Good box but expensive . I used this JetDirect external print server to replace a Linksys print server that was picking up a lot of garbage from other radio devices nearby. The Linksys was cheaper, but the HP works flawlessly. I used the standard JetDirect software to configure the device, but found that the printer installation routine failed when it went to download drivers from the HP website. That really didn't matter a lot -- I had the printer drivers on the computer anyway. I stopped the installation process, and set a manual TCP/IP printer port for the JetDirect, and mapped the current printer to that port. I set a static IP number for the JetDirect box using the JetDirect configure software, and used the same IP number that had been mapped to the Linksys box. The computers that had been printing via the Linksys box now print through the JetDirect box, without any other configuration. A really nice product -- but a really high price for it. In retrospect, I should have originally purchased the printer with an integrated JetDirect card, but that was years ago, when we only had one computer. With the JetDirect box, my printer does not have the problems I earlier experienced with the Linksys print server.

Jetdirect EW2400 . It is a typical HP product pricey but works flawlessly. Had to install drivers for Windows pc's. To my surprise the Linux boxes automatically found print server and installed drivers without human intervention.

Works on Mac and PC . This product was relatively easy to install. In fact, it was easier to install on the Mac than on the PC. For the Mac, I just loaded the printer's software (HP Photosmart B8850 in my case) and the printer was located automatically by the OS.
However, for a new printer install on the PC, I did have a slight problem.
