Little ease to use device that it is OSX compatible . The Kensington K33931US Port Replicator was a great addition to my wife's macbook. She uses this little device almost as a pseudo docking station. The 3 USB ports are used to drive the wired keyboard, a printer and a 1TB USB drive for backups. In addition a wired mouse is USB ports in the keyboard. This leaves a couple free USB ports, one in the macbook and another in the keyboard. Wired Ethernet is connected to the 10/100 Ethernet port. This Ethernet port is compatible with OS X (tested with Snow Leopard and Lion) and with Windows (Tested with windows 7 x64 only)This setting simplifies connectivity because now only two cables (1 USB and 1 video) are needed to quickly "dock" the laptop and be ready for work. This could be a nice addition for macbook air owners.Ethernet is driven by an ASIX AX88772 fast Ethernet controller (also used by apple in its own "USB Ethernet" adapter). In my case I did not had to install any drivers as the adapter was recognized by OS X. Nevertheless I went ASIX web page and downloaded latest OS X v3.5.0 drivers from their web site. According to the web site these drivers are compatible with both Intel and Power PC machines and with OSX 10.4 to 10.7.If you can get away with wifi, or you do not mind connecting and disconnecting all cable when you need to work with external keyboard and mouse, probably you will do fine with an standard USB hub. If not this is a little gem is supported by OS X, updated drivers are available and it is really simple to use.
