INTEL ANYPOINT NETWORK ADAPTER APR2W1USB

This review is from : Intel AnyPoint Wireless 1.6M USB Adapter
Extremely easy to install and it works! . I just installed this on my two home PCs. It took just a few minutes to install the software and plug in the USB cable (included). Both computers were networked in just a short time and I am able to access the internet from both as well as share printers and drives. You do have to buy one for each computer. My "server" computer is a home-built and the "client" is an HP Pavilion. I was braced for a lot of troubleshooting and tweaking but it really did all come together without a hitch. I highly recommend this.
Intel AnyPoint Wireless 1.6M USB Adapter Reviews
Some bugs to work out but a cheap wireless alternative . Installation was easy enough, but my server PC kept freezing up on a blue screen error message. I contacted Intel tech support, which has limited hours of operation, and did not hear back from them for several days. I had the units packed up and ready to return when they finally called with a fix. I've noticed the newest release of the Anypoint software contains the fix for the problem I was having. Although the system has speed limitations and you can't usually run programs installed on a different machine, it is still a good and cost effective alternative for a home network when a hard-wired network is problematic.
Intel AnyPoint Wireless 1.6M USB Adapter Opinions
Easy to use. . Using this product was my first experience with networking 2 home computers. Installation is easy if you have a little bit of basic computer knowledge. I have a cable modem connection and the service is just as fast on the client pc as it is on the server pc. The only problem I've encountered is that the server pc occasionally loses the network connection and both computers must be restarted. But I think this is a problem with the computer itself and not the wireless networking. I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants an easy way to network their computers.
Great Intel home networking solution . I can see many reviewers are frustrated because they encounetred software compatibility issue, I think I am one of the lucky people who enjoy this product. Easy installation and home networking is just in minutes. No problem with my compaq presario pc (Win 98)and HP pavillion (Win Me). Although I see problem on my compaq pc when I try to shutdown, over all, it's great product especially when you have tried others networking product, the intel software is absolutely excellent !
Works Well Through out the House E-Z Install . I realized when I bought it that there were other networks out there that had faster speeds. However, heavy downloads I can use the direct connected server computer on broadband. Thought I'd step up to one of those 11mmps models but found that I had to purchase three items... to do such and then read that the speed max advertised speed was proportional to how close you were to the server. 100 feet 11mbps, over that 5.5mbps and over that 1mbps... I've the base (server) in the basement of my house and it reaches well to the third floor bedrooms. Have had a few problems with errors coming up now and again, but simlply reboot the notebook primarily and things iron out... EZ to install... EZ on the pocket-book... like I mentioned only two items to purchase... a card for the notebook that was capable to the network base... it does what I want for a home computer. Printing to the downstairs printer is a snap... Wish I could now find a way for the printed material to walk upstairs to me. Read where Tech support is a long wait... have not tried them yet... it is so simple to install and use I'd just revert back to a clean install if real problems occur. Which have not truly happened. Step by Step picture instructions made the install NICE and EZ. Have looked on line at the Intel Anypoint product. Suggest you might do the same :-) IT supplies my needs... Oh yeah, talked with a customer at the store and he mentioned that he had two sons that worked off their notebooks in their rooms. He was right about the ease of the system install which made me nervous. Did install/download a program over the internet and it took 8 minutes where the server directly connected computer would have been much faster... Convenience is what I wanted with the smaller price. Might upgrade in the future but for now it's OK !
Great Product - Easy to load and set up . I too, feel that I must be one of the lucky ones who have had absolutely no problems with this product. Set up and use was very easy and I have had no corruption problems. My "server" is a Dell 8100 and my "client" is a Dell Latitude CPi (using the Laptop PC Card). I have been using the wireless network for three months without any issue. I would recommend / re-buy this product without hesitation.
Works fine on a 3 computer network . I have purchased 3 Wireless USB AnyPoint adapters from Intel. All installed easily and have worked without a hitch. Can't see how it could have been easier. May not be the fastest product out there, but is as fast as my network connection which is all that I share.

Cons Review
No. . Here's a list of some of my experiences with this product. Maybe you will learn something and not make the same mistakes I made. 1) I first used one of the USB ports on my MS Natural keyboard. I finally figured out that the keyboard's power supply wasn't enough to handle the product. I switched the mouse to the keyboard and the network adapter to a port on my PC. Problem solved. 2) After installing the product (installation was easy), both of the two computers I was attempting to network refused to shut down. They just stalled at the shut down screens. I had to resort to pulling the plug on them, or resetting them in hopes it wouldn't do it on another try. This happens randomly, about half the time. 3) I haven't been able to get any games to work on my LAN. I know this product isn't exactly the fastest, but I expected SOME games to work... I have tried Starcraft, Unreal Tournament, and Rouge Spear. 4) Although I have been able to share my cable internet connection over the network, my client PC sometimes doesn't connect with my server when I turn it on, so I have to reboot and try again. When the network is functioning, I can share printers, view files on the other PC, and share the internet connection, but it doesn't work all the time. In conclusion, I have had a very bad time with this product. I guess it was foolish of me to get wireless...
anypoint what is the point . I purchased anypoint to network a notebook with an OS of windows me to my desktop with an OS of XP. Installed great on the notebook but not on the desktop. Would not accept the drivers. The last message I got was Blackice defender. I have no idea what that means. But at the end of the day I would not have bought this product as I have had to reload XP on my new system.Waste of time and moneyUnfortunatly I had to rate this as one star as I could not submit this without a star
Installation Was Easy-- the Only Easy Thing . I ended up returning these because of corruption problems. Tech support was very limited-- and they had disconnected the 800 number. I could see why considering the amount of time I spent troubleshooting the little darlings. They probably had more in phone bills than their profit on each unit. There were horrendous compatibility problems with simple software-- problems the like of which I had not seen since Windows 3.11. The proxy server did not work. Finally, Windows 98 ended up with corrupt VXD files on both computers I had networked, and that was the final straw. Can anyone recommend a good wireless networking device?
