I have done extensive high bandwidth and latency testing in mixed environments with original Netgear AGM731Fs and Netgear switches. Each unit is physically inspected, tested in Netgear equipment for full operability and tested with a Fluke Optical Power Meter to ensure it's functioning within factory specs.

Great budget alternative to Netgear AGM731F GBICs . Made by the German Semiconductor company Infineon Technologies, these GBICs meet and exceed the specs of the Netgear branded AGM731F GBICs. Both are industry standard SFP form factor with LC fiber connections, transmitting at the 850nm wavelength. Both support 1000 BASE-SX gigabit fiber ethernet at the same maximum distance ratings of 550 meter via 50 um fiber or 275 meter via 62.5 um fiber. These Insteon units go a step further than the Netgear AGM731F units in that they also support 1.0625 Gbit/s and 2.125 Gbit/s FCAL (Fiber Channel) protocols and speeds, used in SAN & DAS applications.These are high quality units, which are fully compatible with Netgear AGM731Fs. They have previously been used in an enterprise environment. Before listing, they are physically inspected and tested at full duplex at the link level on Netgear equipment to make sure there are no surprises for the buyer. The are sealed in 3M ESD Safe bags, and sold at a fraction of the cost of a Netgear branded AGM731F GBIC.The housings are plastic, as are some of the newer black Netgear branded AGM731F units.
