Add two eSATA ports to the existing PCI-E equipped Mac?PC computer in order to easily connect to our eSATA products including: MS1UT, MS2UT+, MS2T+, MS4T, MR5CT1, TR4M, TR5M1, TR8M. This revolutionary design uses the latest Silicon Image 3132 chipset to provide PCI 1x interface to two eSATA connections. Unlike the previous generation of adapters, the new design includes two firmwares: RAID or BASE. With the jumper selection, the user could instantly select the proper RAID mode. With Port Multiplier support, a single eSATA cable could connect up to five hard drives use a Port Multiplier aware unit, such as TR4M, TR5M and MS4UM.Compatible with the PCI-E equipped Mac?G5 and Mac Pro, Windows XP, 2000, 2003 and Vista.

Cons Review
Two problems when using with Drobo S on Win 7 . As many people buy this card because it is recommended for Drobo on Data Robotics' website, here is my experience with making it work with Drobo S. Card may work better in other configurations.
1. My Dell would hang up for 5-10 minutes at boot time after card was installed. To fix it, I had to contact tech support, which advised to replace RAID bios on the card with the BASE version (b7703.bin) that can be downloaded from Silicon Image website. Flashing bios did not work per included instructions, but there is a workaround through Device Manager. With new bios, startup problems went away.
2. PC is unable to fully wake up Drobo from sleep most of the time unless you disconnect and reconnect esata cable. Drobo tech support was not able to fix the problem, even after sending two replacement Drobos. Sans' tech support was initially not aware of the problem, but after contact Silicon Image advised that "This problem occurs by design for Microsoft Windows. Unless Windows boot from a device attached to a host controller supported by SCSI miniport, the controller is left in standby or power-down mode. To workaround this restrictive design, Silicon Image ships a Windows service that explicitly wakes the Silicon Image driver and controller after the OS resumes from power management. Please download and install the file from the link below to see if that will fix your issue." However you can't download utility from the ftp site since they do not give you password. After finding workaround of getting file through email, utility worked for a while, but now does not. Fear not - to wake up Drobo, just disconnect and reconnect esata cable.
