has issues with my Supermicro X7SBL-LN2 mobo . I have a Supermicro X7SBL-LN2 mobo and the Supermicro SuperChassis 743TQ-865B with 8 SATA drive bays. I bought this card because my mobo only has 6 SATA ports, so I could use all 8 drive bays.
I run Linux (Fedora 14, though the card worked fine on Fedora 13, as well).
There are several problems with this card:
With my mobo, there is a 1 minute delay while it does something at initialization time. All I see are two lines printed by the BIOS then nothing for 60 seconds (I timed it). This is pretty annoying--before adding the card, the machine fully booted in about 30 seconds. Now it's 3x longer.
Not firmware upgradable. At least, I couldn't find any mention of this on the Siig website.
No BIOS that can be entered at boot time (so there is nothing to tweak). This isn't a huge deal and I didn't take away a star for it. It's just that I've had cheaper cards that had a BIOS that allowed you to, for example, see what drives are attached to the card, etc.
Were it not for the delay, I'd give this 4 stars. If it were firmware upgradable, as well, then it would get 5 stars.

Great product . Works as promised... Flawlessly in Debian Lenny. Works so well I got a second one.
2-PORT Pci Express X1 Card Reviews
Another quality Siig product. . If you have an unused PCIE x1 slot, need more sata connectors but don't have anymore, then this is your best solution. Best price on the web too. Thanks Amazon. It works flawlessly. It can also be used with a SATA dvd/cd reader or burner. If you do use it for DVD or CD sata instead of HD's you may have a problem with freezing at the BIOS screen when booting up or restarting. You need to remove any media that is in the drive if this is occuring. Again while starting or restarting for some reason if you leave a dvd or cd in the drive that is connected through this card, the Bios screen will freeze. So basically if you do use it that way just take out the cd/dvd before shutting down or restarting. Works Perfectly flawless though with two 250GB western digital sata HD's. I have used many siig products throughout the years and they are definitely one of the best hardware mfg..
