D-Link, the worldwide leader in innovative home and business networking, sets a new standard for broadband router performance with the Di-704UP.  The DI-704UP is an Ethernet Broadband Router with a built-in 4-port switch which features a USB port to share a printer within the network. Up to four computers can be connected to the DI-704UP by using its four 10/100Mbps Auto MDI/MDIX Ethernet ports.  The easy-to-use graphical user interface helps make configuring the router quick and easy.  To prevent unwanted Internet intruders from accessing your private network, the DI-704UP also serves as a feature-rich firewall.  Administrative access and control allows the blocking of websites containing explicit material from being accessed from any computer on the network.

Amazing Product . Set it to use as a router and usb print server. In no time at all I had my canon mp730 up on the network. I looked for this same type of setup and there is no other company I could find that supplied a product that is a usb print server and a router in one at this time. I also have a Netgear wireless router mr814v2 I was using previously and I like the Dlink features more. If you need to set up some parental control it gives you that as well. And it gives you more control on that then the Netgear. If there is one thing that could be better it would be a printed manual but all you need is in the pdf on the disk. Great job all the way around D-link!
D-Link DI-704UP Cable/DSL Router, 4-Port Switch, USB Print Server Reviews
Performed as advertised . Having recently gotten DSL and having two laptops I wanted to have internet access from both independently. This device allowed that and also I was able to share one printer on the same cable goind throught the router; a nice plus.
Installation went smoothly and it was up and running in less than 30 minutes. Doc was good but read it through first.
D-Link DI-704UP Cable/DSL Router, 4-Port Switch, USB Print Server Opinions
Overall good job . I am happy with this router. I have a HP845C USB printer that was not listed as being supported on the D-link web site, but I had no problem networking my 2 home pc's to access DSL internet and the printer. I was unable to find another product with the USB print server feature with the router. I have had it for a month now and no problems.
False advertising . Warning : The product description says "USB print server" not "Maybe a USB print server". The list of the printers that are actually supported is buried in their website. I had no trouble connecting a Windows 2000 PC to a LAN port and using my DSL connection but a Windows XP computer, connected through a 10Mbps hub, even on the same port, could not see any network connection. It looks as if the 10/100 autosensing had a problem.
Good but ???? . I can't give 5 stars for this product. I use it as my main router. It works but sometimes it crashes and I have to go through some pains to recover it. When I tried to upgrade it through the dlink website it is another problem. So I am still running it like the way it came. Concerning the built-in print server it worked one time since then I never got that working again. I don't recommend it. It is not a stable product.
Good for Print Server - Not tested the router . As nowadays everything is becoming a router I have not yet had the oportunity to test the router of the DI 704UP. I own three of these with different printers (HP 1200 laserjet and Samsung 1210, 1430 and 1450), Finally I found something that is not stated in any documentation of these products. As Linksys Printserver PSU S4 you will have the same inconvenients with D Link: Try not to turn them off. If you do, try to turn back on in a given order, first the print server and then the printer, so you will see the status led of the USB port turn green.

Besides that the print server has worked very well.

I have used the web interface and it appears to have the same functionality as my Linksys Router but you never know.

I bought it for the price and do not regret it as I don't have to have the computers on for a remote user to use the printer.

If it weren't because of the coming back on line problem I would give it a 5 star... for the print server.

Cons Review
Does the job - poor documentation poor support . Beware of a few things. First the print server is compatble with very few printers. Go to D-Link's website and make sure your printer is compatible. Also if you are running a firewall on your PC's they may not see each other. The documentation is very sparse. The unit has a firewall but no explanation as to how it functions - your just suppose to trust it! D-link support will blow you off with ANY network questions. Unless it deals directly with the box they will say they can't help you. Other than that it works - next time I'll look at Netgear.
Really bad product. . Hi,

The router function works as expected.
Unfortunately I Paid for the printserver too.
It does not work with my Epson Stylus cx4100,D-Link could
at least put a list of actual supported printers in its web site.
Altough its such an old product it is still sold in Brazil.
Defective products from Amazon . I've ordered this router from Amazon; it came defective.
Then a replacement router (same model 704up) - also defective.
D-link tech support was surprised that their new routers were not functioning at all.
Not that happy with it. . I am very computer savvy, however networks are not one of my strong points. I have worked with them before and can usually navigate my way around without too much trouble. However, this router has given me nothing but problems. I am using it in conjunction with a westell 2200 dsl modem on verizon dsl. Now my modem has built in routing capabilities so all i really need is a switch, however I also needed a print server, so I opted for this. I figured id flip the modem into bridge mode and it would all be fine. However it turns out either a) the router isn't dialing out or b) the modem won't switch into bridge mode because the signal isn't getting to the router in pppoe mode. Both verizon and d-link tech support are fairly useless. Apparently verizon doesn't support d-link routers officially so they don't have much info on it. They said the routers bad, and d-link said the modems bad and neither will budge. After 6 hours i just ended up settling with leaving the router in switch mode and just manually dialing out with windows. But one thing that really makes me mad, is that about 60% of the time, my printing fails. It spools to the printer too slow for the computer to handle so the computer reads it as a failed printing job and stops sending the information to the router. Basically i'm just ranting because its 2 oclock and i need to print out a report and its not working right now, and if you don't want to be in this situation, I don't recommend this router. One good feature is that its 7 ports so its great for lan parties.
