The CS62U is a compact KVM switch which allows one keyboard, mouse, and monitor to control two USB computers. Audio connections provide speaker and microphone sharing between the two computers, and the integrated cables keep the installation clean and simple. Switching computers is simply a matter of a few keystrokes, no need to remove your hand from the keyboard. Because the KVM intercepts switching commands directly from the keyboard, there is no software to install on your computers and it is compatible with virtually any operating system that is USB compliant. A unique feature of the KVM is the USB controller built into the mouse port, which allows a powered USB hub to be connected for printer, scanner, hard drive, etc. sharing between the attached computers. Because the connection is a USB controller the CS62U supports the programmable buttons on high end mice. The CS62U is DDC2B compliant to ensure correct display resolutions (up to 2078 x 1536) are maintained when booting or switching computers. The CS62U is ready to go right out of the box, it's just a matter of connecting your mouse, monitor, and keyboard to the console side, then connecting the built in cables to your computers. Great KVM switch! Great color! Really works with Unix & PC's . I needed a replacement for my IOGEAR KVM switch that worked with both Sun Solaris and Windows XP. This is a new product and I bought it blind. I am very pleased with it. Switching is easy with 2 hits of the "SCROLL LOCK" key on any USB keyboard. The built-in audio switch is a nice added bonus. Built-in cables is an extra nice feature as those can run you an extra $25.00 if they are not included with your KVM switch. This will also work for Apple MacIntosh and any LINUX based computer.

ATEN 2-Port USB 2.0 VGA Cable Built-in KVM Switch with Audio Support CS62U (Gray) Reviews
Truely DOES work with Wireless Keyboard and Mouse COMBO . I purchased this KVM because my IOGEAR (GCS632U) Did not work with my new Wireless Keyboard and Mouse combo ("Microsoft Wireless Comfort 5000 2.4Ghz). I went through 3 sets trying to get them to work with the IOGEAR switch and could not get anything to work. Weird because my OLD Microsoft Wireless Keyboard and mouse did work with the IOGEAR switch. I guess the new 2.4 GHZ USB adapters do not like the IOGEAR switch.
This switch on the other hand, works PERFECTLY with my new keyboard and mouse. It really saved the day (I was ALMOST about to go back to wired, YUK).
I have the 2.4GHZ usb adapter that came with the wireless keyboard and mouse plugged into the keyboard port of the switch. My Windows XP laptop (that is in a docking station) and my Windows 7 Tower are now switching back and forth (using the scroll lock key) perfectly, it never misses.
I hope this hels someone, because I spent quite a bit of time researching this before I found a combo that would work!
Here is the keyboard and mouse I am using: Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 Keyboard and Mouse Set - Black

ATEN 2-Port USB 2.0 VGA Cable Built-in KVM Switch with Audio Support CS62U (Gray) Opinions
Works great for me . I have had No problems whatsoever using this product. Double click the scroll lock key and it switches over to the computer with ease. The only thing that I think would be obvious is that you can only use your video camera on one computer , Using skype for instance. Other than that Sound is still the same on both as well as everything else.

Not bad could be better . I bought this KVM because I needed one that worked with Windows 7 (many do not). It actually works, which is good. However, it is missing some features that I consider important: a microphone connection, and buttons on the actual switch to change the input computer. Also, the audio wire is too short to reach across my laptop, which places the input on the opposite side as the VGA input. I don't know of any better KVM that is compatible with Windows 7 for under $100 so I guess this is as good as it gets.
Nice bonus feature: also switch usb flash drive on mouse usb port . A very nice feature, perhaps not well advertised, of this switch is the ability to use the spare mouse usb port to share a usb flash drive (I tested this) and perhaps usb peripherals (I did not test this). I have a logitech wireless keyboard & mouse combo which uses only 1 usb port and is plugged in the keyboard usb port of the switch. The un-used mouse usb port of the switch can be used to share another usb perripheral, in my case, a ubs flash drive. Now I can share both the keyboard/mouse and usb flash drive between 2 computers. VERY NICE.
By the way, I bought and returned an IOGEAR USB 2 port KVM switch because it does not have the ability to share a usb peripheral like the ATEN.

Excellent product and price. . I have an Ubuntu Linux workstation and a Macbook that I switch between for doing software development. I access VM's using VMware Workstation on Ubuntu. I have a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and Intellipoint mouse. Works as advertised. My 19" LCD looks just as sharp with the KVM as it did before. The audio sounds similar as well. Keyboard input correctly drives Linux, the VM's on Linux, and the Macbook. Even the Windows start key is mapped to the Mac command key. Either computer can be restarted whether or not it is the active station. Device information is correctly forwarded to both workstations.
In short, introducing the KVM did not in any way degrade functionality of my systems.
I have used iTunes to play music through my Macbook and in a VM on my Linux workstation, with sound routed through the KVM. The sound is just fine. It's as if the KVM is not even there. It's possible that users reporting audio problems have a cabling issue.
The generous cables (1.8M) are great for routing monitor/keyboard cables behind a large mahogany desk.
I am an engineer. I love a product that just works at a reasonable price. Thank you, ATEN. I will be a repeat customer.

Good price and functional... . I use this to switch between my MacBook Pro and a Windows desktop that dual boots Ubuntu. No problems with the switching at all. Only issue is with the sound pass-through. It is terrible. Pops, buzzes, hisses on both the laptop and desktop. I finally gave up and just plug my speakers into the Mac when I want good sound. Had the speakers pass-through worked, would have been a five-star purchase.
Cons Review
Completely unreliable and ZERO customer service. . I bought this four months ago, to replace a PS2-based KVM when I upgraded my keyboard. It is the most unreliable KVM I've ever used, and comes complete with absolutely ZERO customer service.
The KVM operates only by hotkey switching; you press a certain combination of keys to switch between systems. Unfortunately, the hotkey system is flakey at best; the port-ID command has never worked for me, and the other commands work about twenty percent of the time - the rest of the time just results in you turning numlock on and off a whole lot, and filling your screen with '-', 't' and 'a'.
As my keyboard doesn't have a scroll-lock key (the default switch - you have a choice between that, or your control key - no custom keys.) I have to set the KVM to use the alternate toggle - but it "forgets" this setting once every week or so, forcing me to set it again (and see above re: it ignores most commands I send it.) There doesn't seem to be any reason for this (no power failures or system reboots - the systems stay up 24/7) - it just appears to get bored doing it my way, and wants to go back to the way it likes to do things. I don't like personality quirks in my hardware.
I've also had it freeze out on me - it spontaneously refuses to acknowledge commands or pass keyboard or mouse input through to the system unless I unplug the device, restart the systems (one of them is a file server; you can imagine how pleased I am about doing that) and plug it all back in again. Most recently, the sound has now completely disappeared; the speakers work fine, but the KVM won't pass the sound through, for no apparent reason.
I sent Aten a support request via email two weeks ago about these problems. I've not had a reply at all - not even a form-answer. Nothing. There is nothing posted anywhere to address these problems other than far-too-basic "unplug-and-replug" or "try again" troubleshooting advice.
In short: it's low-quality, unreliable, and Aten don't appear to care: stay away.
