Works . Installed it in my PowerMac Quicksilver G4 Dual 1GHz. First thing I noticed is that it is the first PCI card I've ever installed into this Mac that actually fit exactly (!). Usually (in fact, always until now) after plugging in the card, when tightening down the screw, the card lifts up a bit from the rear. Not htis one. Plugged it in and the screw-plate interfaced directly with the Mac's mounting hole. Amazing! I had actually decided (I've owned this Mac for many years) that cards were supposed to not fit exactly...
Anyway, in it went, and it works perfectly.

Great Design . Card does what I expected, fits great on my XFX 8200 motherboard, replaced a cheaper version SYBA because when I went cheap, the connectors would wiggle the slightest bit and the connection would be broke, not the case here... this is all thumbs up! Works well in Windows 7 Beta

Cost and effective . Not much to say if you know what you are looking for in a Firewire card. This one was nice because it had both a mini and regular port as well as USB. Installation was very simple and it has worked for several months now with no issue. Very good.
DOES NOT WORK ON WIN 7 64-bit . This card is GREAT for other operating systems but after months of nightmate efforts to make it work, Lacie finally admitted that it is not supported by Win 7 64-bit. The USB ports do but NOT the firewire ports. If you want a PCI card with Firewire and USB port that work under Win 7 then get the Sonnet Tango 2.0 card (2 firewire 400 and 3 usb ports (one internal)). I'm am sad the Lacie card did not work ot because it is a very good looking card. If I revert back to Win XP 64-bit I will certainly buy it.
Lacie/Sismo + Mac = Sweet! . For anyone who has had to struggle with inserting cards into a motherboard, this card is a welcome change.

Down to basics...

What's good about this card?

Unique in the PCI card segment; a usb/firewire combo card is a rare item
No drivers needed
Small and easy to insert
PC/Mac compatible right out of the box

What could be better?

Firewire licensing fees add an extra $20~25 to the cost, versus a USB-only card

if you are into the DIY scene, this is one card worth taking a look at for older systems.

Cons Review
BEWARE - this card is incompatible with Windows 7!!!!! . I bought the card to put into a brand-new PC (i7 processor & running Windows 7) - "Device Manager" says the card is working, but it is not - no devices plugged into it are detectable by the PC...I put it into an old Win XP machine and it worked perfectly...so I contacted LaCie. They told me that it is not compatible with Windows 7 and claim that since under "specifications" on the product page [...] they do not mention Windows 7, this is sufficient indication of incompatibility - despite that fact that on the product Datasheet (under "documents", right next to the "specifications" tab on the same page) they TWICE say that it IS compatible with Windows 7...and it was this information I used to inform my decision to purchase the product.

LaCie do not seem to want to take any responsibility for supplying misleading information, so I suggest being very careful buying their products...even if (like me) you think that you have checked before purchasing that it will be compatible.

HORRIBLE . ordered two of these cards. both were junk.

first one came from amazon and i installed it into my computer running vista ultimate 64 (maybe vista is the culprit haha). the computer blue screened and crashed before even getting into windows. took it out sent it back to amazon and computer was fine.
second one came in from amazon, i could boot up into my computer and the card worked fine but it slowed my computer down to a crawl and sometimes it couldnt even detect its harddrive to boot! i thought my harddrive was trying to give up its ghost!

lacie is a reputable company. but this particular product is bullocks. maybe youll have better luck. koodles to amazon for having an awesome return policy though! this card gets the fewest stars possible for wasting my time twice.
