280 screen. For some crazy reason all manufactures went to 16x9 instead of 16x10 so this computer is not replaceable. So when the Intel 2200BG croaked on this, it seemed a mini pci N card was a rare bird. I bought a usb adapter and it did fine, but was always a problem because it stuck out of the machine.
I then found and ordered this card and - wow. I have never been on another computer that actually gets the full 300mbps on its connection. This one does. Not 56, not 150, not 299, but a FULL 300mbps. And this is only with two antennae!
Seeing that my internet connection was only 15mbps, you wouldn't think it would make much of a difference for surfing. I am not sure all the reasons why, but this baby brought new life to my old computer. The surfing got immediately more crisp. Fantastic. What a great product.

Cons Review
Won't install on Windows 7 . Ultimately put this in a drawer because I could not get it to install with Windows 7. The driver was not included on the cd that came with the card, I had to go to the TP-Link website to find it. After installing the driver, Windows would not recognize the card, and caused the startup to hang. I'll be going with something else.
This Wireless card did NOT come with driver disc and manual . Be aware of this product!!! It did NOT come with driver disc or menu to allow you to install at the first time. You need to go to official TP-Link web site to download the driver and utility by yourself!
