8 x 10/100Base-TX LAN - Ethernet Switch
This review is from : NETGEAR 8PORT 10/100 DESKTOP SWITCH W/ ( FS108PNA )
Very nice PoE switch . We've had these switches in use for over 2 years now, and we keep buying more. Totally reliable. Recommended for use with Sharx Security SCNC3606 IP camera and NetGear WG103 wireless access point. In addition to standard link lights for every port, this switch has PoE on and overload indicator lights for each port as well. That's very useful. The only slight disadvantage of this PoE switch is that the size is more like a 16 port switch and the power supply is somewhat clunky.

easy to use and works just fine . This product is very easy to use even for non-technical person. The POE port works just fine. I attached two IP phones and it worked.

Satisfied Customer . The product was easy to set up. Works well, and thus far has had no problems. The main attached device is a Linksys PoE WAP and the PoE seems to be working very well using this Netgear switch.

NETGEAR 8PORT 10/100 DESKTOP SWITCH W/ ( FS108PNA ) Opinions
Needs Occasional Power Reset . It works most of the time, but about once a month freezes up. Removing and reapplying power brings it back to life, but you could waste a lot of time trying to figure out why your network isn't working if you have several components to check.

It works . I bought this because it is essentially the cheapest POE switch that I could find. It does it's job. It is a good solution to a home automation project.
Cons Review
Do not expect to drive more than one network camera with its POE. . I purchased this to drive 3 Toshiba IK-WB15A network cameras. The cameras are supposed to be 802.3af compliant and are successfully driven by individual Linksys POE injectors, but could not be driven by this Netgear FS108PNA POE switch. This switch is supposed to be 802.3af compliant as well, providing up to 15.4 watts of power per POE port, except that it is supposed to have a maximum POE capability of 32 watts total. According to Toshiba the cameras pull approximately 10 watts. All of this adds up to this switch should drive 2 of these network cameras, but not 3. In reality, this switch will on drive one camera. When a second camera is attached it appears to drive it for a few moments, but then the second camera drops offline and will never power back up, even though the switch indicates that it is providing power on the second camera port, and the amber light indicating that the POE power available is below 5 watts never flashed. If a third camera is connected, it will never power on, and the amber light flashes as expected. I am an engineer and I spoke to both the Toshiba and linksys tech support engineers who claim that their products are 802.3af compliant and that the switch should drive two of the cameras. They just claim that the fault lies with the other manufacturers equipment. I tested all 3 cameras, and even purchased a second Linksys FS108PNA switch and obtained the same results. Between all of this testing and the fact that my cameras are successfully driven by individual linksys POE injectors, I can only conclude that the cameras actually draw more than 10 watts or that the Linksys POE switch simply does not provide enough POE power capability. Bottom line is do not purchase this product to drive a network camera unless you have some way to test your camera with this switch, or you can find someone who has already done so, or you only plan on driving one network camera and nothing else on this POE switch. I was not able to return my switches, as ANTONLINE the seller would not refund my money.
