Get Connected Using Viking! . I purchased this modem a month ago. I had previosly owned a Viking FM56KPA (also offered on Amazon) that I gave to my son when he took the laptop to college. I decided I didn't really use the cellular phone capabilities offered with the FM56KPA much so I decided to save the money by puchasing the FM56KPCC instead.The installation was a snap. The connection is right around 49K consistently. I am also impressed with the ability for the modem to connect in remote/rural areas as well. I travel often and usually just find the closest phone line to plug into in order to check email messages and use the internet. I have had a great connection speed everytime. Lastly, I am very impressed with a feature of the modem that normally goes unnoticed--the cable. Most modems have a cable that if it breaks or you loose it you have to buy a new modem. Not the case with this one. It is a simple industry standard RJ-11 to Honda connector.Excellent product backed by a very reputable company.P.S. I also have a Viking memory upgrade in my Sony laptop. Awesome!

Exactly what I needed... . This modem has been a huge blessing. I needed a new PCMCIA modem for my laptop and needed it fast and Amazon.com got it for me. The installation process was incredibly easy; it was true plug-n-play. I installed the modem and got online all in one short evening. Ever since, it has worked perfectly!

Excellant value . I received the viking PCMCIA card and used the technicalsupport to load the modem. It is a terrific value. The card was cheaper then the Zoom and the 3 Com. I had a gateway 36.6 which was bumped off aol all the time and slow. This is a reliable, fast and a pleasant addition. I'm more than satisfied for the price, warranty and technical support. This modem is priced right

Easy To Install Works Great . New to installing hardware but this was so easy I could not believe it!! Takes you through step by step and no problems and worked with no adjusting needed. Will be ordering another one soon for my other laptop coming in.
Nice and stable. . I have no problems with this card on my own Thinkpad 380Z. It works in Russia which have most unstable phone lines in the world. It works with 98. Do you need somethig else?
Great product great price but . . . . I also had an installation problem involving missing driver files. It was easy enough to download the necessary files from the Viking website, but you'd think that a company that makes such a great product would get it right the first time.
Satisfying . It's quite cheap, esp to consider its quality. What a valuable Modem PC Card
Viking Moden & Win 2000 . The modem installs very easily with Win 2000. Simple step by step instructions make the installation very easy.
Cons Review
Not Plug and Play . None of the disks that were sent with the modem had the file(s) that was needed. Tech support said they would send me the file that I needed overnight, or that I could go to the website and download it myself. Needless to say, I went to the website and downloaded the necessary files, and sure enough one file was missing from the disks sent.
Viking Needs to Get It Right (Side Up) . The Viking card I received from Amazon had the labels reversed, top to bottom. This naturally led to inserting the card upside-down--an excellent way to cause expensive damage to a laptop. Such lax quality control on Viking's part does NOT lead to confidence in their products.(Amazon's Customer Service, on the other hand, was truly outstanding.)
