Linux support . Great adapter!, it's a little bit big for a laptop, but it function perfectly in linux, that's the razon because I bought it. No problems when you conect it to a USB HUB, but the system don't provide energy again to the adapter if your laptop resumes from a suspention, so you have to unplug and plug it to the USB HUB again(Only in this case).

Cubeternet USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Fast Ethernet Adapter for PC, Mac and Linux Reviews
Ethernet bridge worked . I used this to make a bridge so that I could see packets going to/from an embedded device I was working on. Worked great, but it does get a little hot after a while, which is a potential problem. No problem using this device with Linux, just modprobe mcs7830.

Cubeternet USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Fast Ethernet Adapter for PC, Mac and Linux Opinions
(Almost) Just Works . I ordered this because the ethernet jack on my laptop died, and sometimes I want a wired connection. I'd previously tried one of the clear blue ones, and found it was crap. The laptop dual boots Gentoo Linux and Windows 7.In Linux, I plug the device in, connect a cable, add the appropriate init script, start it, and that's it -- I'm online.
I'm guessing that in Ubuntu it would Just Work automatically. In Windows 7, I expect to install the driver from the supplied mini-CD but find the so-called drivers on the CD are not anything Windows recognizes as installable. Running "ipconfig" reveals Windows doesn't even recognize the adapter. I'm feeling pretty frustrated now. Meanwhile, the ethernet adapter has suddenly gotten so hot it kills my USB hub so my keyboard and everything quit working -- GRRR!I reboot Windows (***sigh***) and suddenly -- it Just Works -- runs cool, has an IP address, shows up in ipconfig and everything. I have no idea what happened, but I guess it's fair to say it almost Just Works for Windows 7.
In Linux it works perfectly right away.My how things have changed...

Works like a champ with Ubuntu 11.04 . I've used the little blue transparent ones. Spend the extra duckets, and buy this one instead.
Throughput is is at least 4 times better, and this one runs MUCH cooler. The blue ones can barely be touched during normal use. IMHO if you accidentally left the blue ones running under a blanket or something they could potentially be a fire hazard.
This unit has a native kernel module support, I forget which chip, but lsusb identifies the chipset, and it is the same name as the module in lsmod. So it is presumably genuine.
My only beef is that the plastic on the one I received is so dark you can't see the activity light. But that is small price to pay for decent throughput.

usb hi-speed ethernet adapter . I am a pc tech and this tool has proven invaluable for working on pc's that have internet connection issues due to malware or hardware failure. I would highly recommend it.
Very Good but Cautious . I bought this adapter to replace the onboard ethernet adapter on my laptop. It was, almost, instantly working when I plugged it in. The one thing that I'm cautious of is the fact that it gets very hot. I left it for an hour plugged in and it was hot as a pistol. But, it still worked
Great device! . I'm really happy with this device. I downloaded the driver for Windows 7 on my Dell XPS M1330 and worked great. Also tested on Linux Debian Sarge without any problems, just plug and play! Of course the only problem with it was the size, if it could be manufactured half the length then it would have the 5 stars!
So far one week ON, and working great! BTW I received one on White not as shown on the picture.

Cons Review
DO NOT BUY FOR WINDOWS OR DELLS ! . This is worthless, it does not work and comes with worthless drivers. it gave me a fake HTTTP adress in which it downloads the drivers but it just displayed a error message. I am extremely mad considering that i am a college student and i need my internet. DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE BUYING FOR A DELL LAPTOP !!!!!
