Bytecc Mini switch BT-555 Ethernet N-way Switch BT-555 Switches & Bridges
This review is from : Bytecc Mini Size 10/100 mbps N-WAY SWITCH (USB Bus Powered)(RoHS ok)
works as advertised but beware . the thing works great--plugged it into the single ethernet drop at my desk (runs to a switch in the server closet) and devices connected through it don't even realize what's going on and the throughput is excellent.
however, powering it from my windows vista machine caused it to bluescreen repeatedly. worked as expected from my linux laptop sans the crashing.

Got what I expected . Its as small and convenient as it looks. Only improvement I would make is a plastic case to make it lighter. Still, I love it! The perfect travel device.

Bytecc Mini Size 10/100 mbps N-WAY SWITCH (USB Bus Powered)(RoHS ok) Opinions
Not enough speed for my needs . I bought this to connect an PS3 and a PC together on a home network. The PC is receiving packets from a first generation HDHomeRun tuner in BeyondTV. Previously, I used a port on a 1 Gbit switch and I manually transferred the cable between devices - no problems with data. I bought this switch, connected to the same 1 Gbit cable, and now the PC TV picture stalls and lags when receiving data from the HDHomeRun tuner. I assume it is simply not fast enough to keep up with an HD stream. My network has many devices, so I cannot rule out some issue with another device.

Works Great . This is my second switch, the first one wore out after several years of plugging/unplugging network cables 3-5 times a week.
My job requires creating a private network on multiple computers often without an available plug. From use, the power connector started to come loose so I soldered the USB cable directly to the board.
This switch makes life so much easier.

Great Little Switch . I take this on trips and it really helps. I can get myself and co-workers connected with no problems. No more fighting over a limited number of ports. I've had it around 7 months (purchased March '11).
Another reviewer mentioned the plug protruding a bit from the box. I agree; it could be a better, more solid connection, but it works.

5 PORTS MINI NETWORKING SWITCH
Great Portable Switch . Have only used the switch for about a week so far but works great for those situations when you need an extra port but only have one. I do trouble shooting on customers networks and most of the time they don't have a free port or power near by, with this you don't need an external power source as long as you have a USB port. Take note though that the USB adapter is a special proprietary jack so if you loose it your out of luck. Also no external power adapter such as a wall wort.
Excellent for Internet on a TV. . I am using this to connect a wireless access point to our Internet ready Bluray player and TV. It works like a dream powered, like the access point, from the TV's USB ports :-)
Bytecc Mini Size 10/100 mbps N-WAY SWITCH (USB Bus Powered) . This is a great little switch! I can run it off the power from my laptop so I don't need an outlet. It allows me a lot of freedom for plugging into a neet work without the need for an AC outlet.
