So far so good . We had a problem with our network crashing on a Netgear switch, and so far after a couple of weeks, we've had great luck with this one! It's worth the extra dollars for the quality.
HP Procurve J9028B 1800-24G 22-Port Web Managed 10/100/1000 2-Port Dual RJ45 Switch Reviews
Very easy to use . HP makes solid switches. This is a great managed switch for small businesses that don't want to bother having to take a class on programming and configuring network switches. The GUI-based web interface makes setup extremely easy. Wish the other Cisco switches that we have were this easy to set up. This HP model may lack some of the bells and whistles of higher-priced switches, but it's hard to find a better value on solid networking equipment.

If you need this many ports and a gigabit network, I'd recommend this over home-grade equipment any day. Any network down-time in a business is a serious headache.

Best by for the money . Great switch. Management interface with the ease of use of a non managed switch. Fast and fan less and great for keeping noise down in an office environment.
Excellent managed switch . This is a fantastic switch for the money. VLANs, trunking are all there and work great. The switch is quiet--no fan, comes with rack screws and ears, the web-based UI works in any web browser, and is clear, to the point, and clean. SNMP support is great and integrated with MRTG just fine--just the regular MIBs. There's no CLI or RS-232, sadly, but hey, this switch is cheap. Mounting is easy, the switch is fast. I've had mine in service for over a year and no trouble connecting low end gear or high end enterprise storage gear to it. I've never needed to power cycle it. The LEDs are bright and not on the ports, which helps when the switch is fully cabled. It would be nice to have 10 GigE uplinks and so on, but then again, this is a cheap switch. If that's what you need, you'll be hard pressed to do better than this one.
Great switch . This is a great switch overall. I picked it up to replace a Netgear 8-port switch that ran so hot that the rubber feet partly melted onto the wall it was mounted on - I wanted something that was both more reliable and had more room for expansion. I chose this mainly because of the lifetime warranty, the overwhelmingly positive reviews, and the fact that it is fanless (most of the other 24-port switches I looked at needed active cooling). I also considered the 1400-24G, which is basically an unmanaged version of this and more than enough for a home network, but found a good enough price on this one that I decided to buy it.

The switch is rock solid, sturdy, and barely gives off any heat at all under load. The only possible complaint I could have is its size (it is much, much larger than the Netgear GS108 it replaced).
HP Procurve J9028B switch . I had a need for a switch of this unit's capabilities and it needed to be near silent/fanless.

I have been quite pleased with its functionality and performance; haven't heard a peep from the unit. Nice, quiet switch.
