Excellent product and value. . Let's face it getting a quality gige solution these days is challenging. I wish I knew of HP, and their procurve line much sooner. This switch is really an amazing value. If you know about managed switches, and need the networking support look no further. This switch has a kitchen sink waiting for you. I got my pair to support the other three 8 port desktop units I acquired. It does vlans, and the gigabit is high quality. I put many of the other features it offers on my router, but it can do per vlan dhcp. I like the web GUI, it makes port setup obvious.
Just two points I feel I should mention. Under device > configuration > save (tab) is where you save all your settings. It does not save all your work unless you tell it to. This is a good thing. If you get all messed up, just pull the plug. Now you're back to square one. No need for any resetting. The other thing, when you first designate a trunk, it will take a long while to come up. It is because STP is building it's tree. Just be patient.
This is not an easy switch to learn. It is very feature rich. It's great for the budding networking student I was a few years ago, and many times cheaper than Cisco. As someone else already pointed out, the fan is as loud as a fan spinning up should be. You get used to it, we're not discussing a dust buster here.

Cons Review
HP Procurve V1910-16G . Purchased this unit about 2 weeks ago, to install in a room which is also used as a home recording studio. The unit has many good points, its fast, works great, is easy to configure, and it has a downside.
Normally the room noise is about 41-42 dB, however when this unit is switched on the room noise jumps to 57-58 dB. If you dont mind the fan noise, buy it, but if you want to hold a normal conversation in the same room, pass it by.
