Good Product Not so Good Instructions . Got this for my Macbook after I dropped it and broke the monitor, as the process of pulling out said monitor (I have it set up as a desktop now) disconnected the Airport (the receiver for the Airport was up above the monitor). The shipping from J&R was kind of cruddy, as they took way too long to ship, but it arrived quickly after that.

Anyway, to the setup. As a mac user I had to download the drivers from their website [...]. Downloaded it easily on my brother's computer, and it installed perfectly. Anyway, here was the trouble. I was perfectly connected to my wireless network, but the setup for getting the computer to recognize the USB was overly complicated. The instructions made it seem as though Network (in Sys Prefs) would get the DCHP and DNS stuff set up properly, but it didn't, so I had too do it manually. Wasn't too difficult, but that is because I have a lot of IT experience, which if you don't could be very tricky. That said, the packet transmission rate is pretty much as fast presently as it was with the internal Airport card, which is a huge surprise and fantastic. Definitely worth the cheap, $20 solution.

Cons Review
DIY wireless adapter for MAC . I bought this to fix the wireless issues I was having with my Mac Mini - it wouldn't reconnect to my wireless router after coming out of standby. I bought this after searching for an hour or so and seeing one forum user claiming that this fixed their issues. I thought "cool, a $20 fix". I guess I should have kept searching for other solutions, because this adapter was not it.

Upon unpacking, I notice the insert on the package telling mac users to go to their website to find drivers. Ok, I'm an electrical engineer who designs computer chips for a living. No big deal. First ever website that I could not find a driver on. Spent an hour looking. Not there. Created a support account on the site - still no access to drivers. Hmm. Spent another 30 minutes googling the part number and found out who made the chipset (Ralink). Went to their website and lo and behold, there are some drivers! Joy! That is, if you could actually figure out which of their drivers to install. After futzing around for another 30 minutes, the right drivers were installed and I had connected to my router using wireless N. Ok, now for the acid test - standby mode. Put it into standby, and it came out and would not auto-connect back to the router. To say I was ready to hurt someone was an understatement! The adapter also would not work unless their wireless utility was open. Very frustrating.

In the decade plus of orders I have made from Amazon, this is my first return. I should have done more product research before the purchase.

Sorry this doesn't help you Windows users. I swore them off a couple years ago.

I gave it 2 stars, because it did at least appear to connect at a nice high data rate to my wireless N router.
