Peplink load balancing and VoIP . I purchased this router to replace a previous load balancing router that actually supported up to 8 WAN connections. The problem with this other router (Xincom) was that its firewall kept interfering with some of my applications -- especially VoIP.
My office maintains 2 WAN connections a cable modem and a DSL line. The router is supposed to sample the load on each and route traffic to the least used connection. It's also suppose to detect when a connection goes down and automatically route traffic to the remaining connection(s).
The Xincom never correctly detected when a connection went down (when a connection fails, it returns a "fake" internal IP address which the Xincom mistook for being a valid connection).
The Peplink over came every one of these problems out of the box. As soon as I plugged it in and configured it with my network, both VoIP phones worked perfectly as well as my existing applications. It fully supports port forwarding, firewall protection, VPN access while at the same time performing load balancing and fault detection/redirection.
Coincidentally, on the third day of having the Peplink installed, my cable connection went down. It took me a couple of hours to realize this because Peplink had detected the failure and redirected all traffic through the DSL line.
This is a great product for someone wanting higher performance by using multiple WAN connections.

It just plain works! . I have installed a few of these Peplink units in our remote offices. We are using Comcast HSI as our primary ISP and DSL as the backup. After installing one of these units (1st install), we actually had our cable cut to our Comcast modem by construction workers the next day! It failed over to the DSL connection without anyone knowing it. The Comcast connection was down for 2 days! If we hadn't just installed the DSL and this Router, our office would have had to shut down. We host a number of customer service reps and they access the customer database over a VPN through the internet. Without the backup we would have to send them home and would have lost sales and revenue. Paid for itself that day. Since then I have bought 2 more and have installed them at our other offices. Great product, haven't had to reboot one since they were installed, cross my fingers. They are on the high side of diy routers, but still cheaper than Cisco and can be setup by a tech with a little networking experience. Install the Pepwave OfficePoint with this unit for wireless, it works just as well. Bought these for our multi-level buildings in a mesh for total coverage. When we purchased them they were 50% off, a no brainer. Cannot touch the features of this WAP for the price. Look it up on their site. Another great product.
