Perfect Solution for Sharing Internet Access with Guests! . I work for a healthcare organization that cares for people at an inpatient facility. We wanted to be able to offer internet access to our guests, but we also wanted to separate the guests from our LAN. This device was the perfect solution. Now guests can access our internet connection and they cannot see, communicate or even ping any of our other network devices. Believe me, it protects the network flawlessly! One of the things I like about the router is that the interface is EASY to use. Also, you don't need advanced configuration features above and beyond what this unit is designed to do! It was designed specifically for guest internet access + private network security. That's all you really need to know. One of the things I really like is the ability to limit the bandwidth (download/upload speed) for guests using your internet connection. I limited them to 2mbps download speed of our 10mbps download connection and 256kbps upload of our 1mbps upload connection. Works great but limited features . We are using this gateway for our church, and it's working great. It's setup so anyone can connect to our wifi, and when connected they can only access our church website or enter a password to access the full internet. It displays a friendly message much like popular coffee shops with our guidelines for using the network, and explains how to find the password (we want visitors to come inside, not just sit out on the street).
The setup was pretty easy, the biggest inconvenience is you have to reboot after every change. The features are a bit limited because it's designed to do one thing, and one thing only: Provide guest internet access. You can tell it a list of computers to always allow access, and do some fancy stuff with certain passwords working at certain times. We also plugged multiple Linksys routers into this unit to expand the coverage around the church. The Guestgate protects both the wireless and wired networks so we didn't have to do anything fancy there.
The only feature I wish it had but didn't, was some way to make the allow list the only people who can access the private network. We have a printer that office staff needs to print to when connected wirelessly. It seems to only allow all access or no access to specific computers on the private network. The printer we have is on a random IP, uses specific drivers, and has password protection, so chances are nobody is going to figure out how to get into it. But it'd be nice if we knew for sure they couldn't.

Skip it. . Skip this device. It is cheap and the interface/feature set shows it.It is (look at the intellinet website) designed to sit behind another router. I think this is unnecessary as you are already buying a router. You can only access the HTTP administrator page on the public side, so you must do it from outside of your network or have another router in place.When you create a custom landing page and upload your own logo, the logo is left justified. You must create a logo that was whitespace on both sides to center it.Wireless - you can change the G channel but not the N.You cannot control the DHCP lease time if you want to. The manual says more than 50 users will result in poor performance. When we installed this and configured a custom welcome screen, there was a 10-20 second delay once we hit "Continue" before we could hit the web.This thing actually has a "Reboot this device every day at <time> option". Why does a piece of equipment need this unless it is unreliable?The manufacturer will not provide technical support - they say to contact your resller. There is no phone number. Visit their site and you will see.If you really want a router with a landing page and/or password for access, consider going with one of the Linksys or Dlink routers and put the open source firmware like DDwrt, or spend more money and get a quality device. This isn't it.
No usable . Ok first off I was unhappy with gis-k1 it was cheap and firmware was sometimes sensative well I have to say compared to this piece of @#$% it is solid gold.
I really cant recommend either device since the gis-k1 is so sensative but seriously I cant even configure this piece I have been messing around with this thing all morning I have reset it to factory standards more times than I can count.

Not compatible with VMWare . I used to work from my favorite coffee shop whenever possible, but since they installed this access point, my VMWare virtual machines no longer connect to the Internet in "Bridged network" mode. Apparently the device does not allow multiple connections from the same physical client, and I did not see an option to configure this feature in the administration pages. Very frustrating (but probably good for my health because I drink less coffee and eat fewer bagels).
