A great deal ! . Anyone who buys refurbished expects a 90 day warranty max, so I don't think it's fair for the previous reviewer to review the warranty NOT the product.I bought Boxee when it first came out and returned it, because it was in such a 'beta' stage they should never have shipped them. However the Boxee guys have continued to work on this machine and now have a great, functional device, earning it the #1 position in the iboum rankings.I have two 'refurbished' units and they are working perfectly. Had to install the new firmware on both units, just as you do with new ones !I use mine connected to a wired home network and they receive streaming media in 1080p flawlessly. In addition being British, I also like connecting via the VPN function, allowing me to watch the BBC iPlayer, (even in HD) ! When not using the VPN., I find Netflix, HBOGO and Pandora to all work brilliantly, some say they find the Netflix interface clunky and slow compared to other devices, I disagree, it seems to pick up and stream HD video from my library in a reasonable time.At this price, almost $100 off the original retail price, you really can't go wrong. This product has totally evolved sine it's launch into one of the best HD media players/streamers out there.

What a great little Gem . All I can say is WOW! And what a great price. This device replaced my Logitech Revue that I used for Netflix and my Acer Revo 3600 HTPC that I used XBMC for streaming local content. This device does both and better. I have the WDTV Live, Logitech Revue, Acer Revo 3600, and Roku and this is the better all around device. I still have high hopes for the Revue when it gets the Honeycomb update but for now this is the device to get. I think I might buy another.

Great Product! . I really like this product, came without defect and I use it almost every day. It's the best deal on a product that can play my saved media, and has an ethernet port or wifi. All of the different apps are great too, anything from anime to cooking recipes, it's a great buy!

Great little box . The Boxee box is a great buy. The refurbished model is competitively priced with the AppleTV and Roku, but offers a whole lot more entertainment. My box seemed good-as-new, so I would recommend this over paying the extra $60 for nothing.While the channels are generally pretty good, the experience is somewhat marred by inconsistencies between interfaces. Does the center button pause? Does it bring up a menu? Does it leave the video? What does the menu button do? Every channel seems to have different answers to those questions, but this is a side-effect of letting all the channel makers have free-reign of the interface. Additionally, some of the channels will break, from time to time. I think a lot of these are community maintained apps that don't keep up with changes on the source's sites.Playback over the network is great. I use an Apple AirPort Extreme with a hard drive to store my movies, and the Boxee has no problems streaming everything off of it in 1080p. Most codecs are supported (if VLC will play it, so will Boxee), but some obscure codecs might not work. One which is becoming less obscure by the minute is Hi10p or 10-bit H.264. The Boxee will not play these, yet, and may never support it because of hardware acceleration issues. Right now, this is only a dealbreaker if you are a hardcore anime fan, and the shows you want aren't offered on Crunchyroll or NicoNico. In the future, though, this might call for a hardware revamp from D-link.All in all, the box has been a great purchase. I've gotten way more use out of my TV with it, and it's pretty much supplanted my computer for viewing internet video in my house.
Boxee Box . The d-link Boxee Box arrived as expected, well packed in an oversize box. The unit installed and setup quickly, software updated automatically and connected at once via by Ethernet. Worked well, especially Pandora which provided high quality music. The access to files on my PC and network server was a bit awkward to setup but worked well.
I would I could with a Box . I have one of every device to stream Internet content to my television, but nothing works as well as the Boxee Box. Not only does it play any item on my computer, but it also has a working browser. I highly recommend the boxee Box!
Boxee Box Re-Furb may need a Re-Think . I'm a huge fan of Boxee and the Boxee Box, I ran a Boxee server in my house for the last few years and when the Boxee Box came out I picked one up to free up the PC for other uses. Overall I'm a huge fan and when I saw the opportunity to snag up a 2nd Boxee Box for a nicely reduced rate via a re-furb offer I jumped, now I consider that impulsive decision a bit hasty. The box arrived in Amazon packing and that was fine, could have been packed a bit tighter, maybe a layer of air-pack or bubble pack but because the Boxee's box was free floating and actually caused damage to the outer shipping box, nothing major but clearly a result of poor box in box packing. The re-furb unit came in a plain brown box, I can deal with that, no issue at all, I knew it was a re-furb but honestly I've purchased B-Stock and Re-stocks from many different companies and they want their branding all over the box to show pride, this showed none of that, it actually conveyed a sense of, here's the unit you wanted, we pulled it from where ever it was and you can enjoy, sorry but a tad un-professional.Once open and digging into the packaging, I was a little disgusted to find the Boxee unit had fingerprints all over it, the bottom and a large black area of crud that showed nicely over the neon green rubberized bottom and it literally looked like went to someones house, grabbed the one they weren't using, dropped it in a box and shipped it to me. I used several Clorox Wipes to take the funk off the unit and set it aside while I dug around for the remote and power cables. The remote was there, it was used, and in fact doesn't work, the battery was new but when you press the main buttons on the remote they don't work at all or send the same command 5 to 7 times so if you're trying to select something the unit will lock up because it got too many of the same commands in rapid fire. I also can't use it at all to setup some of the services like Netflix because it will send a submit command before I finish entering my user name and password. Fortunately I have the Boxee App on my iPad and was able to use that to setup the unit, but if someone didn't have access to that, they would be screwed and would be having to return the unit for a newer one. So far the unit is working, it took a data update from the Boxee site on power-up, it's working pretty much the same as my other full retail box but overall not a pleasant experience. For anyone considering Boxee, consider this, it's a public beta at best, there are issues all over the OS such as improper audio levels on playback of ISO images, buggy output to DTS or Dolby receivers via HDMI and a user interface that at times can be a challenge. If you want a test drive, download the free application online and setup a Boxee server on your PC, after you get comfortable running it then I would say it's a good time to order the appliance. As for the re-furb, I would consider it again, but only if it showed up with a pair of rubber gloves and a can of Lysol to clean it up before I get it out of the box.
nice box - this refurb needs to be refurbed again . Have a Boxee Box (BB) that is about 9 months old and it does a really nice job with the locally stored media. Right now, I have almost 3T locally attached to the machine.After upgrading the 'other' TV in the house, wanted to add another Boxee Box to the mix. Saw this refurb and got it. Unlike other refurbs I have purchased (electronics and photo gear), this one looked like it had been used hard and returned. I updated the firmware and connected it to the new TV. Everything seemed ok until I had to use the remote - it has a tendency to repeat a click - a number of times. In addition, when turning on the BB or waking it from its 'sleep' mode, there are intermittent flashes of horizontal lines that appear on the TV. I did try a different HDMI cable and the behavior persists. Neither behavior is what I have come to expect with my older BB.At this point, I am a bit concerned about the internal video processor which I am guessing is the source of the horizontal lines. That combined with the 'sticky' keys on the remote are going to have this particular unit heading back to Amazon so it can get re-refurbished.But, I am hoping to get a better 'refurb' when I replace this one with another refurb.
A Box does all this ??? . After digitalizing all my vinyl records, and copying all my CD recordings to hard drives, I was looking for a device that would allow me to play all this massive collection of music through my home theatre system. I spent a lot of time looking.... well over a year! Nothing out there even comes close to what the Boxee box can do!
This little cube will read ALL Music, photos, video and DVD recordings and render them up EXACTLY as they are recorded. It produces 5.1 audio along with the analog L/R audio. It can read recorded DVD information off harddrives.Did you pay $75.00 for a 7 inch picture frame to view your photos? I use a HDMI cable from the Boxee Box to my HD TV. I have 8 old EIDE hard drives in enclosures that are linked linked through three USB hubs daisy chained into the Boxee Box, and it reads all of them.
In addition, it is linked through my wireless network to read info from my Droid, Xoom, Computers, Printer (sends to) and with it's built in browser and QWERTY remote control, I have access to the internet. I have used it to view sports channels, ABC, CBS, NBC and free new release video movies.
The Boxee Box is a computer.... a true multimedia computer. It is based on OPEN SOURCE programming which means that upgrades are FREE and never ending! More apps will be coming as more and more people jump on this little project.

Cons Review
DLink Refurbished Boxee Warranty = 30 days . I decided to pick up a second Boxee for less. When I received the product, it was in a plain brown box with a sticker on it stating that the Dlink warranty was only 30 days. Amazon did not include this information anywhere in the information for the product. I have no problem buying a refurbished product, but the manufacturer could have at the very least, included a full manufacturer's 1 year warranty. I have no way of knowing if it was a buyer's remorse return or if it was a hardware failure. Returning it for this reason. Dlink will have the opportunity to refurbish this one a second time.
I am rating this purchase 1 star for the warranty reason. The Boxee box is 4 stars for the Boxee dev team support. The product still is buggy, but does what I expect it to. The only thing it is missing is Amazon VOD. Still waiting for that one box to rule them all. Boxee comes close, but they need to add Amazon VOD to be that box.
