good commodity switch . Contrary to what "Mr. Omally" says, one doesn't get tree spanning on any commodity level switch (thats pretty much a strictly enterprise level capability). as for mbix? thats handled by most of the ethernet ports built into machines these days, so its not exactly relevant either.
For what this switch is, it suits its job very nicely. why carry around a wall-wart and have to fight over (let alone find) a plug in or carry a multi-plug extension cord? Its a nice portable solution for the job at hand..

Great Mobile Solution . I just couldn't justify carrying around a conventional switch and another tranformer all the time -- especially since I already have two laptops and a ton of other gear in my case.
This unit was the perfect solution. Compact, lightweight and USB powered. It worked perfectly right out of the box. I combined it with a small retractable LAN cable (Belkin is the one I purchased, but others may be better) and one longer conventional LAN cable for a complete solution. You may also want a USB extension cord to cover all possibilities for locating the box farther away from your laptop.
The only improvement I can imagine (to give it a 5 star instead) would be using a standard USB or Mini-USB connector instead of the odd/proprietary cable they provide. The connector is standard USB at the computer end, but a rounded pin configuration at the box end. Still, I'm quite happy with this clever little unit.

Cons Review
works as advertised but mdix and no spanning tree make this a timebomb. . For good cheap fun, plug one ethernet cable into two ports of this device to make a loop, and then another cable between another port of this swithch and into the company LAN. The LAN administrator will be by with an axe soon enough.
