Great product . This is the 4th one of these I am using on my network in Afghanistan. The only thing I have to say is if you are going to set up a wireless link using these, Hawkings says to set one up as an access point and the other as a bridge. When I did this I was getting 90-100% packet loss. I ended up setting them both for AD-Hoc so they would see only the other side. Once I did this I was able to get a 0 packet loss.
I would have given it 5 stars is the setup Hawkings showed worked, instead I had to fiddle around and eventually stumbled on the adhoc and got it working.

Hawking Hi-Gain USB Wireless-300N Access Point/Bridge (White) Reviews
Plug n Play! . I am no network expert and I have had issues with network hardware in the past. This item just plain works as advertised. My router is in the basement on one end of the house and I needed coverage on the 2nd floor on the opposite end of the house. I pluged the unit into my ethernet and ran the software. It was up and running in less than 10 minutes. I can now stream HD video where I need it. I highly reccomend this product as it seems to work with other manufacturer's products with no issues.

Great product! Works as advertised! . I bought this Access Point/Bridge with the intention to use it as a bridge for my new HP Color LaserJet CP3525DN printer and allow other wireless desktops/laptops in my townhouse to print to this printer. I simply plugged the power cord in and connected a network cable from my printer to the bridge device. I ran the setup wizard from the CD and chose the "Bridge" setup option and bammm, I was up in running in minutes.
I would definitely recommend this product and praise it for the easy setup process. Great job Hawking!

range expander . I have a large home and my daughter couldn't get good wireless reception on her computer at the other end of the house. I also wanted to establish service in my garage apartment which is separate from the house. I put the Hawking access point at the end of the house and now not only does my daughter have great service, but I get three bars in my garage apartment.
Extremely easy setup only took 5 minutes at most.

Simple Setup - works just fine . I bought four of these to replace some ailing and ancient 802.11 b/g access points installed when the house was built. They were very simple to install and set up. The web-based interface worked perfectly, and all set up without any difficulty (I gave each the same SSID and put each on a separate channel, with a gap channel in between). I've had no problems with them and I am completely happy.
Wireless bridge . I bought this to use for a bridge between two locations. What I found out was that I needed a repeater instead. I now use this for my daughters computer instead of a usb wireless adapter.
Fantastic Product! . This product has worked perfectly for me! I set it up as a WAP -- so that wireless devices could be on the same LAN with my existing wired connections. The CD setup software was really easy to use and worked perfectly. Also, I could later change the setup by accessing the WAP from the browser of any PC on my LAN. Finally, I am even able to access the WAP from a wireless device in another building that is 200 feet away -- I am very happy with that!
Perfect for me . The Hawking was my third try to set up a bridge to extend my network coverage for an outdoor security camera. I had previously tried a D-Link and an Asus and simply could not get either one to work. I am fairly technically inclined but not great on networking knowledge.
After the two earlier frustrations the Hawking setup was quick and easy and it has worked perfectly for me for about a month now.

Cons Review
Not as impressed as other reviewers... . There aren't a lot of wireless bridges on the market. I had tried a DLink DAP1522 and it basically didn't work at all (see my review). This Hawking model had better reviews, so I tried it. Ultimately, it did work, but there are some problems you should be aware of.
The set-up wizard provided on the CD did not work at all, so I went with the web client set up. The process is persnickity (you have to set up a static IP address to connect to the web client etc) but it is at least well explained in the manual. It was a quick set up, and the product appeared to work at first.
After a day I started losing my connection. It turned out that the reason is you MUST set your wireless router to use a single channel, not to change channels automatically. Anytime the router changes channels, the Hawking loses its connection. TO make matters worse, the "site survey" function in the Hawking is buggy - when you try to restablish a connection, your wireless network often doesn't seem to show up at all! THis means you have to do a hard reset of the Hawking device and start all over. And of course every time you want to access the web client you have to reset your IP address etc. It's quite annoying after a while.
The second thing I noticed was that I was only getting a "G" connection despite the fact that I have a 2.4GHz N router (the DLink DIR655). The ONLY way I was able to get the Hawking to connect in N mode was to set the DLink to ONLY function in N mode. Even if I told the Hawking to only use N, when I switched the DLink back to mixed G/N mode (to acommodate legacy devices in my home), the Hawking would revert to G mode! So, I basically have a G Bridge, not an N Bridge....assuming I want to have any N devices on my network. VERY ANNOYING! And enough for me to rate the product only two stars.
The final thing I'd point out is that the bridge gives you very little status information on strength of connection, whether it has successfully connected, etc. It also doesn't say if it is connecting in N or G mode--I had to go to the Dlink to find that out.

What a waste of time!!! . First let me start by stating I bought the Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Access Point because it was advertised as providing 300' range. When I spoke with customer service during start-up, they stated the 300' range was laboratory conditions and that I shouldn't expect more than 100' to 150'. I'd call that false advertising, at best.I never made it past step 1 in the set-up wizard. I called the help center in India and spent over two hours with two different people - both very nice. In the end, they concluded there was a problem with the device. What that problem was, they did not tell me. "We are sorry for your problems. Please send the device back to Amazon and request a replacement." How does it go: "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice..." Needless to say, I'll be seeking a refund, not an exchange.
