Very good switch for small office or home use. . I have used previous model (1400-8G) for a while and was quite happy with it. I expected 1410-8G switch to work just fine right out of the box as well. It really did, I just plugged it and it works since then without a single glitch.
Actually 1410-8B is a better than its predecessor. It can handle larger packets, it is much smaller and cable receptacles conveniently positioned at the rear panel (1400-8G has them on the front panel). Also 1410-G can be mounted on the wall and kit includes all the hardware necessary.
Switches of this product line don't require any setup or configuration, really 100% plug and play, which is huge plus for small office or home user.
This switch really stands up when a mix of Gigabit and lower speed adapters used. Cheaper Gigabit switches frequently effectively run entire network at the speed of the slowest adapter. This one makes sure that any two computers communicate at the maximum speed possible.
Switch delivers great performance for the money. In my opinion that is a great choice for small office or home network.

Quick and reliable but the power supply is bulky . This is one of the newest switches on the market, designed in 2009. It works reliably and does not hang like cheaper switches. I was looking for a switch with minimal latency and this one was the fastest (as of August 2010) from all 8-port gigabit switches available on the market, with 1000 Mb Latency of less than 1.2 micro-seconds. It supports for up to 9216-byte Jumbo frames and IEEE 802.1p prioritization QoS. It is silent and the metallic casing is only slightly warm, this is what I liked most. The only drawback is that it came with very bulky power supply which is not embedded into a plug but is a separate unit which connects to the plug by a wire.

Great Switch for high traffic use. . I am using this switch in a home theater setting, where I have two HDHomeruns feeding a Windows Media Center setup. I needed reliable bandwidth to get all four HD streams to the same computer at the same time. It works perfectly. I can even watch a movie that is streamed from my file server at the same time as the pc records four shows. One big advantage to this switch is the ability to accomodate gigabit connections at full gigabit speeds even when a device like the HDHomerun is connected, which is only 10/100. Cheaper switches make everything run at the speed of the device with the lowest throughput.
