Awesome wifi chip 4 Asus slate EP-121 Most advanced WIFI chip with BT. . The picture shows a Motherboard, But this item is only for the Intel 6230 wifi & Bluetooth mini pCi-e chip.

Easy upgrade for My Asus slate.ASUS Eee Slate EP121-1A010M 12.1-Inch Tablet PC My original chip broke, and I took a chance with this one over the 6300 & the 6330 because I love and use the BT option nonstop. Plus the 6 week estimated repair time by Asus was way to long. they make this awesome slate, yet suck at customer support!

Works perfectly with my Asus EEE slate EP-121!!! This is a cheap and easy to perform upgrade that is totally worth while!

This Chip has given me three times better wifi connection at the same distance as the original one, as well as more than doubled my slate's throughput between it and the router.

I chose the 6230 wifi chip because it has two spatial streams and is the best wifi chip with Bluetooth 3.0 integrated. This chip supports simultaneous dual band 300 mbps connection with Bluetooth. at the time of this review there is no better wifi adapter that also has Bluetooth. Note that the Asus Slate comes stock with 2 antennas. making this a perfect fit. The wifi chip that is stock in the Asus Slate only uses one spatial stream.

The Intel 63XX series wifi adapter Intel Ultimate N 633ANHMW IEEE 802.11n (draft) Wi-Fi Adapter - Mini PCI Express - 450Mbps is superior to the 6230 as it has 3 spatial streams, allowing for up to a 450 mbps connection. However, the slate only has two antennas present; so if you choose the 63XX ultimate chip buy an extra wifi antenna. it's only a few dollars here on amazon.Laptop Notebook Wifi Bluetooth WWAN/EVDO/HSDPA Broadband Internal Antenna But be aware no 63XX chip includes Bluetooth. And its almost twice the price of the 6230.

Bought the Intel 6230 from electronica direct, Great service, Great price, Great ship time, just bought a second chip to upgrade my wife's laptop. Will do business with them again in the future.

The rest of this review pertains to the installation of the chip into the Asus Slate EP-121.ASUS Eee Slate EP121-1A010M 12.1-Inch Tablet PC

Save yourself lots of struggle and go to Intel's website before you want to put the chip in, and download BOTH the Intel 6200 series Bluetooth driver's and the 6200 series WIFI driver's with application. The Bluetooth drivers were updated on the site in june and were approx 32 MB in size and the WIFI application was 48MB in size. You want the application because this chip allows for WIDI & MY WIFI technology. which allows your wifi chip to create its own network for easy computer to computer transfers. both features only work with this application, at the time of this review.

Make sure you uninstall your current wifi chips driver`s through Device manager, then shut down your computer, unplug and begin the upgrade:

I was insanely nervous about taking my slate apart, but it was painless. I used a butter Knife to separate the back of the slate from the front. Inserted it at the silver sideline and carefully sild it along the side popping the tabs out as I went. Please note the Slate separates into two pieces one is the screen up until the end of the silver band (the top includes the Silver band & the USB Ports, the back (second) piece is just the white plastic backing, including the penslot.I started by the pen slot on the top. when you wedge the knife between the two parts do not Attempt to wedge the silver band apart from the bottom by turning the knife it is part of the top piece and you will mess it up. Instead as the knife creates space continue sliding it down until you see a tab, then push the knife further in and pull the the plastic away from the Silver band. the tabs connect the plastic backing into the silver band.

Remember Dont try to separate the band, separate the plastic backing from The band!

be careful when separating the two pieces because the top and bottom are connected by a wire where the SD card slot is located. the wifi & Bluetooth Chip is located under the silver foil, not the Bronze colored foil, that's the hard drive. peel back the silver foil about half way, then there are two screws, and two antennas. Do not Remove the foil!!! it acts as a heatsink when the slate is on.

Make sure when you are plugging the new chip in press it firmly into the socket or else the system wont recognize it. then simply put the back of the Tablet back onto the front and using force slowly pop the two sides of the slate together. Do this one tab at a time, leaving the side of the slate with the USB ports for last as that is the hardest and most sensitive part of the slate to reattach together.

turn your computer back on and install both intel programs you downloaded. Restart your computer, and WIN 7 will do the rest.

The Bluetooth icon you might have had in the icons screen by your systems clock will no longer be there, however your bluetooth works, just access it through the start menu under the printers & devices tab.

Please note that you will have to reconnect all your BT devices again as well as re-entering all your wifi connection passwords.

This is a fantastic WIFI chip and well worth the price & installation!!

Good card great deal . My Acer 1551 supposedly came with wifi + bt, but only the wifi worked even after updating drivers. I was using a bt mouse with a bt usb dongle, but getting the mouse to connect was troublesome. But now I just turn on the mouse and it works! And no more bt thing sticking out of my netbook! As for the wifi, it logs on a little bit faster with better reception. With old card my signal was 2 or 3 bars but now I get 4 or 5 bars in the same room. The card does not come with drivers, but drivers can be downloaded from Intel.

Dropped connections. . As for the product itself... it is a great product if you need a better wireless card or simply want bluetooth without a wart sticking out of your laptop. This review is mostly to help anyone who might be having troubles with this card. You see - when I first got this card I would have dropped connections constantly. I tried everything... EVERYTHING!! In the end there was an advanced power setting in Windows related to the wireless performance and all I had to do was set it to maximum performance and my problem was fixed.
Hopefully this solution saves someone hours and hours like I spent changing configurations with my LAN.
Great way to add Bluetooth without sacrificing as USB port . Bought this to replace the stock Wifi card included with my Dell M11x. I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't work due to some hardware limitation or something (not too many people using this particular card for the M11x), but everything worked out fine. Hardware installation was easy, but because of the previous USB-based Bluetooth adapter I had installed, it took a full Windows reinstallation before I could properly use all features (including Bluetooth). Not going to take a star off for something that wasn't the product's fault.

Compared to the Wifi card in the Dell, this seems to both pick up a better signal and download at faster (and more stable) speeds. All of the Bluetooth functions I've used so far (including audio) work perfectly fine, can't complain. Overall, a great product, and would definitely recommend it to anybody looking to improve on their stock Wifi card and/or save a USB port with the built-in Bluetooth.
Better Wireless Throughput + BT . This was a nice upgrade to the Toshiba Portege. The Portege came with a card that did not support BT and was quite limited in speed. A few passes with an online speed test showed that my speeds went from around 17 Mbps to 40 Mbps (my service is 40/40). Having BT on the laptop makes for convenient use of Skype. There is one model up from this - can't remember if BT was included but I think you have to add a 3rd antenna which I didn't want to fiddle with.
Works Great! . Got this to replace an old Notebook wireless card (2 wire antenna) and it works Great! Download the drivers from Intel's website and just install and your good to go at 300Mbps on 2.4 or 5 Ghz bands (if your network supports that), and oh yea it also has Bluetooth... :)
Asus U36SD upgrade! . Installed this card based upon some experience with it and reviews.. Unfortunately the wireless card isn't user accessible in this laptop, but hey! Well worth cracking open the case ans swapping it out.. On the stock antennas my range is boosted considerably, as well as the speed (Up to 300MBPS!!!) even on my School's campus wide protected wireless network! My one issue is an issue with the interaction between the Function keys and the card. (Toggle WiFi and Bluetooth) but that is something to be figured out as time goes on.. Well worth the update!
Great card and what a value . See the other reviews and make sure you download the Intel drivers before swapping hardware.

I replaced the 802.11g card that came in my Toshiba laptop with this one to get built-in bluetooth and save a USB port. The range on this card is at least as good as the original, bluetooth works great, and swapping the cards was painless.

Can't beat it for the money.
Powerful and Fast . Bought this to get 5ghz on my wife's Dell Inspiron 15R. First tried it on my Dell Studio 1558 since she's out of town. Works great on Dell's at least. No more crowded 2.4 ghz bandwidth issues. Does not work for my Compaq 610, not supported by HP I guess.
Perfect Wireless-G Upgrade . When I bought my Dell laptop last year I was really disappointed in two things: no HDMI output, and a cheap wireless-g card when every other laptop on the market had wireless-n standard. When I learned that the laptop's wireless card was user-replaceable, I jumped at the chance to upgrade. When I booted the computer after installing the card, Ubuntu automatically detected the change and loaded the proper drivers. My connection speed jumped from 54 to 150 MB/s and the Bluetooth manager instantly detected my phone and mouse.

Like the other reviewer mentioned, the 6230 has two spatial streams. It's not as powerful as other wireless cards, but it certainly gets the job done and includes Bluetooth at a lower cost. It was a perfect fit for my Inspiron, which comes with only two antennas. Installing the chip was simple enough. It varies for each laptop brand, but for an Inspiron it's very straightforward. Unscrew and pop off the cover that says C/M on the bottom of the laptop (you'll see two RAM modules facing the back of the laptop and the wireless card facing the front). Unscrew the wireless card and pop off the two antennas, then do the reverse with the new card. Boot your laptop and you're good to go.
