THIS IS A EXCELLENT MEDIA AND NAS... Don't think further . I am writing this review after playing with this device in all aspects for few days. To begin with I wanted to get a NAS to have my data available over the network but after a tiering research and trying out Buffalo NAS I changed my thought process to see if I can get a device to be a media player and a NAS. BTW: Buffalo NAS Ch1 1TB sucks it is way complicated and remote access never worked. I am also a tech savie and have fair knowledge of gadgets.
If you are looking for a Media Player with NAS... just go get it, it is h than other name brands because of the reason that it plays any and all formats of video and audio. Here are the Pros and Cons though:PROS:
1. Nice interface
2. Good remote
3. Very simple to install hard drive by yourself.
4. Easy to understand menu settings and options unlike NAS devices that are complicated to configure
5. Great NAS device that maps like a network drive on your PC's in the same network
6. It is DLNA device and has capability (UpNp) to play the media on the media player in any DLNA devices like DVD players or TV's that are DLNA capable.
7. It is very quick while browsing data or the playing media on PCs or DLNA devices.
8. It has Bit Torrent, FTP and other networking capabilities for power users (techies) but normal users doesn't have to another or configure those options
9. I have been using this on wireless devices in my home on the second floor with router in the first floor with signal strength low to medium but the video content (ISO, MPEG, VOB) plays without stutter.
10. It is quiet enough and have no issues with fan noiseCONS:
1. No power or other buttons on the device, if you mess up or loose the original device you are screwed pretty much
2. The display on the device is pretty much useless since it does not display the sub menu selections if you navigating to sub menus and selections
3. It has folder protect password but it is not working
4. Web access to NAS is limited to when you are in your home network, which is useless since you can as well map it as a network drive rather than going through the browser. I am still finding out how this can be done.
5. UpNp feature is turned off if the player is turned off and it has to be turned on again to access all media content on the player. It is strange that when the UpNP is off you can see media like VOB, AVI, MPEG, MP$, MP3 but not ISO, it is weird but as long as the player is not turned on it should be ok.
6. Forward, Rewind and other functions does not work when you are streaming content from the player on another DLNA device like TV or DVD player in anoher room but surprisingly the movie titles linger for few minutes and the movie starts so it is like in a movie theater where you go get the popcorn while they go through the ads and previews...My final verdict is, if you are looking for a one solution for NAS and Media player think no further... go get it guys. remember that you may not be able to access NAS when you are away from your home. If anyone has figured this out please drop me an email with instructions, I will appreciate it.
UEBO M400 1080p Wireless Network Media Player Reviews
Near perfect . Having just wasted money on another "no name" Realtek 1185-based media player I thought long and hard before purchasing the UEBO. The UEBO isn't exactly a household name in media player circles. But it should be. This is a very fine box. It has a great looking simple UI and everything just works. I am so glad I bought it.
The only negative I can give it is that at times the remote control has a slow response time. You'll press a button and it might take a second or two to do what it is supposed to do. The firmware might just need a little tweaking to clean up that lag.
One other thing I'd like to see, and this is unrelated to the box itself, is the company website is extremely minimalistic. At the very least I'd like to see them add a forum so that users can talk to one another about the box and also a place for company reps to answer questions about the box.
UEBO M400 1080p Wireless Network Media Player Opinions
