It does its job and does it well! . The thing works awesome.

Allowed me to stream netflix from two rooms over through three walls and one being a solid foundation wall, and it streamed flawlessly in full HD.

My internet connection sits right at about 10mb/s-12mb/s when directly connected through ethernet. With this wireless router, I could hold consistent speeds of 6mb/s everywhere I went throughout my house.

I would recommend and I would buy again, great product!
Buffalo Technology AirStation High Power N450 Gigabit Wireless Router - Black (WZR-HP-G450H) Reviews
Solid Router Great Range . Previously I owned the WHR-G300N and the WZR-HP-G300NH, and by far this is the best yet, and not just because of the obvious range/speed benefit because of the antennas, which by the way, are HUGE in person, but because of one particular piece of info I've noticed on my wireless status page. In the Wireless Packet Info, on the previous two routers, transmit errors would slowly accumulate over a few days until it was well into the hundreds, but on this router, it's been running for about 5 days straight since I've received it, and still reads "No errors" for both transmit and receive. This is a different firmware build of DD-WRT on this model than on the other two, guess they fixed it.
Buffalo Technology AirStation High Power N450 Gigabit Wireless Router - Black (WZR-HP-G450H) Opinions
FINALLY! . Lightning hit my house in early June and (amongst other things) knocked out a port on the back of my Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 router. Since then, I have been trying to replace it with a new router than has the same wireless strength and range. Since the WHR-HP-G54 is not made anymore, I had to try a newer router. My WHR-HP-G54 sat in the middle of a ~2000 sq. ft finished basement and provided full wireless strength to the entire basement and the entire ~2000 sq. ft main floor. I rarely had a bar missing on any wireless indicator. I have RoadRunner internet provided by Brighthouse (20 mb down / 2 mb up)and was always able to get 19 down / 1.9 up anywhere in the house. The WHR-HP-G54 also provided a solid internet connection to four wired devices in the basement. Needless to say, I loved this router and it never game me a problem in the many years I have had it. I figured since it was a G only router and N wireless had been out for quite some time, a newer router would provide me with at least the same performance or better. I first tried the Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H since it was dual-band and I could separate my laptop and iMac from all the other wireless devices (5 GHz for laptop and iMac and 2.4 GHz for everything else). I was able to set up the two signals without much issue, but the wireless strength was sub-par. I was never able to get much more than a couple of bars on the main floor in the corner bedrooms. I tried re-positioning the antennae and tweaking the settings, but with the same results. Keep in mind, my WHR-HP-G54 was full strength, all the time, everywhere, stock settings. I then tried the Linksys 2500 and had the same problem, weak wireless signals on the main floor. I began to think that the performance of my WHR-HP-G54 has something to do with its MIMO capability and built-in amplifier. With that in mind, I bought the WZR-HP-G450H because it touted a 3x3 MIMO antenna configuration with 5 dBi antennae. Finally, I had the wireless strength I was used to along with the DD-WRT I had been using with the WHR-HP-G54. This router is exactly what I was looking for: strong wireless signal, easy to set up (I am using the pre-loaded firmware), and 4 wired ports. I have only had the router a few days, but I have had no issues since setting it up. I will come back and update this review if something happens, but I am not anticipating any problems since my experience with Buffalo routers has been stellar. If you are looking for long-range wireless, I highly recommend you try this router. UPDATE (10-9-11)
I spoke a little too soon it seems. The wireless signal began dropping occasionally throughout the day. It may just be a setting or I may just need to switch to the included pro firmware. I really like the router, so I am going to keep it. I have switched back to my old router (with a busted port on the back) for now and when I get time I will finagle with the G450H to see if I can get a constant wireless signal.
Powerful router . Bought this for my sister who needed a powerful Wifi router in a 3000 square foot space. Had it professionally installed and it wasn't easy for the installer. Previously tried a Cisco Valet Plus and it didn't have enough reach. I bought this and and Apple Airport to compare. This was a little stronger than the Airport and half the price. Returned the Airport. Installation of the Buffalo is apparently more difficult, but it had a very strong signal in all rooms. Also you would want to hide the ugly antennas which stick up quite a bit.
Buffalo Hits it out of the park . I ordered this Buffalo wireless router (Airstation N450 Gigabit)few weeks ago and it's been working perfect from the moment I turned it on. I'm using this with a Motorola SURFbord SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem on the COX cable system. Out of the box I was up and running in less than 20 minutes (I even read instructions during that time). Everything worked so perfect I never had to install the software that came with the Buffalo. I don't think I'm missing anything by not installing the software and it was all so easy. I'm still able to go online and check the status of the Buffalo by typing in the IP address. You can update the firmware or refresh or do a number of things with the unit.My biggest complant is the side of the font for the KEY, the numbers ad letters were so small I had to put on 2 pair of cheater glasses to read them. Okay I'm in my 50's so the eyes arent what they one were but, the font is really really small!I would recomend both this products to anyone.ThanksBernie (in Arizona)
Exactly what I wanted . We stream video content every day. In the room where the old AP was we could stream HD content. But we could only get standard video quality elsewhere in the house. With the new AirStation AP we are able to get HD content anywhere in our 2-story home (2500 sqft).Pros:
>Increases Wifi reach
>Easy to setup (5 minutes and go)
>There is a bandwidth meter that showed I was streaming at 5.75Mbps which means my throughput is only limited by my AT&T DSL service (it is a 6meg service). I was simultaneously streaming two video programs - Amazon movie at HD and a youtube video.Cons:
>The setup wizard only modified the router's credentials. I had to go into the web-based administration menu to change the SSID and WPA2 key.
>I haven't been able to increase the Tx power beyond 15dBmUpdate (2-days after purchase):Pro:
>> Very good Buffalo forum; it provides lots of useful information.
>> Downloaded from Buffalo forum steps to add USB printer. Instructions were for Windows XP, but it worked equally well for Windows 7.Con:
>> Router needs second USB port so I can add Network file server.
extremely happy with it . I have used several Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 routers in the past years and very happy with their performance. With 802.11n in the market for a while, I like to upgrade my house's wireless network into a fast one. With 3 high gain antennas, I can get strong signal anywhere in my house. The user interface is very familiar dd-wrt one. I setup wireless NG-mixed, channel-width->dynamics (20/40MHZ) and wireless channel->auto, with WPA2 (AES) security. The wireless transfer rate is around 13MB/second, much faster than 2MB/second of the old Buffalo 802.11g mode. Highly recommend to those who need a reliable wireless router. Really impressed by its performance!
Great router . I have finally found a router that I can feel confident recommending. This one is great and provides great range and the web GUI interface is very quick to respond.
All around great router . This is a very solid router for more technical users. The pre-built DD-WRT software can sometimes be a bit buggy but hopefully some new firmware updates are coming. The best part of this router is the 3x3 antenna array which gives theoretical throughput speeds of up to 450 Mbps. While you're most likely not going to achieve these speeds unless you have a 3x3 antenna in your computer, the large 5dBi antennas really improve the data reception (RX) and output range (TX). In fact, if you plan on using a DD-WRT router to use as a repeater, this may be the best option since it provides the highest RX rates at long distances compared to the other Buffalo HP routers. The only issue I currently have with this router (and all of Buffalo's HP routers) is the software limited TX power in the DD-WRT firmware. For some reason (likely related to the Atheros drivers), the maximum TX power that can be set for this router is 15dBm (30mW). Since there are 3 antenna chains, this adds up to 20 dBm (100mW), which is quite mediocre. It's more than most routers on the market, but the hardware is capable of much more. If you look up the FCC filings for this router (FCC ID: FDI-09101912-0), its max power output is 20dBm per chain giving 25-26dBm total power (316-398mW). Thus, you might find that the range might not live up to its potential while throughput speeds slow down at longer distances. I've read in the DD-WRT and Buffalo forums that the "user friendly" firmware doesn't limit the TX power and provides better overall throughput and range. However, the OEM firmware lacks the robustness of DD-WRT firmware.Bottom line: Great stable router with DD-WRT & 5dBi 3x3 antennas provide added performance.
Not bad . The gigabit ethernet ports, the 450Mbits/sec (claimed- never achieved), and being compatible with DD-WRT (in this case, preinstalled) were the main reasons I bought this router. Also, I never had any Buffalo-Melco, and thought that it may be good to consider and so avoid buying always from the 'main players'.So far, it doesn't perform too bad. From my tests and other reviews read, it seems that with DD-WRT there are some issues. Still, I will stick with that firmware and avoid the 'user-friendly' one... even at the cost of some performance.I think that the shell has a bad design. It is good looking, but the base that came with mine isn't properly sized, and doesn't even assemble properly as a base (it works as a wall mount properly).Overall, I'm relatively satisfied with the purchase at the price paid.
