Good product wish software was better . Seeing as there are no reviews on this product, I guess I ought to let potential buyers know that this USB switch is a great product. It is, however, not without its flaws.
- The name "2 to 6 share switch station" is somewhat deceptive, only 4 of the USB ports are switchable, while the other 2 are dedicated to one of the two computers attached to the switch. Not a big deal though, you can easily buy a USB splitter and plug it into one of the switchable ports. I have a printer/fax/scanner, webcam and a notebook cooler all plugged into a single switchable port via a Kingston USB splitter.
- Every device I've ever plugged into the switch, whether it was a soundcard, mouse, printer or webcam functioned perfectly and switched between computers just fine.
- When using the switch, there is a slight delay when switching a USB device between a computer. At times you need to press the button twice before it switches over, and even if it does your computer might not recognize the device. This is only occasional though,and would only happen if you are switching back and forth between computers very quickly.
- The software is absolutely horrible. Share switch (i believe this is the name) often doesn't work, and when it does work it takes far too long to switch over to the other computer. Also, there are no keyboard hot keys that I know of that would allow for someone to switch all, or certain USB devices between computers. This would have been an extremely nice thing to have. I recommend allowing windows to manage this device with its default drivers and use the manual buttons to switch devices, don't bother installing the software, they don't provide updates or support anyway.
