Great Wireless Router! . Due to the fact that my old wireless went out too fast to enable me to buy on Amazon I ended up purchasing this router at Best Buy. This turned out to be a good thing as it was very confusing trying to sort out all the various types of routers available on Amazon with one reviewer saying one thing and then others with other opinions. I ended up going with the advice of the BB clerk and took home this mid range priced router.

Set up was very simple with the enclosed CD and I had it up and running in a few minutes although I could have done it with the written instructions as well. The range of this router covers my entire two story townhouse and services two laptops, an Internet radio and a Samsung DVD player that we stream Netflix movies, Pandora and YouTube. So far everything works like it should with no problems streaming.

The final step was re-entering the router password in our laptops, Internet radio and DVD player and we were good to go. This router will probably be all the average household will need unless you have an unusually large single story house or want to extend to a patio or pool area away from the house.
Netgear WNR2000 Wireless N Router Reviews
Could not have been easier . No offense to those that are techno-geeks, but I am not one. I bought this router to upgrade my household wireless capabilities from the ice ages (an old Intel router). I followed the directions and one by one every device came up online without a hitch. I directly connected my desktop PC, then my wife's Vaio, the HP Printer upstairs, and the Cisco Network bridge (connected to the blueray player). All equipment has been online without a hitch for about one month. I then bought my first Blackberry Storm II and it connected immediately. The speeds on my wife's PC are astounding as is the connection to the Cisco bridge - which is what I use to download movies from Netflix. The picture on the TV is beautiful, and the downloads worked with any issues.

If you can follow the easy to use directions, I'm sure that you will be pleased with the results. I could not have found an easier to install device.
Netgear WNR2000 Wireless N Router Opinions
Easy to install works fine with one major drawback.... . The on-the-box claim of "broadband usage meter provides internet traffic monitor and usage alerts" should have a * after it. The monitoring will only work for DSL connections, not cable modems. The option to turn on traffic monitoring (as well as all other traffic-shaping options) is disabled if you have a cable modem. Netgear says they may fix in the future but for now it is unavailable. Disappointing to me since that was one of the features I was looking for in a new router.
Great router! No bloatware. . This is a great consumer level wireless router. Its fast and easy to install and use. The best thing I like about this is that compared to Linksys's LELA software which seems like a unnecessary and bloated piece of software. In fact, the face of LELA reminds you of that computer program lady in the movie I,Robot.

Back to the router, it is a really great piece of hardware. One downside is that this model doesn't have a USB port at the back for me to attach my external hard drive to share across my network. Perhaps a newer model or higher priced model has this but, I will probably be looking to upgrade to something like that in 3-5 years or less.

This is the 2nd Netgear router that someone in my family has bought and I would definitely recommend their products, including this one!
Super Easy . This router is great, super easy to install and very fast, the coverage is very good, works great with xbox 360, psp, smart phone etc. And in addition you get parental controls free all of that at a super affordable price, so what's not to like, if you are thinking about getting this router, do it, you'll be glad.
A fast & easy network . NETGEAR Wireless-N Router WNR2000 - Wireless router - 4-port switch - 802.11b/g/n (draft 2.0) - desktop - refurbished

Customer wanted fast & easy network... got her this... she took it home and did it herself! Told her she could but she didn't believe me; told her to READ and FOLLOW the cd installation and she would be fine. She did and was. She loves it.
works like it should . Installation went smoothly of netgear n300 wireless router wnr2000v2. I used the included software install disc. total installation time was about 40 minutes including the peripheral connections. I had to go back and do the install again because I entered my security code wrong (and I liked the one i had) and didn't know how or if I could change it manually after the install. It connected quickly to my desktop HP with windows vista home premium with a linksys DUAL BAND WIRELESS pci card WMP600N THAT I had just installed. It also connected with: a 6 yr old dell latitude with windows xp professional, a newer toshiba laptop with windows 7 home premium, a brother mfc495cw wireless printer, and a mitsubishi dlp 73838 tv through an assurewave aw-nu231 wireless usb adapter. after one week the the connections have been stable with no dropped connections, the computers seem just a fast as they were when wired, and the vudu connection through the mitsubishi has been strong and fast enough for smooth hd 1080 video streaming. Now i'm placing my cable modem and router on an end table just inside the outside wall of the house where the cable enters and am completely wireless - just have patch the holes in the walls where the wires ran. the only problem I had was connecting the old dell it has a g wireless card connection and the security type it was set for would not connect. I selected a different type and it works fine now. don;t know much about it but it worked.

Cons Review
It's all about the version . My in-laws have this router in their house. It doesn't give out DHCP addresses to anything Mac -- iPod, iPad etc. Even with my PC laptop I constantly have to reconnect. It's a piece of junk. I updated it to the latest firmware, looked online for solutions, but it really seems there's no way to make it work properly.

I saw the exact same router in someone else's house, but it was working amazingly well! Everything connected and worked beautifully. What was the difference? The version. If your router says only WNR2000 on the back, you're out of luck -- it's the first version, and it will have serious issues. If it says WNR2000 ver 2 or ver 3 instead, you should be fine. Unfortunately, there's no way to know from looking at the box, so I don't recommend buying this router on Amazon. Go into Best Buy and demand to open the box, or just be ready to return it if it's the wrong version. I think this also explains why some people have really bad issues while other people have none -- they've got different versions of the same router.
No free customer support . The router is very easy to install and seems to work well so far (I've had it for most almost two weeks now). However, I called Netgear yesterday to ask them a question and guess what: you have to purchase a support agreement (which will cost you sixty-nine bucks). So here I have a router, for which I paid fifty-nine dollars at Walmart and it costs more for them to support it than the price of the device itself! What's up with that? I don't have much respect for companies that don't support their products.

As a side note, I've also been experiencing an issue when watching movies (from Netflix) through my Wii when using this wireless router. Basically, when I turn off my Wii and then turn it back on, the wireless router will no longer allow my Wii to connect to the internet (so I have to reboot the router and modem each time I want to watch a movie). According to Nintendo that is NOT the case with all wireless routers. The latest firmware update from Netgear was supposed to fix that but it didn't. So if you're planning on using a wireless router to watch movies through a device like a Wii, make sure you get a router that doesn't have this issue or call Netgear's sales people first to make sure this issue has been resolved.
Stopped working after 11 months . Paid over $80 for an item that I thought would we wonderful. I had some difficulties with watching Netflix over streaming video or sometimes connecting to the internet. Would have to turn modem and router entirely off again and the device, turn the internet on & let it sit connected for a bit before I could turn the device back on.

Month 11...worked fine one night and not the next morning. Called customer service...what a JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't understand the rep and I was told that since the device still turns on and you can see lights that it's a program malfunction and I need to transfer you to someone else & you have to pay a fee to do so. My internet is fine I can connect as long as I'm plugged into the modem.

The warranty is only good for 90 days on software issues...if it's hardware it's good until 2031 or something like that. So I'm stuck with $80 garbage!!!!!!!
