Argosy HV676 HD Media Player

This review is from : Argosy HV676 HD Media Player
Excellent budget HD media player . I've had this device for 6 months and it is a winner. However, you have to understand it's limitations.

It is not a 1080P high def player. It plays 720P and 1080i. It provides excellent picture quality for a 720P set that I'm using. Picture quality is as good as the Pioneer up-scaling DVD player that I also use.

Attach a portable hard drive and use it with AVI files and ISO DVD files. It works great. It is limited to playing back DVD Folder/ DVD ISO, VCD, MPEG1, MPEG2, Xvid (AVI) movie files, MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG music files, JPEG photo and graphic files.

I haven't used it with music files.

Works with all flash drives and portable HD I have thrown at it.

Remote is functional, don't lose it-the unit does not have any controls on it.

One annoying problem: most of the time, when I first access a video or ISO DVD file, the sound crackles and breaks down. The unit needs to be re-started and the sound kicks right in. I don't know why this occurs but it is a problem and prevented me from giving the Argosy five stars.

If you are looking for a budget media hard drive solution the Argosy is an excellent choice.
Argosy HV676 HD Media Player Reviews
Nice Player . I own one of these, and I just love it. Plays almost anything I throw at it except flash video and mp4. But for mpg, avi, vob and divx, just plug and play.
The player has no buttons though, you have to use the included remote to work it. I programmed a universal remote (set to DVD) and put away the manufacturer's remote... That worked beautifully.
Good player. Does what it says it should.
Four stars. Five if it could play ALL my digital media. Perhaps a file converter could be included in the package.
Argosy HV676 HD Media Player Opinions
Good player but make sure it reads your media . I have used other Argosy brand players before and liked their features and compatibility. I ordered two of these models to replace other Argosy players with internal hard disks - I needed solid state media players that played when powered on, and can be safely unplugged while playing, which these do handily.

I intended to use them with some Kingston flash drives - "Kingston Digital Inc. 4 GB DataTraveler Generation3 2.0 USB Drive Flash Drive, 2 Pack DTIG3/4GB-2P" These flash drives work fine on my PC but cannot be used on these Argosy players. The player will show "loading" for a long time but never actually load any media from it, just print a line of garbled text. Other flash media did work: a Kingston 1GB SD card in a USB card reader, and another brand of 4GB flash drive "Lexar JumpDrive TwistTurn 4 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive LJDTT4GBASBNA" I checked for a firmware update but there are none.

If your media works these are good players, but the fact that a well known brand of flash drive did not work makes me suspect others might also not work. Those Lexar models above do work though.
great product simple but works great . easy to work with, show every fromat including dump of DVD folder, with titles, menus etc
easy connectivity , etc
Awesome device! . I have several personal media players (PMPs) so I have a lot of different media formats. I've plugged the Argosys into to a regular TV via the include RCA connects for Composite and Component connections and the output looks great. Get yourself a HDMI cable and can connect it to your home theater sytem or flat-screen and you'll really be impressed with the with the quality of the device.

The remote is a bit small, but it's great if you travel because you can throw this in your suitcase or backpack, bring a bumch of USB sticks or portable hard drives and you're off to the races. I've also been able to get it to work with portable hard drives that use the USB port for power without any problems for a completely portable solution.

If you have a lot of media files and you're trying to declutter all your discs, this is a great part of a media system. The fact that it plays DVD ISO files as if you're in a DVD Jukebox is an awesome feature.

I do wish it would handle MP4 like other reviewers have already mentioned. I'm not that concerned about it not playing Flash because none of my other PMPs do, so I don't really have a lot of content in that format.

Frankly, I love this device and I think the price point is great!

Cons Review
Not working right . It look simple but not work like I expected, won't play DVI or ISO format, maybe it's defected? What will it play? Anyone know how to set up this player? Please show me,thank you!
weak interface . this product is very picky on the external hard drive, so far the only thing it works for is the flash drive
