I love it! It works great. . I bought this a few months back. I bought a 1TB hard drive to put in it as well. It worked great at first, but after a few days it would boot up, show the Mediagate screen, then go blank.
It turns out that the security features of NTFS don't play well with this product. So I reformatted it to FAT32 and sure enough, it began working like a dream again! I have not had any problems with it since.
It will play most popular file formats, but less common formats such as mkv, rmvb, etc have to be streamed from your computer. The processor in this product is not strong enough to process those type of files.
While the manual can be humorous to read since it was directly translated, this product is simple enough to operate that it will suffice.
I will be buying another one of these for my current deployment!

Awesome entertainment machine! . I bought this machine because a friend has an earlier model. I don't understand why more people don't have them. With a large hard drive, you can have 300+ movies in 1080p or blue ray quality, and take it with you as you travel. What's not to like?

Cons Review
BIG disappointment . Well, I was quite disappointed with this product. First, you'd find the manual quite difficult to understand as it is written in a translated mode. Secondly, despite the fact that the specification says that the unit supports wireless connection, it does not seem to work for anyone on the forum. As per the company's support forum moderator there is no plan even to support this... What a shame since if I'd knew this would work only wired I would not have buy it. Finally, to play certain media formats you still need to use your PC to play the file.

Went from enthusiastic to very disappointed . Both the Mediagate MG-700dvr original unit purchased from Amazon and the replacement
from Amazon failed. After loading approx. 15 home dvd's and some music cd's, they played
ok on my tv. The next morning I went to turn it on to do some more loading and could
not even wake the unit up.
I very promptly received the replacement from Amazon and installed the WD Black in with
the previously loaded dvd's and it worked fine. So I proceeded to load another 10 dvd's
and checked the playability which was fine but all of a sudden the unit died. I kept trying
to turn it back on to get the HELLO but it kept powering down and finally died altogether.
Based on 2 of 2 failures, I would not recommend this media player to anyone.
