Actiontec’s new MegaPlug™ 85 Mbps 4-Port Hub and 85 Mbps Twin-pack expands your network without breaking your bank. Perfect for use with DSL modems, gateways, or broadband routers with just one Ethernet port, the 4-Port Hub works seamlessly with the MegaPlug 85 Mbps Ethernet Adapter to provide network coverage in every room of your home or small office with an electrical outlet. There’s no easier or more affordable way to extend your home network than the Actiontec MegaPlug 85 Mbps 4-Port Hub. End the Ethernet Port Drought - Ethernet ports are valuable. They are often the only way to connect computers, printers, and other devices (scanners or networkable hard drives), share Internet connections, or quickly transfer large amounts of data. Unfortunately, many of the components at the heart of a network, like DSL modems or gateways, feature only a single Ethernet port, leaving you with no way to expand your network. Enter the MegaPlug 4-Port Hub. By adding multiple Ethernet ports to your network, suddenly, the possibilities are endless. Now you can send data from a computer in the study to one in the family room or use the printer in the bedroom from a computer in the kitchen. You’ll be amazed at what you can do! The MegaPlug Family To make things even easier, the MegaPlug 4-Port Hub can be used with the MegaPlug Ethernet Adapter and Wireless Network Extender, extending your network options even further. Instead of stringing Ethernet cables all over your home or office, use the power lines that already connect your rooms to complete your network. Set up is a breeze; in no time, you’ll be enjoying the endless benefits of networking your devices. Step confidently into the networking age with the MegaPlug 85 Mbps 4-Port Hub. Specifications - IEEE 802.3, HomePlug Turbo Powerline Specification 1.0.1, Forward Error Correction (FEC), Automatic Channel Adaptation.

Perfect for Dish networking . Got this set to hook up our new Dish Vip722 receiver so we didn't have to have a phone line in the room. Also needed to attach the new Samsung TV to the network to use it's internet features. Since the hub has 4 port, it allows us to attach other game machines or computers directly to our router downstairs for max speed.
Worked out of the box without any adjustments needed. It is truly a plug and play product.
I have 3 of the MegaPlug adapters and the 4-port hub supporting our two dish receivers and connecting my daughter's gaming machine to the internet and have had no problems at all.
High recommended!!!

Actiontec MegaPlug 85 Mbps Ethernet Adapter & 4-Port Hub Opinions
Works as advertised . This thing just works. I hooked up one to my Linksys router and plugged it in, and gave another one to my wife to use with her laptop. She loves it. She can plug in anywhere in the house and surf away. No setup or special software, just plug and play with XP and the Linksys. Then I got another adapter to hook up the xbox360 by the big screen so we could play online. No Problems! It also works with my Dish Network DVR. I checked the download speed over roadrunner and it does 8Mbps on downloads. I highly recommend this device, and the homeplug networking, it is both faster and more secure than a wireless router. I disabled the wireless function in my linksys after getting these adapters.

Provides the solid connection my wireless setup was failing to do. . Having moved to a new apartment my only initial option was wireless. Although I'm able to connect at 54Mb/s the wireless connection in my office just wasn't cutting it with frequent disconnects and slow transfer speeds.
Now, I've heard of Ethernet over Power (EoP) before, but never had I thought about using it until now. After reading up on the technology I wasn't any more assured about this technology than before I started. Reviews from various sources were completely mixed. I could find no reviews for the "Actiontec MegaPlug 85 Mbps Ethernet Adapter & 4-Port Hub" at the time of my purchase. Buying a product online that hasn't been reviewed yet is something I just haven't done in the past, but there's a reason why I decided to buy this product.
Actiontec has an exceptional web site that clearly documents their products. Furthermore, I contacted Actiontec's support and received a response the same day. Good so far. I contacted support to ask if the hub and adapter could be swapped (of which I believed there to be no reason why not, but wanted to confirm anyways) and their answer was, "yes, they can be swapped". All available documentation shows the hub device being used in conjunction with the router/modem but it's definitely interchangeable as Actiontec's support confirmed. Finally, the price was right.
Upon receiving the MegaPlug 85 Mbps Ethernet Adapter & 4-Port Hub it took less than 5 minutes to get it up and running. On the modem side of things my setup look like: cable modem -> router -> MegaPlug adapter (plugged into an outlet). On the client side: MegaPlug 4-port hub (plugged into outlet) -> PC's NIC. It's that simple and has been working flawlessly thus far.
One thing I did not like is the quality of the adapter. The plastic case was somewhat flimsy and I handled it gently due to fear of breaking the it. I especially noticed this when removing the adapter from the outlet.
As far as speeds are concerned, this is why I haven't given it 5 stars as of yet. I have NOT tested speeds between two clients on my LAN as of yet to see if 85Mb/s is possible. I intend to run these test some time in the future. I've only tested speeds between the router and a single client. The good news here is that I am able to max out my cable connection at about 17Mb/s and it has been rock solid. One thing to note is that the apartment I am in is only about 18 months old so the wiring is all new. This may or may not be a factor for you, but is something to consider. Interference from other devices connected on the same electrical circuit haven't been an issue either.
Bottom line: I'm very pleased with this purchase thus far, but will update this review once I've tested transfer speeds within my LAN.

Cons Review
Should have been advertised as "12Mbit/sec". That's 14% efficiency. . I'm conflicted as to how many stars to give it because it does work, it's pretty cool, but performs WAY BELOW the stated speed, so then I'd have to say that it doesn't work as it should.
I'm getting 12Mbits/sec throughput (10 foot distance between wall plugs (upstairs/downstairs))
Let's calculate:
12Mbps / 85Mbps * 100% = 14% efficiency. How long would you last in your job/company if you were only 14% efficient?!
Now, if Actiontec had advertised this device as a 12Mbit/sec I would have given it 4 stars. I'll knock it 1 star for the instructions. They seem overly proud of how "simple" it is to set up, yet the instructions are over simplified and fail to mention some necessary steps for it to work right.
For normal "household" use (sharing photos etc.) this device functions perfectly, however I need to transfer HDTV live through my home network (TiVo) and this device is just too slow at 12Mbit/sec (if it was anywhere close to 85Mbps I'd be fine). I'm going to hard-wire a Cat5 Ethernet connection instead.
