TP-Link TL-WA5110G 54Mbps High Power Wireless Access Point

This review is from : TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G 54Mbps
This Thing ROCKS . WOW! Better than I expected. I had been trying to find a way to link my d-link wireless router in the house to an access point/bridge in my garage (about 100 yards away) so I could hook into my wired network out there. It's a play cave with a PS3, Wii, XBox360, Bluray net capable player and a couple of computers. I had run hard lines 3 different times all falling victim to squirrels and other chewing critters so I wanted to go wireless. I plugged in the TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G to power and set my XP Computer to a fixed IP of 192.168.1.2 and connected via ethernet to the TP-Link. You can access the TP-Link setup screen by typing in 192.168.1.254 into your web browser (this is not the address given in the directions but the one found on the bottom of the unit itself). Anyway I set the unit to AP mode and chose client. I put in my wireless routers info (IP and MAC Address) where requested and then the WPA security info that my router uses. I manually chose the channel I new my router was using and was able to link the TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G to my routers wireless signal. I also had to disable DHCP on the TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G as my router would be serving up the IP addresses. I used the TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G signal strength meter to place the unit for the best signal strength (that is an awesome extra). I reset my XP machine back to automatically obtain IP and DNS and disconnected it from the TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G's ethernet port. I then pluggeg my 8 port 10/100 ethernet switch into the TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G. At this point all computers and game systems had internet access. Note my D-Link router did not support WDS so I left that option unchecked when configuring client in AP mode of the TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G.
TP-Link WL TL-WA5110G 54Mbps Reviews
Works great Highly configurable. . Currently using this as an AP client to give wireless connectivity to my xbox 360 (at a fraction of the price of Microsoft's xbox wireless adapter). It took only a few minutes to configure it. Super configurable, supporting AP, AP client and bridge modes. Love how it also supports higher power for fringe areas. Would totally buy again.
