great for OS-X but not for Windows . If you ever need to run your MacBook Air with Windows and need a wired ethernet connection, this one won't do the job.
There is no Windows driver for this adapter, so if Windows is a necessity, go for another brand designed for Windows.... just read the specs to be sure it works with OS-X also.

So I plugged this adapter into a USB port, installed a third-party driver (to work with OSX 10.4), added the network connection via Network Preferences, and it works perfectly. Great workaround but be informed if you have an older system . I have a 2006 iMac whose built-in ethernet card was the unfortunate victim of an electrical storm. A tech suggested I purchase a USB Ethernet adapter as a workaround, which I did. When I plugged it in, it didn't work. After doing some research, I discovered that Apple systems before Leopard do not support these devices. Before you upgrade your memory, etc to accommodate this device, look for some third party workarounds for older systems. I installed the third party software, and it works like a charm.

Works well . Works as expected. Gives my Air some breathing room. Now a part of my laptop bag.
Nice add on for intermittent use . I at first had trouble due to interaction with Parallels, but then Windows was turned off I was able to get it installed and working. Great for transferring files to the MacBook Air and for the first full backup with Time Capsule.
Necessary for MacBook Air . This was part of a gift for my collegiate daughter whose remark to me a couple of months later was, "...and the extra things you included were perfect!" Really should not have been necessary; I guess something has to be left out when producing a landmark product like the Air.
It's Alright . It doesn't really look quite like other Apple products, but it works flawlessly and Mac OS installs it the second you plug it in, which is actually really impressive. So it works perfectly but seems ugly as far as Apple standards go.
it worth it! . Apple USB Ethernet adapter is useful to use and especially if you are traveling and staying in a hotel that offers Internet connection only through the Ethernet. Sometimes you need to use it when there is no wireless connectivity, where some laptops doesn't have a built in Ethernet socket like my MBA laptop! Bottom line.. this adapter helped me a lot during my visit to other countries.
Nice to have when you need it . Even though the Macbook Air is primarily designed as a wireless computer there are times when an Ethernet connection comes in handy. I've used this adapter for long downloads, video downloads and software updates, times when Wifi is unpleasantly slow. It works fine and I've noticed no difference in download speed compared to other computers with built-in Ethernet. Given the price of the computer spending the extra 30 bucks is a no-brainer. Four stars instead of five because this computer really should have had Ethernet built in.
Why does it have to be so expensive? . This cable is essential if you have an Apple computer. We know Apple is expensive this very tiny adapter is 30 bucks? It's difficult not to fell bad.
