This new Linksys rackmount switch delivers non-blocking, wire speed switching for your 10, 100, and 1000 megabit network clients, plus multiple options for connecting to your network backbone. Twenty-four 10/100/1000 ports wire up your workstations, while the two mini GBIC ports allow future expansion to alternate transmission media like optical fiber for your backbone. All ports have automatic MDI/MDI-X crossover detection, so you dont have to worry about the cable type, and polarity detection will even automatically correct wiring errors. Each port independently and automatically negotiates for best speed and whether to run in half- or full-duplex mode. Head-of-line blocking prevention keeps your high-speed clients from bogging down in lower-speed traffic and fast store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed on into the network.

not great but not horrible . I had to update firmware to get SNMP to function. My current versions:

Hardware Version 00.00.03
Software Version 1.0.0.86

Firefox 2.0.0.4 and IE 7 work fine for me on Windows.

No problems with uptime or reliability. Seems fast.

Documentation spotty and it is hard to get advanced features to work. Support by email equally spotty. If mission critical, shop Procurve.
Cisco SRW2024 24-port Gigabit Switch - WebView Reviews
It's a Cisco product in a small box . I ordered this switch when we were overhauling our office infrastructure.
It works great, allowed to identify some severe port loads and concurrency issues that caused problems before. Port mirroring for monitoring works great, the limit of 4 ports is still there, but it is expected on a switch of this class.
This switch does not allow for application selection for traffic priority, as much simpler models do, but it gives an experienced user much more flexibility in setting up permissions and QoS.

The only drawback, and the sole reason i gave it 4 stars, was that in an all-Mac environment we had to bring in a Windows machine to administer this switch, since it can only be managed using Internet Explorer. Firefox or Opera on windows box did not work either.

So, all in all it's a great product, but would be better if it had multi-browser support for configuration purposes.
Cisco SRW2024 24-port Gigabit Switch - WebView Opinions
Best bang for the buck for small-mid size business . No offense, but the other reviewers are splitting hairs. I have used Cisco 2900, 3000, 4500 and 6500 series switches. These suckers have many features that $2500+ units don't: Ability to test lines remotely on a per-port basis, advanced diagnostics, etc. They work fine when fed by higher-end cisco equipment, work well with Kiwi syslog servers. Only negative I can find is that they don't have command line interface, but what do you want for "same-as-cisco for 1/5 the price?"
Cisco . Excellent product always working fine and gives you faster speed to each port, 100% satisfied you can buy it,

Thanks
Good Product . The reviewers complaining about no Firefox support need to wake up, this is an entry level business switch, its server class, which has never really cared about such things. It's supposed to be managed from a server OS and not your macbook. While it would be nice to support all browsers it's a bit silly to dismiss the switch because of it.

This product is noisy - you've been warned. I cracked mine open and there is no attempt to dampen the fans which are two 40mm SUNON running 12v 0.8a. The chips all have heat sinks on them. I removed the fans and put in single quieter fan and its better (don't mess with it unless you like voiding your warrantee).

The web console is great, well featured with lots of advanced tools and settings to mess play with. I am pretty pleased with this purchase.

Cons Review
Browser compatibility is an issue for me too . Like the other reviewer, I'm disgusted that this product requires Internet Explorer 6 (version 7 doesn't either, you're out of luck if you've upgraded).

This problem has been there for ages and Linksys have done nothing to correct it.
Doesn't work with Firefox -- or ANY mac browser! . The fan is surprisingly loud, even for a rack-mounted device intended for a machine room.

However, the deal breaker for me (I'm returning the unit I bought) is that the web management interface does not work with Firefox. In fact, it works ONLY with IE on a PC.

Given that many other Linksys products work with Firefox, I was pretty surprised.

Linksys needs to have a talk with the clue fairy and cut some new firmware.
IE required? . This is a great switch. However it will not be useful for as as we do not have a windows machine or server in the enterprize, so it is impossible for us to take advantage of web view. We are not willing to pay micorsoft for a license simpy to manage a switch, so even a VM will not do.

No one at Cisco seems to care that their products cut out more than half the systems used to manage their networks.
